My 3-days short vacation in Bukidnon happened on April 21-23, it was the best summer trip so far because I was able to shoot some scenic scenes with a Sony DigiCam. It took us 4 long hours non-stop dizzy land trip to Don Carlos - a province of Bukidnon (250 Km away from our home). Bukidnon is famous with Del Monte pineapples, highest bridge and second tallest peak in the philippines.

I was observing the first night of Jewish Holidays as a Noahide in a certain residence just a few walks away from our home. Passover is celebrated for seven (in the diaspora meaning outside Israel, eight) days, the first and last day (in the diaspora, two days) of which are holy days and the middle days. On the first night (in the diaspora, two nights), the events of the Exodus are relived through a ritual meal, called a SEDER, at which the text of the HAGGADAH is read. During the entire duration of the Passover, Jews are forbidden from consuming, or even possessing leavened products.

The meal include its traditional foods, including matzah and bitter herbs, and feature a reading from holiday’s religious text, the Haggadah. The seder concludes the night with the traditional wish, “Hashanah haba’ah birushalaiyim” (Next year in Jerusalem).

But regardless of the faith even President Barack Obama invites friends to Passover seder . It is believed to be the first American President to host, or even attend, a Passover seder.

is the Park2Go's Supreme Pizza. Yes, you heard it right from me! This particular pizza has no pork added (Halal) yet the taste is still very good and best of all it's very affordable! At a cost of only P150, it's so so cheesy, has huge toppings and its thick crispy crusts taste even better than those commercial pizzas I have tasted. Mind you guys, you should try this when you're planning for a vacation trip here.

Jam, Mechelle and I have been to Park2Go several times and it has been consistently good, with superior service. It was our third time in that place. Portions and taste were just right, everyone loved it, and we'll all be back. Definitely this is a typical Filipino delicacy. The food is not pricy, and worth every cent. I enjoyed the whole experience, and that's what dining at the Park2Go is....an experience. So grab a friend and have a great time and meal.

There's an easy and simple way to detect the conficker/conflicker virus online without downloading any anti-virus or any removal tools. This was developed by Joe Stewart - Head of SecureWorks' Malware Research Team. It is a great chart to test whether your system has been infected by the Conficker worm. Since I haven't encountered any system infected by this virus, I cannot verify this, but looks genuine. I know it's too late to post this but the April's Worm threat is not spreading the entire the global computer systems.

Likaholix: It's Addicting like Facebook.

Likaholix, a new, personalized, web recommendation engine, launched on 04 March 2009...and boy has it been addicting for me.

Entering new things I really like into Likaholix kept me up waaaay too late last night, and I spent a couple more hours than I should have today messing around with the site. Currently, it's in beta mode and they are giving away five Amazon Kindles to their top beta users but I'm not signing up just because of the prize but for fun really.

I've decided the reason it's enjoyable to spend so much time on the site is because it elicits a whole flood of good memories. An example is that one thing I like is the Cebu Family Choice Restaurant. I ate there once after our graduation day, and it holds special memories. After I entered the info about the Family Choice Resto, I reminisced a bit about our graduation, then remembered the school Cebu Institute of Technology. So I added it to my Likaholix list of things I like. And thinking about Cebu made me remember the good times my Cebu Bloggers and I spent at Waterfront Hotel during the Digital Filipino event where I won a P500 in a raffle, I had to add WaterFront Hotel and Casino Filipino to Likaholix. If you give a mouse a cookie...

GigaOm's post reviewing Likaholix suggested the site needs to merge with a larger social network such as Facebook to gain critical mass. I haven't in my mind decided exactly what the value proposition is for me in Likaholix. I've just been busy enjoying it and recommending it to others. But I hope that at least for the first month or two it stays on it's own and grows organically.

End of My 16 Years in School Life?

I know it’s been a long long while and I make no excuses for not writing more often. But work and studies have been rather hectic. And when I'm online, a lot of things I put in small chunks on my plurk. Now, I’m going to blog my school life because I'm done with it, finally!

