The second bedroom was perfect for YG and RA, offering relaxing views of the southern neighborhood and a strong, reliable internet connection for staying connected throughout our stay.

never boring

The pools are fed by natural hot spring water from the Mount Makiling area, offering a more natural swimming experience without chlorine. The warm water is perfect for night swims and even more enjoyable during rainy weather.

They also have a mahjong setup at Tirta Springs, and the boys alternated between mahjong and Pusoy Dos throughout the stay.

The table tennis setup was quite popular, and they even used pickleball paddles with table tennis balls on the table.

My personal favorite is going 1-on-1 with my son in water basketball—a game that tests shooting, swimming, and dunking.

The parking area has been converted into a small pickleball court (puede na, the net isn’t great) and a street basketball setup.

Yes, they also have a new mini-billiards setup, which the boys played day and night—and it was a hit.

Singing karaoke the entire night, and there was no need for a karaoke system or YouTube- Spotify with a mic setup was enough.

Food is always key in any outing, and here it was a mix of potluck dishes and meals we cooked on-site for dinner and breakfast.

Vito’s BBQ is always a hit. The key is no duplication—one brings pizza, another roasted chicken, some chichirya, and kakanin.

We steam peanuts as soon as we arrive—good pulutan for the adults instead of chips.

Most importantly, bring enough drinks the boys will enjoy, like Yakult, Mogu Mogu, Sprite, Royal, and Coke Zero, to last the entire trip. We also make our own iced tea as general refreshment.

We are lucky to have Kuya Dan, our family driver, who knows how to grill barbecue and cook pares for us during the outing.

Make sure to have desserts like cookies, polvoron, and pastries from Baby Pat.

We had fun hosting the outing, like we had a family of 14 boys and 2 girls (day trip only) for the entire night. Raphael’s friends are the coolest—ang babait, respectful, and playful with each other. We’re always amazed by this Gen Z generation, especially their music, a mix of house, sentimental 80s, and pop love songs with a lot of hugot. It was easy and fun to feed them, and we also got to learn their food and drink preferences.

Tirta Springs Villa worked perfectly for the group, with never-boring outdoor activities, a good open kitchen setup for cooking, enough plates and utensils, and the new additions of billiards and pickleball, which were a hit among the boys.

With the Filinvest Mall set to open before year-end and a signature Filipino restaurant by Chef Carlos Villaflor on the horizon, Mimosa+ is steadily transforming into a premier lifestyle destination in Clark, Pampanga.

We spent Mother’s Day at Villa One, enjoying a relaxing staycation and exploring the best of Mimosa+ before its next wave of exciting developments opens to the public.

Villa One is directly in front of Quest+ Hotel and flanked by two smaller villas, ideal for bigger parties or multi-family staycations.

Villa One has a king-sized bed, ideal for a couple, with space for the bunso to sleep in the middle.

The restroom is spacious, with a bathtub in the center, a lounge area, and his-and-hers sinks for a luxurious bath experience.

The shower and toilet areas are located at both ends, with a transparent design that allows views across the restroom.

The sofa area is where we usually lounge and watch movies with the family. We added three extra beds around for the kiddos.

The pool was crystal clear, and the water was cool—not cold or hot—so big that it was hard to play Marco Polo.

We loved the dining area, perfect for a family of six, and enjoyed a comfortable in-room breakfast here.

There is a small pantry area for heating food or for catering use.

Welcome treats include cookies, fruits, and a handwritten welcome note, which is always nice to receive.

The in-room free bar treats are always a nice gesture—peanuts, chips, gummy candies, and good coffee.

Golf is becoming popular even among kids, often starting at the driving range near the golf course.

So far, this is the best sunset spot in Mimosa+, especially on weekends when the DJ starts playing to set the mood.

Kids can learn proper form while having fun, and there’s always that excitement when you hit the ball far.

We recommend this as a good family bonding activity—₱400 for 100 balls plus ₱100 for club rental.

mequeni live

Mequeni Live is the Kapampangan and international buffet restaurant of Quest+ Clark.

