After the pandemic hit and we were so housebound; I did lots of portraits and Jim worked on a Christmas CD. It has 8 of his xmas arrangements. Of course he asked me to come up with a cover. I thought something done in ink with a bright watercolor splash over the top would be neat. Tried several Riverwalk scenes but too busy. Besides, he wanted to name the CD "A Tranquil Christmas". So I remembered a painting i had done of a little snow covered tree from our trip to Snowmass, Colorado. Did this simple ink sketch of the tree and added a red bow. Perfect.

Marie 24"x30 original oil

Painted this one to celebrate my mother's life . She is 102 and still here. I gathered together alot of things that symbolized her loves and interests. The background shawl was the one she wore for her first piano recital at age 15. The orange belt is one she made herself with wool yarn embroidered on cloth. The jewelry is hers and the passports symbolize her many travels as an army wife. So much love put into every paint stroke.

Fiesta! 24"x36" original oil with gallery wrapped canvas. Image extended on all sides $575

This painting is especially ironic since Fiesta is being cancelled this year because of pandemic. It celebrates the fun we have eating and drinking and throwing confetti filled eggs at each other.

Group of portraits I did after the pandemic hit. Made great Christmas gifts. Had trouble focusing so had my eyes checked. No glaucoma which my sister had. And no macular degeneration like my mother. However my left eye is developing what they call an epi-retinal membrane. Its a collection of cells that over time make the retina un even or rough. This causes spots of blurriness. Will see retinal specialist in February.

I had painted a similar subject that my neice loved and purchased. Her sister loved it and so I did this one for her and we gave it to her for her birthday. Both paintings were inspired by a trip Jim and I took to Hawaii to visit my son and daughter in law while they were stationed on Oahu.

Usually I do a painting and then I go hunting for a frame that suits it. But I have a few good frames around that just needed a painting so took an opposite approach and searched for a subject that would suit the frame. I think this one is a good pairing.

Dancer 12'x16' gallery wrapped canvas $225.00

2017-09-16T09:15:00.002-07:00

trying something a little different. Am placing my subject matter (the dancer) in an abstract setting. I think the dark area that acts as a shadow reference, gives enough spatial reference. Now I need to decide if the left arm needs to have more showing. The photo does not show the arm,but have had some people say it is a little bothersome not to show it. Hmmm.