My school life is a very tiring life and sometimes, a boring life that always depresses me. Every day was so occupied that I had learnt a lot and felt pleased. Every day life is wake up and brunch, classes and homework, worry about future and sleep. No hope or dream! Dilemmas like whether I should do more activities every weekend and end up moaning about not getting proper rest or take more rests and still feeling lethargic. All those things will hopefully come to an end.

My primary school life can be summarized in a Table below:

My high school life was the best part of my school life, I graduated Salutatorian among the 1,000+ students in our batch and was the Best in Math awardee (Yay! I do really like dealing with numbers.) and the President of the so-called elite section of our batch. Although, I was an honor student in my 3 year-technical course in College, the awards way back in my high school days gave me more recognitions like being the Math Olympics Champ in my hometown besting more than 10 public and private schools. I got two government scholarships (Mayor's Grantee and the DOST). All of these is because of my faithfulness to worship with Him. So much with that, I admit I'm bragging myself too much at that time in which I learnt my lesson after (You must read the next paragraph to know why).

I was reaping my benefits in my college in life in MSU-IIT, enjoyed heavily all the graces from my high school. Yeah! too much not thinking of exams and my future. All were enjoyment and for fun! I got addicted in chatting at first and then in an online game. Insecurities come when most of my grades registered very low. I took my first removal exam in Physics. I learnt how to cheat. Got several 3.0 marks in major subjects. I'm very down at that time and full of discouragements. My legacy was destroyed and so my pride. Good thing, I still passed and graduate with a GPA of 1.7067 - With Honor (equivalent to Cum Laude for BS Degree). Still thankful to Him.

My laziness continues in my college life in CIT and even worst! Cutting classes, not doing my assignments, very timid, hopeless and always lack of determination to pass. Although several factors may be considered, the problem is in me. It drives me nuts when an exam is taking place because I did not study very well. More 3.0 remarks and failure to submit some home projects! Some of my high school batch mates already have their own work, degree holders and were licensed professionals already. Thinking I was left behind more pressure I felt. It was like a big and bad transformation to me (What is happening to me?! You might asked that.)

I simply lack of balance because I'm learning how to be more social than being a loner. You want to know how loner I am when I was in high school? Probably not.

Good grades are important for college success. However, there is a lot more than just academics when it comes to doing well in college. Although we should study hard enough to get good grades, that shouldn’t be our only focus on campus. Right?

In fact, being a total bookworm is not recommended, experts say we will not develop the appropriate social skills for a successful career if we are constantly isolated. We need a good balance of studying, health and social life in order to have total college success.

So Be Balance.

When YouTube Starts Killing Off Video Download Tools...

This is making me sad YouTube is starting to kill those Video Download Tools. First they sell out. Then they have their copyright bull**BLEEP**, and now, we aren't able to download them for free?? What's next? Will we have to pay to have a YouTube account?!?!

But still a good thing to know that they're only targeting those sites that give you download links. You can still use programs to rip the streams with no problem. I'll be providing a list of programs soon that would still work for downloading youtube videos for free even high definition videos will do.

Since when do you have a right to make us pay for every video we see? Nothing. Couple of retards like you don't deserve to live in a mansion, but instead, you should be in your filthy rooms like homeless peasants, YouTube.

The Video Download tool in my sidebar will no longer work... well, that's courtesy from TechCrunch Download YouTube Tool. Well, thanks to them. Hope TechCrunch can get it back up and running it soon as possible.

Friendster IM officially launched its Instant Messaging feature last February 18 released in Alpha Version - meaning the developers are generally testing the software with the client and the test environment is not open for the end user. That's why the feature is currently available only in the US and Singapore. The intended users like the Indonesians and the Filipinos which dominates the Friendster globally are still waiting for this feature to be available to them upon logging-in.

Too late for the friendster developers because almost all social networks does have this feature already.

After all the raids on Lapu-lapu and Mandaue shops, and even corporate offices in Ayala Center Cebu, the anti-piracy suits are aiming squarely at end-users. The Inquirer has reported that the Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team (PAPT) will be going after those individuals downloading music, movies and software over the Internet, even if they do so for personal use. Personally, I'm in trouble with this issue because "I Am Downloader" of most illegal stuffs in the internet. Yes! I admit that.

