I’ll be posting on this blog a series of monthly gardening tips for the Tucson area plus other notes from time to time. This is the first of the series. As it’s written, “The longest journey begins with a single step.” (attributed to Lao Tze, founder of Taoism)

My tip for January is short and sweet: Turn off your irrigation systems. Most plants don’t need water this month. That’s the general rule. Check with your local expert for exceptions.

Lee D. Bowser, Our Landscaper, Tucson, AZ and his crew has completed an approx. 2,000 square foot garden for us. We are unfamiliar with plants from the desert area and could only provide Mr. Bowser with a garden statue and the request that the garden be “crisp” as opposed to “fussy.” He designed a garden that was just what we could see in our mind’s eye, but were unable to describe due to our lack of knowledge of the native vegetation. Not to mention, the area had been an unkept dog pen and that was all we could see when we looked at it.

His crew is competent, neat, and courteous. A pleasure to have around. They are also knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. We would both highly recommend Mr. Bowser and company for any of your landscape needs.
