Despite my statement in the episode, this is only the fifth podcast, but it was a fun one. I tried using a usb microphone instead of my laptop mic and the background noise got a little hairy. I won’t be using it again and I tried to filter out as much mic fumbling as I could, but it still sounds pretty bad some most of the time.

I was a bit harsh on Brett’s YouTube series, mostly because one video hardly constitutes a series, and this thing hardly constitutes a video. But whatever, his mom loves it. School starts in a week, and hopefully so will more frequent updates, although at a pace of 5 every 9 months, nearly anything would be better.

So, tea was just spilled on my keyboard, I’m going to cut this short. Cheers.

This podcast was all over the damn place. We started recording around 2 A.M. and finished an hour and a half later. Getting one person to talk at a time was difficult, because that’s just the way that we tend to communicate as friends, and it doesn’t carry over particularly well to the podcasting realm. At any rate, I again failed to nail the initial topic idea of change. I guess it was kind of a long shot, getting a bunch of guys to talk about their feelings and open up about the fear of the loss of friendship due to proximity, but if nothing else, you now know the infamous “pee story,” regarding Daniel and myself.

Towards the end it was clear that we were all having trouble focusing, and I had trouble making sure that we didn’t start referring to things happening in the room, for example I had to edit out 10 minutes of all of us talking about a picture of me with my luxurious hair. So if it seems like you’re getting a bit lost in the conversation near the end, you’re not alone.

With the end of the school year upon me. I realize that I will not have access to the endless fount of creative knowledge supplied by the various people living around me for the next three months. While I do have friends at home I could go and interview, they do not live next door to me and that would cause even more havoc trying to make our schedules and breaks in schedules coincide. As a result, after the next episode of Paicast, there will be at least a three month break until I can get the next episode up. Thanks for the few people who actually read this and the even fewer who might care, I appreciate your time more than you know.

Also, the podcast has achieved syndication on iTunes. Check it out here: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=370911263

Seriously though, vulgarity galore in this episode. I decided not to censor my friends in their natural habitat, and I thought the results were at least amusing, if a bit less tasteful. I hope to eventually actually cover a topic I set out to talk about in one of these things, but for now this is the best I can do.

Rejoice! For the second installment of the PAIcast is here!

People Are Interesting: Episode 2

As a preface to this episode, I feel I need to explain something. The first episode of the podcast is most definitely more entertaining than this one, and I want to apologize. I did the interview on about two hours of sleep and didn’t have near as much time to prepare to speak with Hans and Cho and did it between two different classes, so I rushed through the process. While I normally would go back and redo the interview to achieve an acceptable level of awesome, I had a realization while editing.

While this may not be the most entertaining of the interviews I’ve done, I still needed to post it, because it shows something: not everything is interesting. No really, some things are downright boring, and parts of this interview were just that. I want to figure out what is interesting and while it turns out that this interview was just not interesting, the experience of recording and editing it shows that even the most interesting of us with the most interesting lives can be made boring using specific proxies, in this case a very tired and unprepared interviewer.

As a final note, I realize that part of our discussion was particularly crude, and I want to explain something when we discussed “passing gas” and the British, that I wasn’t referring to just random Brits on the street, but British comedy, and their admirable disregard for political correctness and their realization of what Cho’s friend Gage said being a true statement.

So again, realize that Hans and Cho are very interesting people, made boring through my line of questioning.

Thus begins an epic journey of discovery in which we all learn a little bit about ourselves and the things that make us interesting. Sort of.

People Are Interesting: Episode 1

When I first had the idea to make a podcast, I wasn’t sure exactly what would be interesting to talk about, then I stumbled on the idea of what makes something interesting in the first place. The idea stuck with me, and People Are Interesting was born. Listening to the podcast will show that we only really scratch the surface of the idea of what makes something interesting, and that is mostly due to my inexperience as a show host. Keeping on track is not something I do well, but I thought that even though this first episode doesn’t do exactly what I wanted it to do, I thought it was genuinely entertaining and decided to post it as the first episode.
I realize that the original thesis of what makes something interesting isn’t covered at all, but here is where I retract that thesis, because I can, and because it means I don’t have to re-record or edit the first episode. Instead of exploring what makes someone or something interesting, we will just be having conversations about things I find interesting, or things that people comment about, and use the near infinite creativity of a large pool of people to keep it entertaining.
On that note, while this first episode features Alex, Jacob, and Connor, and it certainly will not be the last featuring them, I will be rotating out different guests to talk with me to keep things fresh.
Love or hate the podcast? Please leave a comment, I crave your feedback.
