RSS Feed for each group

I just added an RSS feed for each group. You can subscribe using the rss icon next to the name of the group at the top of each page. Each feed will only give you the original post for each new thread from that group. If you want to be notified about all of the posts on the site, you have to subscribe to every group's feed.

Tumblr/Blog

Some members have expressed interest in having a blog for the group. Although I realize this is common practice for many groups, I'm personally uncomfortable writing or administrating such a blog on this website. I think a blog is a very editorial and opinionated style of publishing, and although important, I don't think it should be on the official website of our occupation.

Proposed Name Change

Following discussions had today at the info table, I'm going to propose changing the name of this working group to just "Media Working Group" to reflect the larger scope of this website, a potential blog/publication, and giving this group the ability to field questions from journalists.

Occupy Online - Data from Facebook

I was at the GA yesterday. Here is the links to what I mentioned at the end - work done at UNC sociology prof and grad student on Facebook Occupy Groups. Although this is good to look at and discuss I'll just say quickly that using Facebook has its advantages and disadvantages. A downside obviously being lack of privacy. We need people to occupy the internets, newspapers, airwaves and so on and so forth. Someone volunteer to start a tumblr, or blog, or whatever it is you young whippersnappers use these days! Post stuff on facebook, too!

Forum Clean-up

Is there any way that we can set the forum up to collapse by topic, as most forums are? The forum is getting just a little bit messy, and it would be nice if you could just scan through all the posts by topic instead of hunting through individual comments.

A Call for a Blog/Publication - Editorial Content

I had a conversation yesterday that clarified the difference between OccupyWallSt.org and nycga.net for me. OccupyWallSt.org is run by an independent group, and nycga.net is maintained my the General Assembly and relevant working groups. I think the purpose of OccupyStonyBrook.org has been similar to nycga.net.
