Heart2Heart Challenges - Oh Deer!

This week Heart2Heart Challenges is focused on the Oh Deer paper pack - using the paper or the colors for your project. This paper is so beautiful with its soft wintery tones and lovely pine cone paper.

I pulled out one of my very favorite CTMH stamps, a long since retired set called To You and Yours with this beautiful cardinal image. I stamped him on one of the PML cards included with the kit and colored it in with our Shinhan Markers.

After the card was assembled, I used our Shimmer Brush to cover the stamped and colored image. I love the subtle shine this gives to projects!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Sketch Challenge!

I used some of our Swan Lake paper , the stamp from the Thinking of You Workshop Your Way and some of our lovely Black Shimmer Ribbon to create this card in a flash!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Anything BUT a Card!

This week's challenge at Heart2Heart is to make anything BUT a card! I've had the idea in my head to make a leather flower pin for quite a while and this challenge finally got me moving on it. I whipped out our Flower Market Cricut cartridge and picked a nice two layer flower for this project and slightly altered the Hibiscus cut from page 30.

I used a package of Cricut leather that I bought about a year ago and assembled on a pin backing using our Base and Bling Sticky Strips in our Going Soon area of our website. The metal flower center is long since retired but perfect for this sweet mini project.

This little project came out exactly as I had envisioned it! I think it will look great pinned to a cozy sweater or just to dress up a t-shirt like I'm wearing it here.

Heart2Heart Challenges - Non Traditional Christmas Card

This week we have a fun color challenge at Heart2Heart Challenges - create a non-traditional colored Christmas card!

This one combines Jeeper Creepers with our Whimsy Fundamentals for a pretty wild and fun Christmas card. I used the Artbooking cartridge for the ornament cut and the tag is a sliced portion of a card from Artfully Sent.

To give the focal image some pop, I used our Shimmer Brush on three of the ornaments and the other two got a layer of Liquid Glass. This one came out even better than I envisioned it would. That is the great thing about challenges - they shake you up out of your routine and get you creating in a whole new way!

Jeepers Creepers with Heart2Heart Challenges

This week at Heart2Heart Challenges we are getting into the Halloween spirit with our Jeepers Creepers paper pack! This fun an versatile paper pack can definitely be all about halloween like I've done here but many of the holiday patterns reverse to general designs full of bright fun colors.

I've had this fun Ikea frame in my craft room for a couple of years and it just happened to perfectly match our new Willow color! I used pieces of the journaling cards that come in Jeepers Creepers along with some of the papers and stamped images from our adorable Monstrous Halloween stamp set to create this fun display piece.

I added a few googly eyes because who doesn't love googly eyes? I hope you'll join us this week at Heart2Heart Challenges and break out the Halloween fun with Jeepers Creepers!

Perfect 10 - Heart2Heart Challenges

The challenge theme at Heart2Heart this week is "Perfect 10" so I decided to flip to page 10 of my Flower Market cartridge handbook and create a project with whatever images were on that page. Lucky me that ALL the pages are full of great images!

This was such a fun project to put together! I used aluminum duct tape on White Daisy cardstock for the flower vase and then attached the wreath image to the vase and changed the cut to score lines. I love the embossed metal look this creates!

The background papers come from some of our newest Fundamentals - Basic and Adventure, while the flowers were created with bits and pieces of older paper packs. The beautiful gold ribbon is from our Uptown Ribbon Pack and while you might not be able to see it in the picture, the sentiment and the white flower pieces have all been jazzed up with our Shimmer Brush!

I always enjoy projects where the focus is on bringing various patterns and colors together to create a scene. It helps me use up retired items and see retired items in a new way!

This sweet and simple card started off with one of the PML cards from the City Sidewalks paper pack. I stamped the bell using my Memento ink and then colored in with Shinhan markers adding some Shimmer Brush details after I cut the image out. Sequins add a nice accent and are flat enough to mail - one of my favorite qualities in a card these days!

Adventure Color Palette with Heart2Heart Challenges!

Today's challenge at Heart2Heart is all about ADVENTURE! Our new colors this year all come from this fun, vibrant color palette so it was an easy decision to use our Adventure Paper Fundamentals for this card!

My project is the first card I'll be sending off to my son who just started his new adventure last week - going off to college to study Marine Biology. When I saw our new Hooked On You stamp set I had to get it just so I could make him a card to celebrate.

I colored the fish in with our Watercolor Pencils and then added some of our shimmer brush. For the water, I topped my watercolor pencil with a layer of Liquid Glass that I painted on with a brush for a nice thin coat.

I wanted to keep this flat for mailing so for accents I used our Silver Foil Tape, a scattering of our Silver Sequins and a bit of our twine from our Enchantment Ribbon Pack.

Today I am showcasing the beautiful Workshop Your Way Just to Say Cardmaking Kit. This kit really stood out for me because of the trendy font they used for the sentiment stamps!

