I was invited to Bryan Tan's birthday bash by fellow make up artists from Backstage Academy. It was great night, spending our time at Spanish bar (most of our first time). The ambience, crowd and settings are satisfying. Not to mention, the food too! Definitely a great getaway with vastly available liquors (for alcohol lovers). After Estilo, we continued our hangout at Bryan's resident nearby. I could say we spend the whole night just getting together. Nothing beats that homely atmosphere ^_^

I remember how I always introduce myself as a newcomer or to newcomers, "I'm a Sarawakien from Sabah." People always take few seconds to react to that. 70% of my life happenings circulate Sabah though middle part of my identification card number is "13". It is my home, a plentiful land, full of talents & undiscovered beauty.

I remember, we used to take a period of time to know things about someone. With availability of internet access, and numerous social media platforms, you can just dip into freshest bit of that someone you have yet to know in the slightest seconds. People like Jinnyboy TV, GRIM FILM, DanKhoo Productions, Joseph Germani , ... are no strangers to local youtube & filmatography scene.

Trend evolves, passion leads on. Film production in Sabah is growing ... These people are just plain inspiring! :) How can I not share about them?

In aim to share Inspiring Stories from Passionate People, INit believes everyone has passion in something, great work is the result of that passion. AND Sabah is full of passionate people doing awesome work. These are the people who are really good at what they do because they love doing it. They never stop pushing their limits regardless of where they are or the challenges they face. These are the ones who showed nothing is impossible.

One of the recent project by INit, Film Camp 2013, a workshop to raise the local filming standard by focusing specially on budding filmmakers in Kota Kinabalu. Learn on the job by teaming with other filmmakers to pitch, shoot and produce a 5 minute documentary whilst sharing their skills and experience.
Organized by Sabah Computer Society (SCS) and Film Production Of Sabah (FPS) and supported by Sabah Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology (KPSKTM).

All the groups played their cards very well, showing off their technical skills telling captivating stories. I always believe a conveyed message, is a successful video regardless of its genre. I'm not over-rating these people, I believe there is always room for improvement. These efforts, the videos, is really a great way to kick-start film production industry in Sabah!

Valentine's Day at Big Mugz Bar & Bistro

The initial plan was to chillax at Roof Garden Lounge on this very day enjoying Tawau's scenic view. I was pretty eager because I've never been to the newly opened Roof Garden. Not to my surprise, the place is fully booked though we called few day earlier to make a reservation. Our last resort to just chill & stay at Big Mugz Bar & Bistro.

Basically, if you stay in Tawau or you are to know Tawaurians' culture, 'yum-cha' 饮茶(Cantonese) is the MAIN or the BIG THING here. So, Big Mugz is just another place for you to chillax, a place with more crowd, serve alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, better ambience, a place where 'night-lives' come to. Not to miss, a place with finger food, Italian food, loud music, & almost Whole of Tawau would come here on Wed/Fri/Sat nights.

I still rmbr there wasn't roof & those lighting set up.

Decided to just chill with people I feel comfortable with: Lisa, Eni, Eni's husband, Shan Yie. It was my 1st time meeting Eni & her husband. They're very friendly people. You know how Tawau people are friendly :D I met Mumu Ngui & his gf, Kym too! Just didn't approach to take a pic coz I don't wanna spoil their Valentine Night x)

Overall, I think its a cool place to chill-out. You can't find another kind of place like this in Tawau unless you like Roof Garden Lounge. This place reminds me a lot of Upperstar in Kota Kinabalu. Food wise is not too over the top, I'm not all that picky coming to food. Beverages wise, I think most of them are quite diluted (alcoholic/ non-alcoholic).

Liber8 Launch

I was invited to attend Liber8 Launch in Zouk KL. I tagged along Lisa & Mary to this event & we were late because of the traffic & rain. By the time we arrived, Busco already started to perform.

Let me take you back to the background of what this 'Liber8 thing' is about.
Project Liber8 is an anti-human trafficking awareness campaign. This Liber8 Launch is a red carpet launch party where local celebrities were invited as a joint movement to support the aim of the formation of Project Liber8. The idea behind Project Liber8 is by a group of teenagers from Purple Cow (Malaysian based, NGO). Liber8 aims to raise social awareness on the global issue of human trafficking.

