Macy's Seattle Holiday Parade and Santaland 2013
When: Friday, November 29, 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Where: Downtown Seattle
The annual parade begins at Seventh Avenue and Pine Street; loops through downtown streets ending at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street. The parade features more than 25 inflatable floats, marching bands and drill teams and culminates with Santa’s arrival. On the 6th floor of downtown Macy’s you can visit Santa in Santaland starting at 11 am after the parade. The Macy’s Star will be lit for the holiday season that evening at 5 p.m.

Macy's Star Lighting and Fireworks Show
When: Friday, November 29, 5:00 pm
Where: Westlake Center 400 Pine Street, Seattle
Macy’s will continue the tradition of the Holiday Star Lighting Ceremony in conjunction with the annual Seattle Westlake Center tree lighting. This event begins at 5 p.m. and will include an incredible fireworks display (weather permitting).

Gingerbread Village
When: Nov. 26 – Jan. 1
Where: Sheraton Seattle Hotel lobby
Each year, talented Sheraton chefs are paired with local architects and together they spend more than 400 volunteer hours each year designing, baking and building the colossal gingerbread village that welcomes more than 100,000 visitors. This year the display will bring nursery rhymes to life.

Woodland Park Zoo’s WildLights

Where: Woodland Park Zoo

Argosy Christmas Ship Festival
When: Nov. 29 – Dec. 23 Times and departure locations vary
Decorated with thousands of white lights, the Spirit of Seattle – the Official Christmas Ship – leads a flotilla of brightly lit boats during the Argosy Christmas Ship Festival. Each night, the Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities. Choirs onboard sing 20-minute performances to these communities, all broadcast via a state-of-the-art speaker system.

Seattle Center Winterfest

The 74-acre Seattle Center campus, illuminated in twinkling lights, sets the scene for five weeks of free and affordable, fun-filled activities and entertainment. Winter Train and Village and Winterfest Ice Rink return, along with Saturday afternoon ice sculpting and performances by more than 100 student groups.

Ride the Ducks Holiday Lights Tour
When: Nov. 30 – Dec. 30, weekdays 6 p.m., weekends 5 p.m.
Where: Westlake Park Grab some holiday bells and hop on board a sleigh ride tour of the holiday lights in downtown Seattle with a wacky captain. This 40-minute adventure tour is a party on wheels.

Stowell & Sendak Nutcracker
When: November 30 – December 29
Where: Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, 301 Mercer St., Seattle
Pacific Northwest Ballet’s one-of-a-kind Nutcracker is a favorite holiday tradition. 200 dancers, gigantic moving sets, a snowfall, and many other surprises fill the stage at every performance.

The Great Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition

It's Not Too Late - Spend the Holidays in Your Own New Home!

As the holiday season draws closer, many area homebuyers are looking to capitalize on some great promotions and get moved in before the year ends.

We’re seeing quite a lot of interest in all of our communities that have quick move-in homes available and the first thing most buyers ask is if they can close and move in before the new year. In most cases, the answer is yes!

We currently have six north end and Snohomish County neighborhoods with a total of 28 new homes that are available for immediate closing and move in. Here are some brief details about each community:

North Creek Estates is a quiet lane of five new homes in the North Creek/Mill Creek area near Bothell. They all have impressive standard features like granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and extensive hardwood flooring. All homes here are ready for quick move-in.

Larimer Highlands is a neighborhood of beautiful new view homes overlooking the Snohomish River Valley and Cascade Mountains. There is one home left and it is finished and ready for a buyer.

CreekWalk is an exciting new community in North Marysville with prices starting in the $200’s. It has private access to Strawberry Fields Park and all 72 acres of sports facilities, trails, picnic areas and an off-leash dog park. The community just opened on November 2 and there are eleven homes available now.

Pacific Meadows in Marysville is completely sold out except for the sales model, which is loaded with added extras and upgrades and ready for immediate move-in. The neighborhood is close to the Seattle Premium Outlets and Lakewood Crossing shopping center and features private community parks, quiet streets, and beautiful homes.

As an added holiday promotion, we have reduced prices by as much as $34,000 on many of our move-in ready homes and are also offering zero closing costs through two of our three preferred lenders. Home purchases must close by December 20, 2013 to qualify.

Area home prices have increased over 13% during the past twelve months according to a recent (October 29, 2013) Seattle Times article. According to Trulia chief economist Jed Kolko, area home prices are still undervalued when comparing prices to historical trends. And the Seattle market is not in the overvalued or undervalued category.

So what does all this mean to a prospective buyer?

Basically, it looks like home prices will likely continue their rise into next year. So if you’re thinking about a new home we encourage you to act now for significant savings. Interest rates are also still near historical lows and there is a good inventory of new homes available.

Spring into Yard Care

Spring feeding is the key to a greener, healthier lawn this summer.

After a long winter we are finally on the verge of spring here in the northwest! It’s the time of year to dust off the lawnmower and start thinking about your lawn, flowerbeds and shrubs. Below are a few tips and suggestions to help you get your yard in shape for the upcoming growing months. Let’s begin with the lawn. Probably the most important thing to do right now is to fertilize now and set up a schedule that will keep applying fertilizer every six weeks throughout the spring and summer months. Putting down turf building fertilizer on regular intervals will help build strong roots to get your lawn through the drier periods that come later in the summer. Plan on mowing your lawn once a week and set your mower height to about 2 inches. Your trees and shrubs also need some attention this time of year. Like the lawn, you should apply a good general fertilizer to your shrubs, perennials and trees. Osmocote is a good brand available at most any home or garden center. Nature should do its part in keeping everything moist, but if you have newly planted items, make sure to keep them moist if they dry out. Concentrate your watering efforts on the root ball and not the foliage for maximum benefits. Some other general tips include keeping leaves and other debris off of the lawn to maximize exposure from the sun. It takes several days of warm, dry weather to eliminate wet spots on the lawn. And don’t forget to fertilize! Summer is on its way with all of the outdoor activities and fun that come alone with it. Get your yard ready for barbecues, family fun time and relaxing in the sun.

In our last several blog posts we’ve talked about the strengthening local real estate market. Home values are increasing, interest rates remain low, supply is down and houses are selling almost as fast as we can build them. All of our new home communities are experiencing tremendous sales and we have released new lots in most of our neighborhoods. Here’s an update on Alder Way. To refresh your memory, Alder Way is a neighborhood of 50 homes located near the junction of Interstates 5 and 405 in Lynnwood. Great news for us, but it puts a bit of pressure on those looking for new homes in Lynnwood when supply is getting a bit limited in certain areas. We’ve already planned for this increased demand and will release all phase two lots in this community coming in spring. Larimer Highlands Releases Remaining Lots

It's easy to see why Larimer Highlands is one of Snohomish County's most popular new home communities.

Larimer Highlands, our premier community of luxury view homes near Mill Creek and Everett, has just released the final 19 lots available for building this week. We’ve profiled this community several times since it opened back in October, 2011 both on this blog and in the Everett Herald and Seattle Times and the incredible response we’ve received from area buyers has exceeded our expectations. Homes are selling as fast as we can build them and we’re quickly reaching the sold out level! Once these last 19 lots are sold, we can close the books on another great Pacific Ridge community.