I wanted to jazz the kit up so I broke out the Confetti folder, then sanded a bit and then went over each dot with our Shimmer Brush. Our new color Raspberry color makes an awesome accent statement on this card!

I also added a bit of Shimmer Brush to the stamped heart and then topped it off with a bit of Liquid Glass for added dimension.

The thank you card was jazzed up with our Confetti Stars embossing folder and accented with our new color Blossom.

#CreateKindness - National Stamping Month and Heart2Heart Challenges!

This week at Heart2Heart we are celebrating the National Stamping Month September special called Create Kindness! This adorable kit was so much fun to work with this week!

I cut one of the mini cards in half and then did a mountain fold to make it into a pop up element on the front of the card. This will fold flat for mailing (always a consideration) but when released from the envelope will pop back out for lots of dimension.

Our new Shimmer Brush is fabulous to work with! I added some shimmer on top of the white diagonal stripes in the green fundamentals paper and also on the purple hearts. A dollop of Liquid Glass on top and they look like custom sized gems!

The little triangle gems are from our Enamel and Glitter Duos Green package - I've had them for a while and realized they completely match the new Emerald color in our Adventure Paper Fundamentals!

#CreateKindness - National Stamping Month Blog Hop!

I wanted to go a bit outside the box on this kit so I used the Create Kindess kit pieces to create a larger standard size card. I stamped in our Memento Ink and colored in with our Shinhan Markers adding a few drops of Liquid Glass to the centers of the flowers for some pop and shine.

This rick-rac style circle is from our new Flower Market cartridge! I love how it emphasizes the sentiment on the inside of the card.

The heart base is from our new Adventure Fundamentals and the pink ribbon is from the matching Adventure Ribbon pack - love how easy it is to color coordinate with these new paper suites!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Hip to be Square!

We are having a "Hip to be Square" challenge at Heart2Heart this week and I had a lot of fun putting together this card for my daughter! This features our lovely Florence paper pack and the August SOTM Purr-fect Halloween - both of these cuties are gone at the end of the month!

This one is kind of an inside joke - she sent us a hilarious story from the net that used the "what's new pussycat" song by Tom Jones. Since then its been a running joke in the family so I just couldn't resist making this one to send to her at college. I'm sure I'll get a text as soon as she opens this one up!

I used some of our new shimmer brush on the cat's eyes and then put a dollop of Liquid Glass over the top to give them dimension. If you don't recognize the doodled paper - it's from a PML card in the Florence kit that I colored in with our markers.

Heart2Heart Challenges - Boys with be Boys

This week the challenge at Heart2Heart is "boys will be boys". One of the keys for me to making a guy card is to focus on texture and simplicity. For this card, I pulled out some of our brand new Fundamental papers and had some textural fun!

I used the woodgrain paper from Rustic Home Fundamentals for the mountains as well as a small strip of the embossed woodgrain paper. I layered that with some of our All About the Gold Fundamentals (they are acetate overlays with embossed gold textures) for an extra texture boost.

The mountain is cut from our brand new Flower Market cartridge - the alphabet matched our Artristry cartridge so I created a custom cut on some Whimsy Fundamentals papers to create a longer sentiment. I love the trendy XXX is calling and I must go sayings that are popping up everywhere! I used a bit of .01 journaling pen to pop the letters on this.

This card is dedicated to my son who just finished his Freshman college registration and is now on a 6 day backpacking adventure with a group of incoming freshman. I'm sure he'll come home exhausted, dirty, stinky and happy as can be! This is his first big college adventure and I'm hoping his years at Western will be filled with many, many more!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Florence

This week at Heart2Heart we were challenged to use our gorgeous Florence paper pack. This paper is full of textures and florals in rich blues, reds and yellows. I love how the patterns in our paper packs are so easy to combine into designs as the mix is a perfect blend of bold and small prints.

I did a little bit of fussy cutting to get some flower accents from various pieces of paper in the pack.

I'll miss this beautiful paper as today starts a BRAND NEW ANNUAL IDEA BOOK! That means this cutie is gone but beautiful new papers are here for a full year!

Sightseeing with Heart2Heart Challenges

This week's challenge at Heart2Heart is a Sightseeing Challenge. I knew I wanted to play with my watercolor paints so I scrolled through my CTMH cartridges until I found the perfect card to create a night sky with splatters of white and yellow! What could be more perfect for a sightseeing challenge than a night time in Paris scene?

This sweet scene is from our Artfully Sent Cartridge, one of the three CTMH cricut cartridges that will be retiring at the end of the month. Art Philosophy, Artfully Sent and Artiste are all retiring while Artbooking and Artistry will be joined by a new cartridge!

To make the watercolor splatter effect, get your paint brush REALLY wet with watercolor and then tap the brush against your other hand. The size of the spatters are effected by the size of the brush so the bigger the brush, the bigger in dimension the splatters will be. I used a medium round brush to do these.

