My son is going through a weird phase right now where many cloth diapers are fitting him pretty strangely in the tummy. So I was giddy when I found that the Modia Pocket Diapers fit him so well across the stomach, plus they are dang cute!

In this review, I am going to show you the features of this cloth diaper, and show you how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats Pocket Diapers Survey based on how it worked on my kids.

Waterproof

The outside is made out of a waterproof PUL that comes in a variety of colors and prints.

What I love about the diaper is that (a) there are cute prints and (b) the tabs are a DIFFERENT color. That’s so different from all the diapers out there.

Stay Dry

The inside is made out of a stay dry suedecloth so that the baby doesn’t feel wetness up against his/her skin.

I personally am not a huge fan of suedecloth, simply because I find that my son is more sensitive to wetness with that fabric, but I know many of you like it, so it might be great for you!

Pocket Diaper

This is a pocket diaper, which means there is an opening in the back where you can put in an insert (which is what absorbs the pee).

I found that it actually fit my beloved Knickernappies SuperDo JUST fine for nap time. It was a little tight, but it still worked!

Sizing

The diaper is one-size, which means it is meant to fit the baby from birth to potty training. You adjust the sizing using the three-row snap down rise in the front. Snap it all the way down on the bottom row for the smallest sizing. Snap to the middle row for the medium, or have it totally unsnapped for the largest setting.

Smallest setting:

I always used the largest setting on my kids. My son is 27 pounds (a normal weight range for his height and age) and is so close to growing out of it, but that has been the case with almost all of our cloth diapers (I really feel for those of you with larger babies!).

Belly Elastic

The diaper has a band of elastic across the belly for a good fit.

Like I said before, this was my favorite thing about this diaper. The fit rocked across the tummy.

Snap Closures

The diaper comes with snap closures, which also features crossover tabs to allow you to get a good fit on a smaller stomach.

Of course you all know I wish it came with hook and loop closures, but as we found in our Features Survey, most cloth diaper users prefer snap closures. One neat thing about these snaps, though, is that they are all a different color. This way you can easily see what size setting you are on. This is GREAT for me, since I tend to start to get a diaper on where it is a little more over to one side than the other (in fact, this happened just two minutes ago when I changed my son’s diaper). But with this diaper, I just know what setting my son is on, so if I am setting it on a different color setting than what I am used to, I know I am doing something wrong (me? Wrong? That NEVER happens…). Another thing is how the snap closure colors are different and match the print. I love this!

Insert

The diaper includes 1 hemp fleece insert and 1 bamboo liner/doubler

This insert is VERY trim. It is long, so you fold it in half. I actually folded it in half, and then folded it over a bit more in the front so that there were 4 layers of absorbency at the front of my son. It is so nice that you can adjust the absorbency with this. I did not find that the liner/doubler added much more absorbency to this, but I found this diaper to be pretty absorbent on its own (for daytime use).

They are a “Made in the USA” company. Everything from the cutting materials, putting in snaps, and all the sewing is done by moms in Michigan.

Price: $21.95

Survey Response

Here is how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats Pocket Diapers Survey based on how it worked on my two kids. My 2-year old son is of normal build and weighs 27 pounds. My 3 1/2 year old daughter is skinny and weighs 29 pounds (she uses diapers for naps and nights). Both are normal wetters.

Notes on Responses:

Absorbency rating is for daytime use (excluding naps)

Worth the price–this is tough. It is really cute and functional, but if you have a larger baby it might not last as long. If you do have a larger baby, you might want to check out our chart that sorts cloth diapers by their rise height and crotch width.

My husband (the skeptic) wasn’t a huge fan of the snaps or with stuffing–but I know many skeptics out there don’t mind!

Nap use: It didn’t work well as is (clothes were damp), but I added a microfiber insert and it worked perfectly

Night Use: It didn’t work too well as a night diaper as-purchased, but when I added a SuperDo it worked much better. We did experience minor dampness at the legs (not enough to get clothes wet, but it was on the outside of the diaper).

The diaper is VERY trim. Please note that I rarely dole out a “5″ to any diaper. I think the one diaper that gets my hoots and hollers for being a 5 is the Geffen Baby Quick Absorbers Plus insert.

While I was there, I made a handy-dandy handout to share with attendees. In this handout, I break down the top-scoring diapers at Padded Tush Stats. Since the event, we’ve had many of you request a copy of this handout.
Below are the top-performing diapers based on thousands of survey responses at www.paddedtushstats.com (you can fill out surveys on cloth diapers you have tried HERE.

One of my favorite places ever is Origins. It’s an amazing store and once a month my sister in law and I go there and get pampered. The biggest thing about the place is that it smells absolutely AMAZING. So imagine my GLEE when I found a wipe solution that smells just like that store. Who knew wiping my babies’ butts would suddenly transport my mind to pamper city.

