A man practicing a lethal skill and practicing it with kids will never be equal to another man who practiced the same skill with skilled opponents.
Have you ever heard:
The only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent
—Fundamentals of Chess 1883
And this short line says more than what we need to learn maybe.
Students are usually afraid to compete or even practice with seniors or experienced people. Right enough, they should be afraid, but fear shouldn’t stop them
Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the ability to keep moving despite having that feeling.
- Nabeel
So if you wanna get better, practice and compete with better opponents. Don’t chose the junior ones just to satisfy your ego that you “won” apparently.
]]>Chose to lose from a skilled person, it’s worth it.

Michael Philips wasn’t born a swimmer even, let alone being champion in Olympics
Was Bruce Lee born with a letter in his hand saying that he will be a legend?
Did Jackie Chan know he will be respected and honored so much when he worked as a stunt man for bruce lee’s films
No one told Masaki Hatsumi when he was a kid that he would be considered an authority in Ninjutsu
Muhammad Ali Clay wasn’t aware that of what he was capable of when he was young. At least not when the thugs robbed his bike when he was 12.
Sammy Wanjiru fell hundreds of times when he was a kid, while learning how to walk, long before he won marathon in Olympics.
When Michael Schumacher started driving, he wasn’t told that he will win 5 consecutive championships with ferrari.
For a while, sit alone to ponder, what if you could . . . ?
What if you could win a gymnastics championship
what if you could swim better than michael philips
what if you could punch like Muhammad Ali
what if you had the ability to … what if you really could be a Legend
Afraid of that back flip? what if you could? what if you could do 20 in a row with some practice too?
Scared of getting punched in the face, what if you could beat everyone at the finest championships ?
Just for a while, sit, sit alone, and don’t just imagine, but BELIEVE, what if You Could . . . ?
Just for a second, sit, sit really alone and don’t just ask yourself, but Tell, what if I Can . . . ?

Now you can register for summer martial arts training session online. Submit the registration form with the info and we will get back to you asap!
Currently the Class is scheduled for F-11/1, Islamabad, Pakistan branch by the mid of July 2011, but upon getting more registrations from other cities classes will be arranged there too!
Note: Information submitted through the registration form is completely private and not shared to any third party.
15 years later, someone asks him, how long you have been practicing martial arts?
His answer was: 15 years!
Was it really? Is the time when you begin practicing something is the time to start measuring? To be honest, for me answer is neither YES nor NO. Here’s why:
If Mr. A trains for 10 years, 1 hours a day, 3 times a week. It simply means he trained almost 4 years, 1 hour a day, 7 days a week. Or if we consider 3 hour to be minimum time for training per day, then he just did almost 1.5 years of training, everyday , for 3 hours.
Now lets come to the other point, does it mean a person Mr. B practicing same skills and art under same teacher for 1.5 years everyday for 3 hours a day will be equal to the Mr. A ? I don’t think so!
There are always few things which come with time. They are just “matured” not practiced. But still, the topic is debatable, and as i said earlier, i truly don’t have any Yes or No answer to it! What’s your view?

Ever since I have been into martial arts (of any form) I have been listening people say that Martial arts is useless in real fight situations or on the streets.
Well, sure enough, lets have a look at it and see why people think like that, or more accurately, if it is useless, then why is that so?
What is Martial Art:
First question to ask is, what really is martial arts? Well martial arts is art of war. And a warrior don’t go about killing and beating people in the street. So keep this thing in mind first, if a martial artist don’t break bones in street fight, it don’t mean what he learnt was useless, it simply means he knows how to control his skills.
But here comes the part, what if in a street fight, against the evils, he gets his own bones broken? well then, probably what he learnt was just a game, not an art or he was very junior in it.
Not trained for streets:
Most so called martial arts clubs are training for “ring” fights, a sport. Which is a total controlled environment.
When a game points base trained athlete goes in a real street fight, he obviously can’t handle that situation. Why can’t he? well that’s a different discussion which I will be posting soon. So thing is, a martial artist should be trained for real fights too, which is a complete art in itself.
Fear … of damaging others
Believe it or not, most martial artist fear damaging the opponent more than getting hurt themselves. Not only in streets, but in ring too. Please note, here i said they just fear that they might damage the opponent. It doesn’t necessarily mean that what they might be thinking is right too. Maybe their most powerful kick can’t even move the opponent. So the student should be trained on removing the fear of hitting the opponent too, whenever needed.
Training for streets is additional training to the ring one. So it should be given proper time too!

The general term referred to power while striking with a kick or punch in martial arts is “power” which actually refers to “impulse” in physics terms.
Impulse can be defined in many ways, including: “change in momentum”. Now comes the part what is momentum?
Well, lets cut all this out and keep it to the simple word (but we will refer it to impulse throughout this post)
The formula is:
I = F Δt
(Impulse = Force x Time for which this force was applied )
It can also be referred as:
I = m Δv
(Impulse = mass x change in velocity / speed by that force in that time )
So now lets analyze these.
First one explains that the impulse depends on force applied and for how long it was applied. If you can keep same amount of force applied for longer time, it will cause greater impulse. Which means:
when hitting a target, don’t stop hitting as soon as your palm or foot touches the target, keep applying the force as long as you can, going deep into the target.
Second one says, that impulse depends on the mass of the force applier (arm or leg) and what was it’s velocity / speed. Which means 2 things. 1. improve your muscles, so that there is more muscle mass in the region. Secondly:
Faster you hit, higher is the impulse
We can conclude this with these 3 requirements to improve your impulse / power of hitting a punch or a kick:
Although there are many more details to it, I will be trying to elaborate them in further posts.
Are you practicing and training for these three things atleast? If not then get regular now, join martial arts classes now.