I used the hide contour function to make copies of the poodle and the woman plus an extra layer for her dress so I could add a bit of extra dimension to this card. Her dress is from our current Florence collection - such a pretty paper!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Magical!

This week at Heart2Heart we are getting Magical and celebrating CTMH's Magical paper collection! I wanted to show you something today that you might not be aware of - that you can use our sticker Compliments twice!

I had already used the black "Big Smiles" sticker from our Compliments collection on another project but I wanted to make a fun birthday card using the same sentiment. Our stickease always have a margin on the outer edge of the sticker that ensures your sticker is lined up nicely when they cut them but it also gives you the opportunity to use the negative cut on additional projects!

I cut the empty sticker outline from the sheet of stickease and then bubble cut around it. After carefully laying it down with all the inside pieces like the black holes in the letter e and g, I added some sparkle with my Wink of Stella pen.

I used several of the chipboard compliments and a variety of papers to make a high impact fun card.

Heart2Heart Challenges - Congratulations!

Heart2Heart Challenges is all about congratulations cards this week for celebrations of any kind. As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I would make a graduation card for my soon to graduate senior! Woot! Woot!

I used our awesome new Smarty Pants stamp set and kept this card very clean and simple with a bit of popping images and some lines of our Gold Foil tape and Black Shimmer Trim.

Proud Mom Moment: I am so excited to watch as my middle child finishes high school strong and begins preparations to head off to his first pick college this fall to study marine biology. He has been passionate about water creatures since he was a very little kid - something that hasn't changed in 18 years and I know his enthusiasm for the subject will carry him far!

Heart2Heart Challenges - Fun Folds!

Today we have a FUN Folds challenge at Heart2Heart! I created a bendy card using our tropical Calypso paper pack and our adorable C1651 Tickled Pink flamingo stamp set.

I couldn't resist adding some googly eyes to my beach loving birds and some liquid glass on the CTMH cricut cut sun shape. For the cricut cut palm tree, I used our Bronze alcohol marker to add cross hatching on the trunk for some dimension.

I had so much fun creating this beach scene card! I love that it folds flat for mailing but with the help of slots and tabs easily creates a 3-D scene. Heart2Heart Challenges - Baby Love

Heart2Heart Challenge has a "Baby Love" theme this week so I decided to turn mine into a Mother's Day card because you can't have a baby without a mom! This is the card I sent out to my Mom and MIL this year. I used some retired Balloon Ride paper mixed with some Sorbet, Colonial White and White Daisy Cardstock.

I used our CTMH cartridges to cut all the images for this shadow box card. I water colored the individual images on the bouquet and then pop dotted some of the flowers to give them dimension.

This shows how the card folds down for mailing.

The cream colored panels are embossed with our Hearts folder for a little extra love!

Here is the card all folded up and also at an angle so you can see the depth of the shadow box frame.

I hope all you Moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day this year! I drove out to get my daughter from college for the summer on Friday so I have all three of my kids under my roof again and that makes me VERY happy!

I decided to make a card featuring some of the cheery yellow flower paper in the Happy Times pack along with the sweet little girl from our new B1526 Lovely Garden stamp set. I stamped her in Memento ink and colored her in with our Shinhan markers. I love how the polka dots and stripes came out on her dress made by removing ink with our colorless blending pen.

I add a splash of sparkles for water and some shine.

May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Celebrate with Cake!

Today's card features our brand new Magical Paper Pack from our Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book! This paper is a fun nod to Disney with its bright cheery colors and patterns but also perfect for general celebration projects. I decided to make a shadow box pop up display card to focus on the awesome build-a-cake aspect of the May SOTM.

Completely open, this card will stand on its own but the magical part (see why I chose this paper - LOL) is that it folds down flat into a standard sized envelope! Here is it closing down...

...and fully closed flat and ready to slip into an envelope.

This shows the depth of the shadow box - and the cute watercolored cake! The white twine on the Glitter Paper balloons is another new product from the Seasonal Expression 2 book - its nice and thin so it ties easily with no extra bulk.

I used some CTMH cricut cuts to decorate the front of the card and added a bit of liquid glass to the sentiment to keep it stiff.

Pivot Slider Card with Zoe

I stumbled across a picture of a pivot slider card this morning (see Paula Knall's card here) and thought it was such a cute idea I had to make one today! I pulled out my Zoe paper pack and had some fun putting this new-to-me style card together. The butterfly and flowers are all cut from our Cricut carts. I used some retired Prisma glitter on the butterfly - then I remembered why I don't use it so much - it is now all over my craft area!

You can see the pivot post the butterfly is attached to - there is an a semi-circle cut out of the card front so the butterfly can swoop through the flowers!

The sentiment is a sneak peek from an upcoming set called "A Bunch of Love" that I'll link after it goes live on Monday!

Zoe is one of the packs from the annual book so it's still orderable through July. April 30th is the last day for Regatta, Penelope or Charlotte so don't delay if you want any of those! I loved them all but I'm very excited to get 3 new paper packs to show you starting on Monday!
