Now you have a domain name, next we will need a hosting.
A webhosting for our domain where we will put the files for the domain to create a website.
A blog.

In this chapter, we will shop for webhosting, so get ready your money!

A webhosting is a service provided by a web server provider to host your website on their server.

How webserver works.

There are many various webhosting company that you can choose from the internet.

But for your own comfort, please find a webhosting with these criteria.

• Run php. At least php5.
• It have mySQL database.
• SSI enable. (Server Side Includes)
• It have cPanel X as manager.
• FTP access of course.
• Can add more than 1 domain. (Domain addon)
• Should give unlimited subdomain for your domain. Or 99, you never use it to that thought… Unless you are spammers.
  But it good to have some plenty to use.
• Have a good support.
• Give hosting space more than 1Gb for reasonable price. (Below RM100.)

cPanel

The above image is the screenshot of my cPanel.  As you see, my hosting is almost 10Gb, that is big eh? I don’t even use up to 1Gb.

While most of other blogger choose to be with more expensive webhosting, I go with SealServer.
Cheap webhosting with big space, 10Gb for RM100.00 (±USD$30.00) annually.
Plus almost 24/7 support via Yahoo Messenger.
Wow, what else can I say!

But there are also other hosting that I use.
This blog for example is hosted at Namsahaz.
If you see my blog is not online, you know whos fault it is.

Other webhosting service that I use is Rawanaz.
They are much more cheaper than SealServer, and offer big hosting space too.
But, the stability is not very pleasant.
I have 11Gb webhosting there with only RM100.00.
At the first appearance, they also offer support via YM.
But recently they are very not responsive through YM, I guess because they have install the online support at their main website recently.
But they are a good hosting company all this while.
And I’m sure you will amazed by how cheap they are.
I mean their pricing…

Just remember when you buy a webhosting service.

You get what you paid for.

Make The Purchase

You can use my the same hosting with me or you can search Google for more other webhosting company.

But for Malaysian, I advise you to take local hosting company so the it is easy when it’s come to payment and support.

So, you can either choose;

3. Namsahaz ==> http://www.namsahaz.com/pages/features

Point Your Domain Name To The Webhosting

After you make purchase and verify your payment, please ask the webhosting support for dns or also called name server.
They look like these.

• dns1.sealserver.net
• dns2.sealserver.net

for sealserver,

Or

• ns1.rawanaz.com
• ns2.rawanaz.com

for rawanaz.

However, its not all webhosting use their own domain as a nameserver.

For example, namsahaz is using these,

• ns1.zelzem.com
• ns2.zelzem.com

Please verify the name server with your choosen webhosting.

After this, you need to login to your namecheap account and follow the steps below.

Login to namecheap. ==> Your Domains ==> Click the domain name. ==> Domain Name Server Setup/Transfer To Webhost ==> Fill in the name server in the box. ==> Click Save.

We are done! Congratulation!

After this, you will need your hosting provider to setup your account, and you will aslo need to wait for at most 48 hour for your domain to propagate on all servers around the world.

Next, we will get to know about the most blogging platform. WordPress.

Now you already have a brief introduction about what is blog, what is debit card and why we should have it, what is paypal and how you make an account there.

Now let’s go to the next step in your blogging world.

Buy a domain name.

There is a lot of other places for you to buy a domain name, but I am strongly recomending namecheap.

This is the best domain retailer so far.  It might not be the cheapest but yet cheap!

You can buy a .com domain for as cheap as $8.81 here at namecheap, but there’s a trick on how to get that price.

First thing first, let’s choose your domain name.

You can use your own name for your domain name like my blog.
My name is Pangeran and I’m choosing to have a pangeran.com, but it is not available and I have no choice but to take PANGERAN.ORG as my domain if I still want to use pangeran as my domain.

You can always choose a domain describing what you do, what topic you post on your blog too.
For example, you blog about basketball, then you can get a domain name like basketball.com, but I’m sure that domain name is not available anymore because good domain name always not available if we don’t get them  earlier.

This is a list I use to choose a domain name.

• As short as possible.
• Don’t exceed threewords.
• Pass phone conversation, meaning your domain name is easy to say.
• If possible just one words.
• Make sense.

Choose Your Domain

To start searching for available domain name, use the form like above at namecheap homepage.

If your choosen domain name is available, you can click the Add to cart button, if no, then try to search for other domain.

After you click Add to cart button, the price will show $9.69 per domain.  Now, don’t click checkout yet.
Go to your webbrowser and go to http://www.namecheapcoupon.com and pick up the latest discount coupon.
Copy the discount code and paste in the coupon area, and click submit.  Now the price will discounted to only $8.81.
After this, you can click Proceed to Standard Checkout and complete the transaction.

But before all of that, if you plan to buy a domain name, you should transfer some of your money to namecheap from paypal.  If you don’t have any funds in your paypal, make sure your credit/debit card balance is suffiencient before transfering fund to namecheap via paypal using your credit/debit card.

Add Fund To Your NameCheap Account

First you need to create a namecheap account.  After that you need to login and click Add Fund.  After that a new page appear, choose add fund from paypal and put the amount of money more than $5.  I suggested you put $8.81 so the fund will cover the domain cost.  After that, you will be redirected to paypal website.  Click Pay Now and your credit/debit card will be deducted.  For Malaysian, it is advised to have atleast RM50.00 in your debit/credit card.

Paypal is a payment processor for transaction online.  It is not a bank.  It is the most popular payment processor used world wide for example in the biggest auction site on internet, ebay.

While becoming the most popular, it is a heavy responsible for paypal to make their site as secure as possible.
But be as secure as possible means, they will become very fussy, and this turns off many people.  Especially seller, or merchant.  But they don’t have a choice, but to use what their customer want to pay with.