(note: “Mequeni” is a Kapampangan word that translates to English as “Come here.”)

The best feature is the live cooking of sisig, customizable to your preference, along with steaks cooked to your liking.

Sisig in Pampanga is always the best, especially right off the pan with a bit of chili and a dash of calamansi.

Great to meet Chef Danny Gonzales again, whom I first met in Misibis Bay and who is at the helm of Mequeni Live and Rare.

I also like their soup options, like laksa and other noodle soups.

The buffet had good food options, and in Kapampangan land, the food is guaranteed to be delicious.

The Pork Barbecue Ribs were our favorite—ang sarap, we had to go back for seconds and thirds.

You can find your own private nook, and the buffet is sulit for the kids but not for the parents.

For dessert, they feature a rotating ice cream display freezer similar to Admiral Club, with our fav flavors—coffee, ube, cheese.

bamboo biking

You can rent bamboo bikes from the concierge on a first-come, first-served basis to explore Filinvest Mimosa+.

There’s a biking path around the estate, with a stop at The Book Stop, an honesty library where guests can borrow and read books.

You can bike to the golf course and driving range, and explore scenic photo spots around the estate.

quest+ breakfast

We loved the in-room breakfast setup by 9:00am and the kids literally just woken up to this breakfast spread.

Breakfast favorites include longsilog, pancakes, a big breakfast, and pastries, with healthier options like a white omelette.

For a more curated and private breakfast experience, the best option is the breakfast at the Quest Club Lounge.

The vibe is relaxed and airy, the service is prompt, and you can customize your breakfast to your liking.

There’s also a wide selection of toppings and sauces for bread, pancakes, and waffles.

We love the booth tables here and the rooftop view of the golf course and the surrounding Mimosa+ estate.

The legendary foam party fun from Crimson Boracay is also held here on weekends, depending on the peak crowd.

The kids were really looking forward to this and had so much fun playing in the foam.

sunday mass

Sunday is not complete without hearing Mass at Our Lady of Remedies Chapel, just a few minutes away from the Mimosa+ estate.

Catch the 5 PM Sunday Mass in English, and make sure to arrive early to secure seats; the church is air-conditioned.

We celebrated Raphael’s birthday here and enjoyed the pleasant service and relaxed vibe, with pizzas that come out crisp and generously topped, plus juicy, well-seasoned fried chicken that’s great for sharing. “We often don’t recognise the value of something or someone until they’re no longer ours.” The value of the Nanjing trip in April 2026 was unfathomable to me. The planning of my friend group to join XNE was one of the best decisions I remain adamant about.

I still remember the excitement that sparked inside me from our school to the airport.

All I could think about was “This is going to be so much fun,” and it was far from that; it was extraordinary. The memories captured in my phone will remain some of the best.

nanjing

I can still remember the joy of everyone when we got to the dorms. It was way better than we all expected; it was like living at a hotel. We were skipping across the dorm hall, rejoicing in how great it was.

My roommate was Kris; we modified our room to have more space and look the nice and clean.

Kris and I were a part of a Nanjing group, which was called Trigault, named after the Jesuit Nicolas Trigault. I was nervous about if our group would get along, but my worries subsided when we had our first prayer circle together. It was fun to know each other, and after that I would look forward to every other prayer circle, even though it meant going to sleep late. It was a lot of fun to bond with them over random questions and then have fun in the halls after. I just wish we could have one last prayer circle. 

The next day after we settled in our dorms, we had an opening ceremony, and it took so long we were losing our minds.

Every week we would have a three-hour Chinese class in the morning, teaching us useful terms to help us converse with the locals, but it was still hard to converse properly.

Afterwards, we would have a break, then a class teaching us about the culture of China and giving us activities to further enrich ourselves in their culture.

Like making panda fans, decorating accessories, playing Mahjong, building wooden models, learning how to use a 3D pen, and learning how to play Diablo.

excursions

Every other day, when we didn’t have classes, we would go on mini field trips.

It would be to malls, famous places, culture festival, lantern festival and breathtaking views.

