During the Winter up here in Ottawa there's not a lot of golf action, that's why as Canadians we go indoors to golf simulators like Golf-O-Max but that's only a tease. We also immerse ourselves in the latest PGA Tour or European Tour event on the Golf Channel as well as putting in our basements. We also gawk at various online golf forums where all the new golf paraphernalia is adorned by our golf heroes.

While perusing the pictures from GolfWRX.com this week of the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open, two observations are clear I should get out more, secondly Ian Poulter is still the most stylish Pro on Tour and the wearing of Puma belts and shoes has only enhanced his look. Practice day Wednesday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Poulter looked great in some new 2012 IJP Design. TRUE linkswear Releases TRUE phx Limited Edition

TRUE linkswear has released a 2012 Limited Edition TRUE for the Phoenix Open. I have to admit it's one of my favorite Limited Edtion models from TRUE.

The phx Open LE has a White upper with Orange Stitching and White laces which has been paired with an Orange outsole with a White topline and White "spikes".

Since only 250 of these unique creamsicle beauties have been made I may be tempted to add to my collection of golf shoes. This would be my first TRUE. What do you think?

Margaritaville Eyewear Review – Made In The Shade

Late in the Fall I received some polarized sunglasses from Margaritaville Sunglasses. It was great timing as my second pair of Oakley Monster Dog sunglasses had basically worn out. Jimmy Buffet’s companies market many different products but I was curious how some shades would perform. I got to use them for the last few remaining rounds of golf the year. Here’s my feedback from some late season golf.

I got to choose which style of Margaritaville Sunglasses to test out and there are 8 styles to choose from including the Kingston style which I chose. The Kingston is a very similar style to my Oakley Monster Dog shades.

Polarization

I’ve never had sunglasses that have had polarized lenses and the Kingston shades didn’t disappoint on the golf course I was able to pick up the ball even into holes when the sun was directly in my eyes. The polarized lenses really cut down on the suns glare as well they seemed to enhance the areas that I was looking at including the greens when reading putts. I also found the polarized lenses great for when you might stray from the fairway great for picking up your ball in the rough stuff.

Look And Feel

The Kingston shades were just as light as my old faithful Oakley’s although the Kingston shades have hinges in that attach the arms to the main part of the sunglasses so you have to be careful you don’t sit on them or apply any sort of pressure. They’d probably break unlike the Oakley Monster Dogs. FYI Kingston shades come with a great Margaritaville® Case so make sure and put them in the case when not in use.

I really liked the style of the Kingston sunglasses. Fit my face well and I really like semi wraparound coverage of the Kingston.

The Little Things

Sometimes its all about the little things with a product. The Kingston shades had a few. The Margaritaville palm tree logo etching on all lenses is a nice touch as well as the “Watching the Sun Bake” Temple Printing on the inside of the arms of the sunglasses. Also really like the fact the SunGrip rubber nose pads on the glasses are comfortable and don’t rub or leave marks. Nice custom Margaritaville Case and microfiber cleaning bag to keep your shades protected and clean.

I wanted to give them a longer review so I’ve been wearing them the last few months of my new job as a RSMC with Canada Post, here are some additions.

I’m outside anywhere from a couple hours to five plus hours in some harsh conditions. I couldn’t be more happy with how the Kingston sunglasses performed reducing glare off snow and ice as well as being great at cutting down on eye fatigue which is really important on those long days delivering mail. They’ve held up well with no damage considering I’m on the go early in the morning til late in the afternoon.

Conclusion

Margaritaville Eyewear offers some great polarized sunglasses in 8 popular styles. I was really impressed by the quality of the lenses no scratches yet and the comfort is amazing. They’ve been absolutely solid on the golf course and while delivering the mail this winter with my new job. Kingston sunglasses retail for $159.95 but are on sale right online now for $79.97. A great deal if you’re in the market for new sunglasses that are 100% UV A/B Protection, you can’t go wrong with Margaritaville Eyewear.

Ryan Moore A Great Fit For Arnie Wear

So I'm checking out the pics from the latest tour event, the 2012 Humana Challenge on GolfWRX.com and I immediately notice a few pictures of Ryan Moore decked out in some new Arnie. Nothing official until I get home and see where it's been announced that Ryan Moore is the new Ambassador of Arnie Wear. Great signing for Arnie we look forward to seeing Ryan in the 50s 60s and 70s apparel from Arnie, a great fit.

Keegan Wears Tommy And So Do I

When I think of Tommy Hilfiger I think of a preppy look, one that I don't normally radiate towards when it comes to golf fashion. After getting the chance to wear and test out some Tommy Hilfiger golf apparel I really like what they've done with their golf apparel line from the the fabrics and design down to the little accents of their apparel.

Tommy Hilfiger Ladell Polo Midnight
The Ladell Polo in Midnight is a stylish striped pique polo. It uses a blend of polyester and spandex that wicks way moisture and dries quickly plus its anti-microbial to stop odor as well. Love the two-toned sleeve cuff, a great accent to a solid polo.

Tommy Hilfiger Lisbon Polo Skyway
The Lisbon Polo in Skyway is a great looking solid polo with subtle diamond design throughout shirt. The fabric of the Lisbon uses a hybrid cotton/polyester blend for a supper soft feel. Nice touch with the Tommy logo on left sleeve.