So in this review, I want to show you some of the Balm! Baby products that I have tried and tell you how it worked. I want to give you a heads up that I am pretty positive in this review, but if you are a regular PTS follower, you know that I am not ever afraid to be honest and talk about when a product doesn’t work for me–it’s just that this company’s products worked so very well.

<img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-9500" title="Balm! Baby Diaper Cream, Sunscreen, and Hand Sanitizer" alt="Balm!

Balm! Baby Juice Those Wipes

This is made of a blend of herb-infused oils and essential oils:

Chamomile & calendula infused olive oil

Poly 20

Witch hazel (non-alcohol)

THinc. liquid Soap

Essential oils: orange, lavender & tea tree

Vitamin e-T50

Rosemary oil extract

One bottle makes 24-48 batches. I don’t have the bottle pictured here, sorry!

It is vegan, nut free, and gluten free

This is natural and organic.

My favorite thing about this wipe solution is that most of the kinds out there you have to dissolve in warm water and spend a bunch of time diluting (especially the wipe cubes). That’s way more steps than I care to take and rarely can I get the smell potent enough, so I normally give up and just do water and maybe a few drops of baby soap. But I LOVE this stuff. I just fill my wipe container with water, drop a bit of this stuff in, shake it, and add the wipes. SO easy. It goes on perfectly and smells fantastic (I am always SO paranoid about how my kids smell in the morning after wearing a fitted diaper, so I love that I can wipe them down and they smell great).

Price: $13.95

Balm! Baby Diaper Cream

I also tried out the diaper cream. We were struggling with a diaper rash on my son for days because of a new medicine he was on. We put this on and within a day it was almost completely gone. Here’s photo proof:

I like this stuff. It is a bit more thick and paste-like than others I am used to, but once it warms up it goes on great. It is also cloth-diaper safe (yay!).

Ingredients:

Olive, coconut, macadamia nut oil** & sesame seed oil* infused in noni, calendula, chamomille, comfrey & rosemary, candelilla wax, St. John’s wort extract, chickweed extract, neem oil, kukui nut oil**, vitamin e T-50, Organic Essential oil blend of orange, lavender & tea tree

Price: $7.96

Other Products

I was able to try some other non-cloth diapering products:

I tried the hand sanitizer, which sprays on. I used this every day after day care. I just give the kids a quick spritz on the hands. I don’t think I can really judge whether or not it reduce the odds of getting sick, but it is FDA approved to kill germs. I couldn’t get over how easy it was to use. It did stay wet (as opposed to many alcohol-based ones that dry up fast), so my kids had to wipe their hands on <del>my shirt</del> a towel.

I also tried the sunscreen. My kids don’t get sunburnt at all because I don’t have them in the sun for large amounts of time. But I like to put this on them for extra security. Again, this stuff smells great.

I am really a huge fan of this line. Because my daughter has nut allergies, I was even able to customize my order (since they normally contain macadamia nuts). You can make yours nut-free for no additional charge.

Where To Buy: You can see who carries these products by typing in “Balm!” in the Cloth Diaper Retailer Database (www.clothdiaperretailers.com). You can compare retailers based on shipping costs, location, and even specials they have going on. Many of them even post exclusive discounts for Padded Tush Stats followers. If you buy from those with an asterisk (***) next to their name, a portion of your purchase goes towards supporting this site, so thank you in advance!

Have You Tried These Products?

If you have tried these products, please head on over to our Cloth Diaper Accessories Survey and take a quick, 2-minute survey on how this cover worked for you. Survey responses go towards detailed statistical reviews. Users can also compare statistics on accessories by going HERE.

Although THinc provided this diaper for review, it did not impact the opinions reflected in this post.

A while back, I posted some pictures of my daughter’s Imse Vimse swim diaper on our Facebook Page, and many of you RAVED over its cuteness. I don’t blame you–the swim diaper is so cute. And it just so happened to match my daughter’s swimsuit! Score!

In this review, I am going to walk you through the features of the swim diaper, and show you how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats Swim Diaper Survey based on how the swim diaper worked on my daughter.

Sizing

The diaper comes in a large number of sizes (SEVEN!) so you can be sure to get one that has the best fit on your child.

Size

Age

Weight

Newborn

0-1 months

9-13 lbs. / 46 kg

Small

1-3 months

11-17 lbs. / 58 kg

Medium

3-6 months

15-22 lbs. / 710 kg

Large

6-15 months

20-26 lbs. / 912 kg

Extra Large

15-24 months

24-31 lbs. / 1114 kg

Super Large

2-3 years

28-35 lbs. / 1316 kg

Junior

3-4 years

35-44 lbs. / 16-20 kg

My daughter used the size extra large and it was the perfect fit.

