Magnetizing: Legion of Everblight heavy warbeast kit - part #1

Heya,

The above image is the metal one primed because I didn't have a striking image of the plastic kit to lead this post. This time my magnetizing project has a real purpose behind it. The kit consists of 3 warbeast configurations: Carnivean, Ravagore and Scythean. I'm including the new Dominion warbeast Proteus upgrade here as well.

Heya,

The painting part of my hobby has been toned down a little lately since there's so much metal I have to get ready. New additions are pGaspy for Cryx and Striders UA and Typhon (yet to be assembled) for Legion of Everblight. I also finished the assembly of Scavvy.

Yes. You read it right. I'm giving it a shot to fully (or at least partially) magnetize this latest Cryx warcaster. That mean I'm trying to apply magnets to pretty much every important bit. Let's see how it goes.

It's a really nice feeling to finally get the warpack you ordered so long ago... only to notice that the same warpack is being re-released in plastic resin. Oh well.

Dark eldar venom: weathered and finished

Heya,

I managed to finish up the details, weathering and varnishing of them venoms.

For the scratched paint and sponged on the edge highlight color (VMC Orange red) and some VGC Stonewall gray. The exhaust openings and the engine tips I airbrushed with some black to give it a dirtier and oilier look.

Malifaux and terraclips terrain

Heya,

As promised here are the photos of the gaming session. Not much since I got too exited playing :)

We had to build it first though. If you're making it first time, I assure you it's going to take time.
Here we used all the three Terraclips boxes: streets, sewers and buildings. Took us 2.5 hours to finish. I bet the next time will go a bit faster. Reminder: If you're planning on getting these, get 1 pack of connectors per one box. You really need them.

Dark eldar venom: Painting part #2

Heya,

Continuing with them venoms. It was time for the brush work next.

First up: the panel lines. Here I tried oil colors for the first time. With a gloss varnish on the models applying a really thinned down black oil color is a really effective way to make panel lines. The color just draws right
into the crevices. I think it's called the capillary effect in English(correct me with the spelling if I'm wrong here).

Heya,

So, gotta put some paint on the three venoms. I'm assembling them once I'm done painting all the different parts so that it's easier for me to use the airbrush.

First is the priming. Hull and the canopy glass got Vallejo grey primer and the jet engines, gun and parts that are generally metal I primed in Vallejo black.

Quick update on the Cryx Necrosurgeon. It's been sitting on the desk for quite some time now... I think it's almost done. Few touch ups here and there and the base and it should be ready.

Hopefully I can squeeze in the pistol wraith and the stitch thralls so I can clear room for my upcoming Dark eldar painting project.

Bane thralls: assembling

Heya,

Just a quick bane thralls photo dump. I really need to start assembling my models as they won't do much sitting in a box.

These were a real pain to put together. Drilling, pinning, gluing, green stuff... you name it, I used it. Especially Tartarus. I just wish it'll hold together. I also magnetized the standard bearer UA. It's much easier to transport that way.

Good and bad news

Heya,

News flash!

The good: I'm getting back the drive for the hobby again.

The bad: I've had constant back pain for the past couple of months now and that prevents me from sitting longer periods of time at one place. That sucks for modelling and painting wise, since I can only start to do something and immediately take a break from it.

Hopefully the docs can figure out the cause and find a cure for this. In the meantime I'm still not able to do anything hobby related stuff :(

Just to let you know that I'm alive :)

I've been suffering from a lack of inspiration for hobby related stuff and at the same time World of Tanks and Dark Souls have been eating my free time.

I think I'll be recharged for more painting and modeling soonish.

Heya,

For some reason I just couldn't decide the color scheme I wanted to go for. In the end I just picked the blue for the pants and started painting. Let's see how he turns out. As usual, the paints are pretty well thinned to have a good flow. I use a flow aid and (distilled) water mix in 1:10 ratio.

Necrosurgeon and stitch thralls WIP update

Heya,

Here's what I managed to do with the necrosurgeon and her gang.

The thralls didn't get much paint on. With the one standing on the bag, I just deepened the shadows a bit to make them stand out more. I just used GW badab black wash carefully applied to the crevices. The others got some shading done on them. I used GW rotting flesh thinned with flow aid and water mix and Vallejo glaze medium. I went over the spots that would receive more light a few times.

Just thought I'd post mine. I got a really good space in the cellar to which I moved to after my son was born and my hobby room was given to him. I still need to work on the shelves and the layout. Currently the paints are in a container on the floor which is no way an ideal place.