Finally what would Tommy Hilfiger Golf Aparel be without a sweater. Tommy Hilfiger combines 100% cotton in a close fitting sweater that will accent any polo .Tommy logo on the back is a nice touch as well.

A Whole Lot Of Orange - Cobra Golf Set To Launch New Amp Line

COBRA Golf is set to the launch their new AMP line of products - driver, fairways & hybrids, and irons. And it looks like they'll carry the orange them that they had in their new Trusty Rusty to their Amp line. With the inevitable signing of Rickie Fowler to a 13 club deal these clubs will be popular with most and the orange is even starting to grow on me. Favorites From The Sligo Wear Spring 2012 Catalogue

Sligo Wear has released their Spring 2012 Catalogue for all of us golf apparel junkies to drool over and order for the upcoming season. Had a chance to review some Sligo Wear apparel and they always seem to come up with some great color and designs. Spring looks awesome with the Scriver shirt in a plethora of great colors as well as well as some nice plaid shorts to complement a bevy of golf shirts for the masses. I really like the look of the track jacket again this year, I still wear mine mainly during early morning rounds. The new Ethan with its accent stitching and faux pockets I definitively find appealing and so will most Sligo fans. Hopefully we see Brian Gay sporting some new Sligo Wear this coming week in Hawaii at the Sony open.

What Will The Future Hold For The 2012 Season

Figuring out who might break through with a major victory or who might put together a season like Webb Simpson had this past season with 2 victories can always be fun to wager on. What about predicting Bill Haas winning the FedEx Cup who could of seen that coming. Golf Betting future action on if Tiger Woods will win a Major in 2012 has to be a popular bet for next year. Seeing him win the Chevron Challenge was important but can he win another Major, maybe the Masters and another green jacket. Action on how many majors Rory McIlroy will win next season will be popular as well. The young guns are on the heals of many of the vets for Major honors. Rickie Fowler Graces Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13

A great little write up from Kotaku.com about the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 Release. Nice to see Rickie Fowler win the competition to be included on the cover but will I fork out the $$$ after getting last years TW PGA Tour 12.

Calamity Jane, the fabled putter of the Augusta National co-founder Bobby Jones, graces the cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13's special edition, along with the club's signature Green Jacket. Oh yeah, some decent golfers also share the packshot of the main product on PS3 and Xbox 360.

For the third time* in as many years, Woods shares the cover of a game with his name on it. In the United States/NTSC regions, Woods is paired with American golfer Rickie Fowler. In Europe/PAL, he shares the cover with 2011 U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy of the U.K. Fowler and McIlroy were chosen for the cover by a fan-voted playoff earlier this year.

But it's the nod to history that wins me over here. Jones had two putters named Calamity Jane. The first he retired from service in 1926, after it survived a fire that consumed the rest of his clubs in 1925. It is on display at Augusta. The second is the one he used to win golf's original Grand Slam (the Open and Amateur championships in the U.S. and U.K.) in 1930.

"It is the worst putter I have ever held in my hands," said the golf writer Charles Price. "If a pro left it in a barrel of clubs in his shop at a dollar apiece, nobody would buy it." Autumn in Canada can be pretty harse when your on the golf course. Most days golfing you`ll encounter weather variable including but not limited to wind, rain, sun, sleet and snow. The Sunice Bollon was created with golf and those variables in mind.

Presidents Cup Pool - Enter Now Starts This Week!

Séamus Maher from Go For The Green Golf Pools always runs great golf pools. I really can't count how many I've been involved in this year. Great fun and you can win some cash for golf or other fun habits.This coming week is no different for the Presidents Cup.

The pool covers the Presidents Cup which consists of the following formats :

Date	Tournament Results
November 17th	Thursday Foursomes
November 18th	Friday Fourball
November 19th	Saturday Morning Foursomes
November 19th	Saturday Afternoon Fourball
November 20th	Sunday Singles

This one is going to require skill as usual. Each person has to make 6 Player selections regardless of side along with a Team selection. Points are awarded as follows:

Points are based on individual player performance in all events. In Singles, players receive 2 pts for a win and 1 pt for a half. In both Foursomes and Fourball, players receive 1 pt for a win and 0.5 pt for a half.
Team points are based on the Final Presidents Cup standings and you will receive the corresponding points of the team side selected. Example: International 19.5 pts vs USA 14.5 pts.
The top 3 contestants at the end of play, based on their aggregate points from their selections (player & team) relative to the other contestants will be the Final Prize winners.
The Prize payouts, will be as follows:

* First Place 50%
* Second Place 30%
* Third Place 20%
If 3 or more tie for first the prize payout will be split amongst all who tie.

John Daly Runs Out of Balls – Video – Australian Open

So much hype this week for the Australian Open as so many President Cup players including Tiger Woods tee it up a the Australian Open this week. Unfortunately John Daly makes headlines for his usual “Daly” behaviour on the golf course.

Everything seemed calm through the first nine holes of the tournament been then things went “Down Under”. Daly ended up playing the wrong ball (doh!!) from a bunker on the tenth hole, an automatic two-stroke penalty. Then Daly began to hit his approach shot on #11 6 or 7 times into the water. He then gave up shook his playing partners hands and walked off the course.

Apparently Daly blamed it on a lack of balls, another great one from Big John. Here’s what he said on Twitter.

Looks like John won't be invited back soon to the Australian Open and it looks like his invitation to the Australian PGA Championship has been revoked as well.
