Installing Ubuntu Alongside Windows With Wubi

Installing Ubuntu alongside Windows is easy to do because Ubuntu uses an official installer for Windows called Wubi. What’s great about Wubi? With it you can install and uninstall Ubuntu in the same way as any other Windows application. Wubi was designed specifically to bridge the two operating systems, so it’s simple and safe to use.

If you’ve ever been curious about Ubuntu but are not sure about the whole installation process, or if you’re not sure about the mechanics of partitioning your hard drive, Wubi is a great solution for beginners.

Wubi is a stand-alone application that you can download to install Ubuntu from within your current Windows operating system.Wubi installs Ubuntu as a dual boot on your system, but it doesn’t manipulate any partitions; it just uses free space on your hard drive.

Follow the Steps below :

Step 1: Download & Install Wubi

Go to http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer

Click on the big orange button, Start download:

Step 2 : Run the file if using Internet Explorer, or Save File if using Firefox:

Step 3 : If you saved the file, locate the Wubi.exe file and double click it.

Step 4 : Install Ubuntu

Step 5 : Click Continue to proceed past the User Account Control message:

Step 6 : Select your Language, Username, and Password:

Enter your Password twice to verify it, then click “Install”.

Wait for Ubuntu to download and install. The entire process can take some time, depending on your Internet speed, since the downloaded file size is 700MB.

Step 7 : When installation is complete, click Finish to reboot your computer.

After your computer restarts, select Ubuntu from the Windows Boot Manager menu.

Step 8 :Wait for Ubuntu to complete installation. As you wait, click through the

slide-show to learn more about Ubuntu.

Step 9 : After installation is complete, your computer will automatically reboot.

Select Ubuntu from the Windows Boot Manager menu.

Wait for Ubuntu to load.

Step 10: At the Ubuntu login screen, enter your password and hit enter.

Fedora gives you wonderful graphical user interface. It has some cool desktop features like animated & slideshow background, power manager, disk utility, disk use analyzer, network manager. With these desktop elements you’ll be able to connect with any network more easily, can see how much disk you used & how much free, customize how your fedora laptop behave in different battery charging or non-charging scenarios. Ubuntu Installation

There are many people interested to use ubuntu but don’t know how to get ubuntu. You’re reading this post means you know a little about ubuntu. You can check out the post ubuntu to know much. Ubuntu can be installed in three way on your PC.

Install as primary os OR along with Windows or Mac (Dual Boot)
Install in a virtual machine
Ubuntu windows installer (like windows app)

Let’s start from first……

In this installation method we need to download a disc image in .ISO format, then burn on a DVD/CD and boot from CD.

To download .ISO file go to the following link

http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server/download (Server)

Here you have two option to download. One is latest version, which is currently released. And the other is LTS version, which is supported for three years from being released.
select your desired version then click the orange colored download button
The file start downloading. It may take few hour as the file size is about 700M
finishing download burn it to DVD/CD. You can use isoimageburn for to do so
Now boot from CD. Then restart your PC the following dialogue box appears. Select try ubuntu if you want to install ubuntu without any change of your current os. OR select install to install. Make sure your disk has partitioned properly if you want to use ubuntu along with Windows or Mac. Nor current os will erase.

Then select your language or which info want.
Restart PC again & get ubuntu installed

Fedora formerly “fedora core” is a RPM based general purpose collection of software including an operating system based on Linux kernel, developed by community support & sponsored by Red Hat.

According to distrowatch.com fedora is the third most visited Linux based operating system. The Fedora project was created in late 2003 when Red Hat Linux was discontinued. The name Fedora derives from Fedora Linux, a volunteer project that provides extra software for

Red Hat Linux distribution.

Warren Togami

Warren Togami began Fedora Linux in 2002 as an undergraduate project intended to provide a single repository for well tested third-party software package.

The main purpose of fedora is that the updated version of software are used with every Fedora package. One of best object of Fedora is not only contain software under Free & Open Source Software Licensed, but also to be on the leading edge of such technologies. Fedora developers prefer to make up stream change instead of applying fixes specifically for Fedora.

Ubuntu is composed of many software package ,the vast majority of which are distributed under a free software license. The main license used in Ubuntu is GNU General Public License (GNU GPL ). Which along with GNU Lesser General Public License (GNU- GPL ). So Ubuntu is free to run, copy, distribute, study, change, develop and improve. One can install ubuntu without restarting computer.

Ubuntu desktop includes a graphical desktop environment. The default desktop environment is Unity (developed by Canonical Ltd.). one can use different desktop environment such as KDE, Xfce, LXDE or GNOME while others paid operating systems don’t give this opportunity.

Ubuntu comes with installed with a wide range of software such as office, web browser or lightweight games. Every Ubuntu package has Libre Office (like MS office), Mozila firefox, Thunderbird (Email app), Transmission (bit torrent client). One can download a lot of software from Ubuntu software center for free. I’ve a list of software that is free with Ubuntu’s current version (Ubuntu 12.04). I’ll post them in my next post ……….

Ubuntu is a computer operating system based on the Debian Linux distribution and distributed as free and open source software, using its own desktop environment. The original aim of the Ubuntu developers was to create an easy-to-use Linux desktop with new releases scheduled on a predictable six-month basis, resulting in a frequently updated system.

Ubuntu's first release was on 20 October 2004. Since then, Canonical has released new versions of Ubuntu every six months with commitment to support each release for eighteen months by providing security fixes, patches to critical bugs and minor updates to programs. It was decided that every fourth release, issued on a two-year basis, would receive long-term support (LTS). LTS releases were traditionally supported for three years on the desktop and five years on the server. However with the release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, desktop support for LTS releases is to be extended to a period of five years (for example, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS will be supported until April 2017).

Ubuntu is currently funded by Canonical Ltd. On 8 July 2005, Mark Shuttleworthand Canonical Ltd. announced the creation of the Ubuntu Foundation and provided an initial funding of US$10 million. The purpose of the foundation is to ensure the support and development for all future versions of Ubuntu. Mark Shuttleworth describes the foundation as an "emergency fund" (in case Canonical's involvement ends).

Open SUSE (Based on - It self, Oriented from - Slowkware)

A stable, general-use distribution for everyone that excels in enterprise environments. openSUSE includes a few different defaults such as it’s package manager and the KDE desktop environment

One of the most stable distributions in existence, with a large selection of software. It is often used as the base of many other distributions.

Where? A computer operating system is free! when the last windows operating system named Windows7 costs about more than 80$. And Mac os x costs 29$.

I don’t think that you say this as you are reading a blog at Blogger. I say you know much about Internet & particularly about computer. So I don’t think that you don’t hear the word “Linux”. Many of us know that linux operating systems are free, But few know detail about that or wishing to get linux os but don’t know how to get or in a fear of understanding to operate. This is for those people. I’m trying to them to know about linux. Let’s see…
