Mobile speech to speech traslation software by Google

A speech to speech translation softwares is being developed by google, using two technologies already known by them: voice recognition, used in voice search application and available in several platforms like BlackBerry, Android, Nokia, iPhone, WinMo, and more. And of course, translation software currently used in the google translation tool supporting a lot of languages.

According to Franz Och, Google’s head of translation services,this service will be possible in a few years, and it will work like current translation people do translations, after one person speaks, the translator will translate a package, sentence or idea to the other person by its cell phone.

Android version of wordpress mobile was released two months ago, have you used it?, Good impressions?. The video above shows the wordpress mobile version for Android.
The blackberry version now is capable of uploading videos taken with your bb camera, it works great on OS 4.6+ devices, but in 4.5 like 8310, it doesnt work well, maybe because of low memory.

New Blackberry browser could be faster than Android’s

When RIM bought Torch Mobile I though that the blackberry browser will be improved, I currently owned a 8310 BB and the browser sucks compared to iPhone, Android, Skyfire…, but according to Kaufman Bros analyst Shaw Wu, RIM is planning to use its WebKit-based BlackBerry browser, and this version will use push technology to load sites 30%-60% faster than other browsers.

Webkit is a techology used for browsers like the iPhone’s, Android’s, and Symbian. Alhough Maemo uses Firefox mobile.

You can also try meanwhile another Third party browsers, like Opera and Bold for blackberry.

The Distimo Report is a monthly look at the five big application stores: Apple App Store, BlackBerry App World, Google Android Market, Nokia Ovi Store and Windows Marketplace for Mobile. You can download it on their site click here.

December 09 report show us interesting insights:
- In Google Android Market, 65% of the publishers are located in the United States, 12% in the United Kingdom, 20% in Europe (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Spain) and 3% in Japan.
- Publishers located in Europe price their applications highest with an average of $4.42, which is 49% higher than publishers located in the United States. The United Kingdom comes second with an average of $3.31.
- Applications in Apple App Store, Google Android Market and Nokia Ovi Store are priced at around $3.50. Windows Marketplace for Mobile and BlackBerry App World are more expensive, averaging $6.99 and $8.26 respectively.
- Because of Microsoft’s market validation guidelines and additional fees for distributing applications in more than one country, the number of applications available in some countries is only a small percentage (<5%) of applications available worldwide.