Yes, paypal buyer’s protection policy is very high to standard.
We can just open a dispute and chargeback our money if we find that the seller is dishonest.
But this system also have it cons.

Nowadays, the scammers are among the buyers.
They dispute even they have the item.
And the seller who don’t have tracking number with them are easily cheated, scammed, and paypal are behind these scam artist because the seller don’t have prove that the item have arrive at the buyer’s place.

But, we can overcome that problems by following the standard like providing tracking number, etc.

Create Paypal Account

It is easy to create a paypal account.

Just type, http://www.paypal.com on your web browser and click go. Or click the image above to bring you there.  On the homepage, you should see a sign up button easily visible to your eyes.  Complete the form and use your credit/debit card to verify your identity.

Before you can fully use your paypal account, you have to wait for the 4 digits expuse number from paypal to appear at your credit/debit card statement.

To check for this 4 digits expuse number, just see your monthly printed statement or checked using your online banking facility provided by your card provider.

After you verify the 4 digits expuse number, you are freely to recieve or sending money(shopping) in the internet.

But there’s one problem with Malaysian paypal account holder, we can’t add funds from our credit/debit card to our paypal account.  But a problem, there always a solution for this.  You can ask for someone who doesn’t need their paypal fund to transfer it to your account and you can compensate him/her in MYR instead.

A debit card functions are almost similar with a credit cards.  We can use them for shopping at the shopping mall or even shopping on the internet from the comfort of our home or office.

The differences are, we must deposit an amount of money inside our debit card account before we can start spending it, meaning, we pay first and spend it later.  While credit card, we spend first and pay later.  We can use the credit card anyhow we want but not exeeding the credit limit that have been setup for us.  At the end of the month, we will get monthly statement and bill to pay.  Beside that, applying for a debit card is much more easier than a credit card.  For example, Public Bank Berhad allow individuals above 12 years old to apply a debit card under their own name without any hassle.  While for credit card, we must 18 above and have a good credit score with income at least RM 1,500.00 per month which is NOT possible for a 12 years old to have it under their own name.

As an internet marketeer, we should, and we MUST have paypal account for recieving and sending money.  To create paypal account, we need a credit card or a debit card to verify our identity.  Paypal is an almost secure payment processor and the most popular too.  So we have no choice but follow the popurarity for our convenient.

The truth is there are still so many bloggers with good content do not take email subscription as an important element in their blog.

For the bloggers, what you can do now is go to Feedburner, burn your feed and start your email subscription service!

While for readers?  It is not very polite to “order” the blogmaster to do so unless they are close to you.  Worst, they ignore your good suggestion.

So, this is how we can do to get email subscription for ourself.

First, go to feedburner.  But Google have accuired feedburner so, we go directly to google feedburner from the link below.

After that, put the blog url in a form just like below.

After that finish the wizard and then click the Publicize tab, after that click on Email Subscriptions.

After you activate the service, a new page will appear.  Find the text area just like in the image above.

Copy the link inside the href="link-here" and paste it on your browser.

Fill in your email, and fill the capthca.

After that you will recieve a confirmation email, click on the confirmation link and you will enjoy the latest update from your favourite blog from now on!

p/s: This will not work for website that don’t have feed.

I am using the code below to grab the value of the assigned custom key.

The upgrading process run smoothly and then it run the update database wizard and all done.

The user interface do not change… a lot…
It still like WordPress 2.7 interface.
But in Wordpress 2.8, we can decide how many columns we want the widget in our dashboard.

In WordPress 2.8, there are Theme browser, something that functioning like plugin browser that was introduced in WordPress 2.7, just, this is for themes instead for plugins.

Other function, I am not yet find out…

WordPress 2.8 claims that they are faster than WordPress 2.7 because the scripting and styling were re-engineered so it becomes light.

This urge come after I realized how ugly the existing design of this blog.
So I decide to make one new theme that is beautiful.

Sadly I am very bad when it is about creativity.  :(
I am a bad graphic designer.
Someone without creativity is hardly creating a beautiful master piece!

So, to no shame, I browse the internet for inspiration to create my new wordpress theme for PANGERAN.ORG.

Top Browser

You can click the image above to enlarge it.  The image above show statistic data I get from Google analytics on PANGERAN.ORG.

The top ranking browser use by visitors to my website is Firefox!  With more than 64% users.
It followed by Internet Explorer, but just contributing to around 18% only.
Third place is Google Chrome, my favourite browser because it is so light and fast!

By checking my other websites, I found out that that they have similar browser ranking!

Meaning?

Firefox have won the “Battle of The Browser” so far…

This blogsite will generally discuss about best games of all time.  From the creation of fix screen game watch, to gameboy, then nds, psp, and now we even can play games on our mobile phone!  Not forgeting iphone and ipod touch.

The blogsite is just so new that it still using the default wordpress theme with only one welcome post.

The domain games8mobile.com bring the meaning of Games at mobile.  Games on your mobile handheld device.

I use the number 8 because it is much more easier to remember, and because we cannot have @ in a domain name.

Beside that, the number 8 also represent good luck.

There are so many ways how to make money online, but the main principal is still the same.

Try To Sell Something To Other People

When you do affiliate marketing, indirectly you are trying to sell something to other people.  The diffrent is you don’t keep stock.  And you don’t handle the transaction.

After trying many online business model, I’ve decided to get more focus on selling physical thing online and also monetizing my website through advertising.

This two model is more than enough to bring you money.  There are other people making thousands of dollars per month, it’s fine with me.  But it seems its not the “real busines”.

I want to feel the excitement selling physical stuff online.
Accept payment, and post it to buyer.

Now, I’m doing some research to build my own online webstore using wordpress.

 There are two wordpress plugin that I want to try.