Swimsuit

You can actually wear this as a swimsuit bottom. In other words, you don’t need anything overtop of it. In fact, you can even purchase a matching Tankini top made by Imse Vimse.

I used this alone as a swimsuit bottom (in other words, nothing overtop of it). Because this matched the Target Swimsuit we had perfectly, I didn’t purchase the Imse Vimse Tankini top.

Materials

The outside is made out of a nylon fabric that feels just like a swimsuit. The inside is made out of PUL. The elastic at the waist and legs is made of soft lycra.

I was disappointed that there wasn’t at least a little padding in case of a pre-pool trickle accident! I understand that padding in a swim diaper absorbs pool water and weighs the baby down, but my children reviewed the Charlie Banana Swim Diaper and Training Pants, which has some padding and didn’t weight the baby down. But the Imse Vimse did do a good job of keeping in poop–which is most important in the pool. I did like that because this was essentially like a swimsuit bottom, I didn’t need to put a swimsuit overtop of it.

Side Snapping

The swim diaper has two snaps on one side to allow you to get it off and on.

This is my FAVORITE thing about the swim diaper (aside from its cute exterior). I can’t stand peeling a wet swimsuit off a child (or heck, even off of myself!)–so the snaps on the side make it SO easy. It is also awesome in the event of a poop–I don’t need to try and pull a clingy, poopy, wet diaper down my child’s legs (which usually would inevitably lead to a poop trail down the legs–pardon the TMI, but you need to know that when considering purchasing swim diapers and training pants!). So this swim diaper makes this process so easy and mess-free.

Price $17.95

Survey Response

Here is how I would fill out the Padded Tush Stats Swim Diaper Survey based on how it worked on my little one. My daughter used this from 23-29 pounds and was ages 2-3 when using it. I used this one for a longer period of time because I was waiting for her to poop in it to see how it fared in the pool:

Summary: Really this diaper would be so worth for my kids it if it had some padding. I just have had my kids accidentally pee SO MANY times while we were waiting to get into the pool. And having that pee trickle down on on the floor (and at one point on my sister-in-law’s living room floor!) was embarrassing. I know the argument that many have about padding weighing the baby down, so to each his own. But even just a LITTLE would help here. I love the fit on this and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the side snapping feature.

Where to buy: To find out who carries this product by going to www.clothdiaperretailers.com and type in “Imse Vimse”. You can see who carries them and compare things like shipping, specials, location, and more. We put out a monthly call to all retailers to get their sales for the month, and many even provide exclusive discount codes for our readers, so it is definitely worth checking out before you ever make a purchase.

Have you had a chance to check out my Koala Huggerz Fitted Cloth Diaper review yet? That is still a diaper we are using at night time in our house. In this post, I am going to show you a daytime option for cloth diapering, the Koala Huggerz All in One Cloth Diaper. I will show you the features of the diaper and show you how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats All in One Survey based on how it worked on my two kids.

Sizing

The diaper comes in five size options: newborn, small, medium, large, and one size. The one size is meant to fit babies that are 7-35 pounds. You adjust the sizing on that using the rows of snaps in the front.

I used the one size version on my kids, completely unsnapped for the largest setting for my daughter and on the second to largest setting for my son. It fit both kids very well and there is plenty of room for growth (moreso than most of our one size diapers right now)

Smallest Setting:

Closure

You have two closure choices for this diaper: hook and loop or snaps. The hook and loop closures have laundry tabs so that the closure doesn’t snag on other items in the wash.

I found that the closure worked very well and made this diaper very easy to use. The one concern I had was that the closure strip was too close to the stomach, so it often scratched my little guy’s tummy.

Materials

The inside (the part touching the baby’s skin) is lined with a stay dry microfleece

This felt soft against my baby’s skin. The one downside is since it wasn’t too absorbent, the “stay dry” often felt wet (this tends to happen if a diaper isn’t quite absorbing as much as needed).

The outside is made out of a waterproof PUL fabric in a variety of prints and colors.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the print options, but I know that totally changes depending on each person’s taste!

This is an all in one diaper, which means that all of the stuff that you need to absorb pee is sewn right into the diaper. The material sewn in is bamboo.

I found that there just wasn’t enough to hold in my son’s pee, so we had a good number of leaks (I was so bummed about this because I loved the trimness of it!). There is a booster that comes with it, but I found that it was more like a liner than a booster, since it was only one layer of fabric. I did make sure the diaper was fully prepped–and I made sure it just wasn’t a rapid-peeing issue (sometimes my son pees too fast for some diaper materials to absorb quickly enough). So I ended up finding this diaper worked for day use if I was around the house and didn’t worry as much if it leaked.