But we're talking hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions of folks here. My question is, do they have enough legal funds to keep their lawyers happy? Do they have the patience to see all these potential court cases through in our painfully slow justice system? Even the RIAA, which did a similar campaign in the US suing music downloaders left and right, has changed its tactic because 1) it didn’t work, they weren’t able to scare people from downloading, and 2) it was costing them a fortune.

Another thing going against them is that currently, there’s no law that categorically says these downloads are illegal. The country’s Intellectual Property Code is silent on the issue, as well as the more recent E-Commerce Law. They’ll have to lobby in Congress for this one. However, even if they do manage to amend these laws, that fact is that people’s perceptions and expectations when it comes to digital content has changed, especially the younger generation. Companies can still make money out of them, but they’ll need to evaluate their business models to keep up with the times. A little creativity on their part is called for. Beware: beating people into submission will only earn you enmity.

Today, I would like to talk about W3C XHTML validation service.This service checks the XHTML of your website and reports you if your web page have any error or warning according to standard of W3C. If you are talking about this website currently you’ll find 687 Errors, 316 warning(s) and frankly I’ve never been bothered about correcting those errors of XHTML because it takes a bit of time and believe me I’m a very lazy boy. James Benedict “JB” Cañares, a Management Accounting student of USC is the current Philippine record holder for standard speedcubing in just 10.68 seconds! He's a certified BisDak (something we should be proud of) from his hometown Iligan and one of the two Philippine delegates for World Cube Association. The record breaking event was held on April 19, 2008 at the University of San Carlos - Main Campus, Cebu. He just actually broke his own record of 14 seconds. Talents from Iligan are surprisingly great! I remember my schoolmate who was once a Philippine Representative in World Cyber Games in Korea.

Personally, I'm not fond of this speedcubing even though it's a prevailing trend in our school. I just observed my friends and watched them how to solved it. It's quite tricky but then if I have just the time, patience, interest and extra amount of determination like JB, I know I can do it or anyone can. You don't have to be a Math Whiz, as JB said in an interview in which I agree.

You might guess, our country Philippines? Because we ranked third in english speaking fluency. But actually this country is located somewhere in the middle east. That's a clue before you may google the answer. It ranks behind China and USA and has 700,000 blogs in 2005 and 100,000 actively maintained and still active today. Filipinos can't beat that because we're not fond of blogging but mostly into socializing and meeting new friends online like in Friendster and Multiply.

It took something exceptional to snap me out of my several-month blogging slump. I found this on twitter from @marshallk Iran: A Nation of Bloggers a powerful 2 minute video.

Half of Iran's population is under 25 and they are not happy with the oppressive regime. They blog about it, most anonymously for fear of imprisonment, but some are bold enough to speak out. I did not realize that Iran is the third largest blogger nation. Good stuff! Let Social media bring democracy to the masses, Obama style!

Wanna sign-up with a Facebook Clone?

They called it as "F*ckbook" aka Facebook clone. One of my online buddies, private messaged me last night about the Facebook source code he got. He showed me the site and it was pretty amazing at a first glance as shown above (The URL is hidden for security purpose), it really looks like the original Facebook specially the homepage. But, when I signed up there was some features that the clone lacks from the original FB like:

1. photo tagging
2. mobile applications
3. photo printshop
4. image reordering and upload by java uploader
5. poke system
6. shortest path

Over-all, I can say it has a good resemblance. But nothing really beats with the original because things like this will never turn out better. For me, this is not a form of stealing but somewhat creating a similar version with the real one.

I am very lucky for today because... I got caught by the Traffic Police for jay-walking for the second time around in Colon Street, Cebu - the oldest street in the Philippines. On my way to school from work. Yeah. "Got caught" as in I had to hand over my I.D to them to let them take down my particulars. I got away with a fine of $1.00 or Php 50.00). Fine. I did jaywalk. I did deserve that. But I really find no wrong in jaywalking.

It's dangerous at some point, I admit. But how dangerous can it be, where there's clearly no freaking vehicles on the road? And besides, it's rushing for time versus following the rules. Why on earth should I be at the pedestrian crossing, waiting for 1 minute plus for the lights to turn green before crossing and missing the jeepney as a result? It's a lot faster if I just cross the road when I deem it's safe to do so. At least, I can still catch the jeep and be in time for my examination.

