Spending on Home Remodeling Expected to Rise in 2012

According to a recent article from Appliance Magazine, the home remodeling industry is expected to make a healthy comeback in 2012. The article reported that the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University has predicted that spending on home remodeling will be up by 5.9% at the end of 2012.

Low interest rates and steadily increasing pending home sales are among the contributors to the expected rise in home improvement activity. Here’s what director of the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center told Appliance Magazine

“Unusually mild weather this past winter in many parts of the country accelerated the pace of homebuilding and home improvement activity . . . This may produce a brief pause in remodeling activity this quarter, but then a strengthening economy should provide a foundation for continued growth moving forward.”