Traveling to different Chinese Heritage Museum,

learning about Nanjing’s historic past and certain important figures.

It was literally breathtaking when we went to the purple mountain peak; we were exhausted because it was one of the hottest days in Nanjing.

We went to the biggest zoo I have gone to and saw all kinds of animals it had to offer.

On Sundays we would go to Xin Jie Kou,

there would be multiple malls for us to go to and spend our allowance.

Before the day would end, we would go to a church nearby, and it would have the most beautiful choir performance ever.

We travelled either by bus or train; most of the time, the train would be so cramped that sometimes people would be left behind. 

food trip

Every time we would travel by bus to a location, lunchtime would always be at a table with a lazy susan on top.

The restaurants would serve local delicacies, and they would be dishes I’d never seen before. I personally also waited for mango sago to appear, but it never did. Leaving a hole in my heart that was never filled with mango sago.

When we would stay in the dorms, we would get a similar breakfast of dumplings and different variations of carbs.

At lunchtime, we usually get served duck and other types of meats we couldn’t identify with vegetables. Ending the day with dinner in a classroom, if we were lucky, we would get served McDonald’s or KFC for our dinner. 

Most days we would have free time, and we would just knock on each other’s dorm rooms to play cards, play mahjong or just hang out in the hallways.

And if we’re on our best behaviour, our advisors would let us go on a perimeter walk, and we would eat in local stores or buy snacks for our dorms.

My friend, Donn, and I would always buy ice cream, and it would taste sublime. 

hangzhou

After 21 days in Nanjing, we had our closing ceremony. Rewarding people medals and certificates for their acts during our trip. Our last night in the dorms had us realise the memories we made the past few weeks and that our XNE trip is almost to a close. The next day, we travelled to Hangzhou by bus. Entering our hotel room, inspecting how large it is compared to our dorm room, we rejoiced once again in the halls.

Going on a boat the next day to island hop and hiking a steep mountain and sliding down via grass skiing. Afterwards, we went back to our hotel to have mass and go to sleep in comfy beds. After three days in Hangzhou, we travelled to Shanghai by bus.

When we got to our hotel, we noticed how creepy it looked inside the halls and in the rooms. Nonetheless, I tried my hardest to sleep, not because it was creepy inside the room, but because we were going to Disneyland the next day.

Unfortunately for us, what was supposed to be the happiest day of the trip had the coldest and strongest rainfall we ever experienced during our stay.

We even bought matching T-shirts for Disneyland, which was heavily covered with a hoodie and a raincoat.

Even though the weather wasn’t in our favour, we still had a lot of fun. Riding Tron, Rex’s Racer, the Seven Dwarf Mine train, Battle for the Sunken Treasure, and Roaring Rapids;

and even eating a massive turkey leg, which was scrumptious.

Then riding Tron for one last time and running to the souvenir shop before we have to travel back to our hotel.

Luckily, we were able to watch the famous firework show, ending our night with a sentimental atmosphere. 

The next day, we barely made it to morning attendance, which was really early in the morning. Riding the bus to the airport, knowing all of us wanted to extend the trip. Flying to Guangzhou for our connecting flight. Landing in the Philippines, getting greeted by the hot atmosphere, and recognising that our XNE trip was over.

Saying goodbye to our XSJ friends and getting on the bus back to XSN. Everyone was getting ready to say goodbye. Arriving at XSN, seeing our family members out our windows, we got off to hug them. And it hit; most got emotional saying goodbye to each other, sealing the end of trip once and for all.

Overall, this XNE trip has given me multiple insights on living away from my family and the different hardships one has to go through after being on their own. Keeping track of one’s expenses, traveling the world of its beautiful landmarks, making unexpected friends along the way, and missing your family’s presence. After living with my friends and schoolmates for a whole month, learning different Chinese topics, eating a vast variety of food, experiencing the same events; it truly bonds you together. Even though I was in a different country, always had this feeling that I was at home in the Philippines because of the people that surrounded me. In the future, I wish to be able to be given another opportunity to go on a trip similar to this again, because it was one of the best 28 days of my life.