Speaking of mock board examinations, 2 more days to Saturday! Absolute yayness for that!

Now where was I? Ah, right. Jaywalking.

Fair enough, the presense of a police officer may deter me not to jaywalk. However, once the officers are gone, I will still do my jaywalking. No big deal.

Well, anyway... I just wanna share these lots of funny excuses when you're caught for Jaywalking.

As an Electronics and Communications Engineering (EcE) Student, I was surprised greatly when Intel made a huge announcement a day after Barack Obama's inauguration.

Intel is one of my dream company to work with after my graduation (hopefully this March) but with this headline focusing on Intel's closure is very disheartening. Electronics industries are really slowing down remarkably. For ECE graduating students like me, this is a great concern for us and think if we can land a job that relates to our field of expertise or soon realized that our course is no longer in demand? Time to shift to another course like Nursing? No way...

According to the company's statement, Intel will close down its entire facility in Cavite, and that means laying off as much as 1,800 employees. It’s really saddening to see this happening, considering the fact that many of their employees have been with them for over a decade. In a TV news, a reporter was able to talk to one of the higher managers at Intel, who will be one of those employees that will be laid off.

Not just intel but other chip makers like AMD - Intel's main rival, also suffers the same economic malaise.

A Major Overhaul in my Blog

If you’ve been to my site at all in the past months, I’m guessing you’ve realized things look a bit different! I’m in the process of changing things around. I’m giving the site a fresh look and adding some of the pictures I’ve taken since the fall to my portfolio. One other thing that needed to be changed was how my blog was setup. So, all my old post templates are gone! I thought about putting them back again, but I think I’ll keep moving on perhaps. I'm still having a problem in my blog permalinks. Google is yet surprising everyone with another promising product on this year 2009, the Gdrive. Well, it's like uploading the whole computer data online and have access to it from any where on the world? Simple as that.

It's like a file hosting service, if you're used to some services like FileDen.com, Photobucket.com, etc... Gdrive might change your mind into something new like a virtual hard drive online.

They called it as the legendary “GDrive” product as one of the most anticipating product of Google this year according to the online Google Wishlist Thread.

How about the Privacy of all my uploaded stuffs here? Will it be indexed online and can be seen by everyone? Well, Mr. Big G should answer that or will they care for that? or Ads will displayed on every filtered files?

For me, this would be really awesome as it will be available for FREE! But if there's a paid feature offering unlimited space that will also be a good option. I'm sure Google will make more money out of it.

Microsoft already has its own drive in the cloud called — of course — Skydrive. As a registered Live user you get 25 GB of storage.

It is not a matter of “if” Google will launch such a service, only a question of “when”.

Image via CrunchBaseNVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 - is currently the Fastest Single GPU Card on the Planet! Whaat? Yeah, you heard it right! So spare me a dime to buy this amazing graphics card. Actually, I broke my graphics card so I'm thinking to buy another one.

The GTX 285 is what the GTX 280 should have been. In the industry, they call this a "performance kicker". It's faster, consumes less and is cheaper to produce - all the ingredients that buyers love. Yet, the little story is that NVIDIA could have made the GTX 280 be that good, but at the time, they didn't think that the Radeon 4870 would be so good and decided to spend time and resources elsewhere (hey, it's always easy to criticize in hindsight).

Anyway, this is fixed. The GTX 285 is the new sheriff in town and it sells for about $380, so that's about 15% more performance for almost half the *initial* price of the GTX 280 - not bad huh?

My Permalinks are not Crawled in Google SERPs

Something really weird is going on, and I don’t know whether the problem is with my blog, with blogger service or with google bot. My permalinks are no longer being crawled. Only the main page. This means that once a given post goes to the second page of the blog, it is no longer on google index.

Now this post, which is still on my main page, has the word
“bisdak blogger”.

As you can see, google shows that post only on the main page, but not the permalink, which is not in the index. The same is happening with all the posts written in January.

Any idea about what is causing the problem and what should I do to fix it?