Survey Response

Here is how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats All in One Survey based on how it worked on my two little ones. My two year old is 26 pounds and my 3 1/2 year old is 29 pounds. Both are normal wetters (in quantity), but tend to pee pretty fast.

Trimness

This diaper was one of the more trim All in Ones that my son has tried, so I was very happy with that.

Worth the Price

I felt like the price was a bit steep given my absorbency issues. You are paying for the bamboo interior, which tends to be more pricey, yet more absorbent.

Liked by Skeptics

This works very well for skeptics because it is SO easy to put on. I also like that everything is sewn in–some all in ones have a tongue flapping around and I find that skeptics look at that as a hassle–they want it to look JUST like a disposable. This one does.

Nap/Night Use

I could have some luck laying in a Ones & Twos Booster, but it still wasn’t totally bullet proof at night. I also couldn’t get anything to hold my son’s massive night pee, so I definitely think this is more of a daytime diaper for us.

Drying Time

Because the insert is completely sewn in and there are no pockets at all, it took quite a while to dry (this also tends to happen with any bamboo diaper because bamboo is good at holding in moisture…which is also why it is a good choice for an insert material). I found that if I gave it a few extra minutes than the rest of the diapers, it would get dry in time. Or I would just lay it out and it would finish drying by the next day.

In this post, I will tell you in detail how the Imagine One Size Stay-Dry All in One Cloth Diaper worked on my little guy.

 Sizing

The diaper is one size, which means it is meant to fit the baby from 8-35 pounds.

My very first observation of this diaper is that it has a fantastic fit. However, I fill say that I can’t imagine (<—Ha! No pun intended) this working on a child much bigger than my kids (my daughter is a petite 30-pound 3 year old and my 2-year old son is 26 pounds).

You adjust the sizing using the four-row snap down rise in the front. You snap the top and bottom row together for the smallest setting, the top and middle row together for the medium setting, or leave it totally unsnapped for the largest setting.

My son used the largest setting and he weighs 26 pounds.

Waterproof

The outside of the diaper is made of a waterproof PUL fabric. This means you don’t need a cover with it.

One downside is that there are only solid prints available. I’d love for some cute prints. But, I will say, I think the solid colors are some of my favorites that are carried by cloth diaper companies. They are so bold and I love how they contrast so well with the black Imagine label.

Stay Dry

The inside of the diaper is lined with fleece. This helps the diaper feel more dry once the baby has wet in it. Since fleece wicks moisture away from the bum, it can also help prevent rashes if your child doesn’t have any allergies to fleece.

My son is VERY sensitive to wetness, so this is a must for us.

Absorbency

The diaper has a soaker made out of 4 layers of microfiber.

This diaper performed very well by day, but somewhat weaker at night. It was difficult to add absorbency to it for night use, but you could lay a smaller insert underneath the microfiber insert.

The soak snaps into the diaper for faster drying.

One of the biggest critiques people have of all in ones is that they don’t dry fast enough. Because this insert can snap out, it dries very quickly. In fact, I actually didn’t unsnap it and found that air could easily get around the snap area and dry everything well (<—that’s hard to explain. I’m just saying since fewer parts were attached to the insert, air could get to them and it dried faster).

Closures

The diaper comes in both snap closures and hook and loop closures. The hook and loop closures come with laundry tabs so that you can fold down the closure and it won’t snag or stick to other items in the wash.

One downside of the snap closures is that they do not overlap. Sometimes it is nice to have the option to overlap snaps in case you need a tighter fit around the baby’s waist. You do, however, have the ability to overlap the hook and loop closure.

Survey Response

Here is how I would fill out a Padded Tush Stats All in One Cloth Diaper Survey based on how this cloth diaper worked on my little guy. I have a 2 year old (who used this for 18-23 months) who is a normal wetter.

Notes on responses:

The diaper worked SO well by day. I was very pleased. My son did have some leaking at the legs at naptime or with a heavy accident, but that’s it.

This diaper does run much smaller than the pocket. Carolyn and I got a good giggle when we held the pocket up next to it. It made this diaper look like a newborn. So my son is starting to grow out of this diaper, but still has plenty of wiggle room in the pocket diaper.

Since it wasn’t absorbent enough for night use, and it was tough to lay inserts under the insert, it wasn’t a good night choice. But to be honest, I tend to like to keep my all in ones for daytime anyway so it is easy for my husband and any babysitters to use, so it’s inability to hold up at night didn’t bother me. You could not use the snap at all and lay in something like hemp, but at that point I always wonder why people don’t just use a cover.

Note the price point. At only $10.95 this is an incredibly good deal.

I can’t emphasize enough how easy this diaper is to use. One of my favorite cloth diapers of all time is the bumGenius sized (which is now discontinued) and this is just about as good as that one (with the exception that you can’t stuff a pocket to add absorbency).
