Knights of Columbus 1^st Degree ceremony will be held next Saturday, February 25^th at 3:00 PM. 

 The St. Katharine Drexel community is excited to host her feast day on March 4th and see our church family from Riggins and McCall as well as our Christian friends from Cascade. Please mark your calendars and we are asking each person to bring canned or dry food for the community food bank…in honor of St. Katharine. A copy of your favorite recipe for our cookbook would be greatly appreciated as well! Mass begins at noon

 Idaho Catholic Appeal: The 2012 ICA will take place on March 3-4 in every parish in Idaho which makes up the Diocese of Boise.  This year’s theme, We Are One Body, reminds us of our unity as the one Body of Christ.  It reminds us to share our gifts for the benefit of 13 diocesan ministries.  A wide range of ministries depend on our generous support including Parish Life and Faith Formation, Seminarian Vocations Program and Idaho Retired Priests.

 All registered parishioners will be receiving a letter from the parish with a brochure and pledge envelope inviting participation in support of this year’s ICA.  Please return the completed pledge envelope to the offertory basket the weekend of March 3 & 4.  Your generosity will allow our Catholic Community to continue the many  vital programs and services that touch the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ who need your assistance Our parish goals for this year are: OLL- $15,473.64, SKD – $3,301.40 and SJ – $857.56

 Plans for Lent:  Fr. John will lead us in a short version of the Stations of the Cross lasting approximately 15 minutes:

 Riggins – after Saturday Mass

McCall – before Saturday Mass

              -after Sunday Mass

Cascade – after THURSDAY Mass.

OLL will also pray the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 5:30 PM followed by a simplified soup supper

St. Jerome’s will pray the Stations of the Cross on Friday, time to be determined.

 Lenten Retreats:  Fr. John will lead us in several retreats this Lent.  The tentative schedule is:

 Retreat for Ministers (those who serve in any capacity in the parish)  Saturday, March 3^rd  from 2:00 to 5:00 PM – bring notebook and your Bible

 Retreat for Youth:  From Grade 4 up – Saturday, March 10^th – bring a notebook and Bible

 Retreat for Entire Parish:  Saturday, March 17^th – Bring notebook and your Bible.

 Retreat for St. Jerome’s :  Saturday, March 24^th following the 9:00 AM Mass – bring a notebook and Bible.  The retreat will last for 3 hours.

 Prayer Chain:  All who are interested in forming a prayer chain for Our Lady of the Lake are asked to contact Terry Dorris @ tdorris@frontiernet.net   or by phone @ 315-0359.  Terry will also be the point of contact when the prayer chain is activated.

 Calling all Cooks! St. Katharine Drexel Community is in the process of compiling recipes for a cookbook fund raiser.  We hope to include favorite recipes of members of all three communities.  Please submit them to Bette Joe Clapp  PO Box 311 Cascade, ID  83611 or by email

 We continue to collect phone books and aluminum cans for recycling and quality donated items for resale on Craigs List and eBay.  For those items please contact Mary Heinrichs @ 315-2799 and leave a message or email her @ xfox24@gmail.com for further instructions.  Due to lack of storage space please do not deliver items to the church.

This weekend, our parish will take up the annual Collection for Black and Indian Missions.  Our financial contribution helps to support Catholic American Indian communities on reservations, in rural areas and inner cities.  The collection also supports African American evangelization programs particularly in the south. This was also the cause at the heart of the mission of St. Katharine Drexel.

The line- up of speakers for this year’s conference is very dynamic. The theme, ARISE! at the sound, will challenge you to respond to the call of Christ in your life. Attention Middle and High School Students: Our first annual Winter retreat will be held in the youth room at Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday, February 4. This will be a one day retreat beginning at 10am and ending at 6pm. This retreat is
brought to us free from Blessed Sacrament High School Retreat Team in Ontario, Oregon. The retreat title is: Dreams, over the rainbow and under fire. This theme is meant to better prepare you for the challenges faced by youth in our world today. Please join us if you are in Middle or High School, and be prepared to experience a vibrant faith from the youth at Blessed
Sacrament Church in Ontario. Flyers for this retreat are available on the table downstairs, or you may contact Beth Rainford 634-5368 for more information.
Soup & Scripture: Our Lady of the Lake will host on January 25 and are in need of volunteers to help cook food for the 30 high school students who attend weekly. Please speak to Beth Rainford if you would like to help with this.

Respect Life Sunday is January 21^st.  The March for Life will begin at 1:00 PM at Julia Davis Park with a RALLY to follow at the State Capitol steps.

Our Lady of the Lake Parish Meeting was held Thursday, January 12^th.  An interim committee was formed with
coordinators for all ministries and organizations in the church until a Parish Pastoral Council can be formed by election.
A list of those coordinators and the ministry they represent will be published by next week.  Please keep the development of the parish in your prayers.

Children’s Christmas Program: Sunday, December 11^th the children of the parish will host the coffee hour after Mass in the Education Center. They will also present a Christmas skit entitled: What God Wants for Christmas. Please plan to attend.

2012 Calendars have arrived: Please pick one up at the door to the church.

“Our Giving Tree. The tags on our “giving tree”  represent children and adults from our parish and community who could benefit from our generosity, and are meant to

brighten their homes on Christmas Day. Tags requesting p.j.’s, socks, and age appropriate book are for children served by our local food bank.

1.  Take a tag/tags, follow directions on the tag regarding gift(s)

2.  Wrap your gift(s) and attach the numbered tag to the gift.

3.  Bring back to church and place under the giving tree or by the food bank basket in church kitchen area.  Please return your wrapped gifts no later than Sunday, Dec. 18th.

Handmade Gift Items: A table of handmade items are available for sale in the Parish Hall. All proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to the food bank. Thank you Barbara Strickler for your generous donation of time, talent and treasure.

First Sunday: Please join us for First Sunday at St. Katharine Drexel. Everyone is invited to join in after Mass and enjoy the company of one another.