Overall, I thought the night was for a good cause. It was a good experience getting to see local famous faces & I even spotted local famous youtubers supporting this event, chilling at a corner mesmerised by the guest performances. It was a good experience, also my 1st trip to Zouk, KL too! Only one drawback, we tried re-entering Zouk after the event ends, but we were asked to wait outside instead. We waited and waited until the clock strikes 1am and the rest of the customers went in, and we were the only one left outside .. They still wouldn't allow us to enter. So we gave up & head for supper nearby.

Blog Series #4: Unplugged 2012

Bout a month ago, I was invited to the event "Unplugged 2012" by a friend on 13 Sept 2012. The promo & ads on facebook seems promising & exciting. Arrived late without any expectations at all. I thought its going to be a simple campus kind of event. Little did I know, I'm already blown away when I arrived, witnessing few groups rehearsing outside.

Then, I joined our troop at the corner, I couldn't believe the number of crowds turned up! I felt like "sardine in a can". So you can basically imagine how the crowd filled up the space!

Here's a brief list of performance: Open Mic Session (9pm-10pm) from campus students at PJ area, highlights of the events are performances from "Christian Palencia" (upcoming local singer/songwriter), "Alabasters" from Acts (heard their awesome! rehearse), "Esther Chin" (multi-language singing sensation), "Jonathan Lee" (uprising local magician), "Eugene Yeo" (on violin performance).


This is Christian Palencia. I seriously didn't know how famous he is and I didn't know who he is before this. But once he opened his mouth and started singing, I was .... yeah speechless. AND!, EVERYONE was cheering, shouting before, during after his performance! hahaha Well, good to know he's from Sabah too! Sabahan rocks :D Awesome song pieces ;) I should've go in front and said "Hi!" ;)


This is Alabaster. House's favourite. Heard them practising when I just arrived outside, they're goooooooddd. They're REALLY good. I saw quite a number of audiences stopped doing anything else, started standing up and listen to them attentively. I super like their Maroon 5 compilations! I love how Danie a.k.a "Justin Bieber" warming things up throwing questions to the audiences. I envisage a bright future ahead in music industry :) Totally stole the show with people looking at each other, nodding their heads, clapping, and moving to da' beats!

Introducing, Eugene Yeo! Very intense play I must praise. Pure talent!

And here's Jonathan Lee, the magician who went on " The Breakfast Show" on ntv7. I've always been an avid follower of David Blaine and I've always want to witness a magic done before my eyes. I get to see how "magic" really is before my eyes at this event. Eye-opener indeed! Well, Jon gave the audience a very friendly & warm feeling. He cracked few jokes to make things less formal. The last "Untying the Rope" stole everyone's curiosity & attention :)

Overall, I had a great time here, I'm thoroughly amazed with the talents of the night. All of them are sooooo good! Few of my favourites but I couldn't remember their names. I hope to be there for their next one and kudos to the committee & friendly people behind this. Great show! *thumbs up to the performancers and performances*

While I was reading my daily email from ymiblogging, today's issue is about peace. I find it very relative to myself as I cracked up whenever I see my cohort's common mail came in with a new updated time table. I blame on myself that my life and time management has been off track. I recalled episode of myself posting status of how "Procrastination leads to stress eventually." True enough, I'm flooded by tremendous stress now for how incompetence I am of handling stress and what not.

The words that caught me reading again & again
"Sometimes I feel like a quaking aspen. People around me seem to be moving through life without issues or concerns, apparently steady and secure, while even the slightest issue can unsettle my heart. I see others and marvel at their calm and wonder why my own life can so easily be filled with turbulence."

Paul wrote, "Now, may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all" (2 Thess. 3:16). The Lord doesn't just offer peace but He himself is the Lord of peace.

When we enter the disturbing, unsettling seasons of life, it is good to know that real peace is available in the God of all peace.

2 months ago, I was approached by Shermaine Chia, the Founder & Director of Hangers indicating her Webstore based in Melbourne, Australia. I recently just got stuff sorted and had the time to go venturing at the official website! I decided to include Hangers inside of my blog series because I find this website so inspiring, how things were put together since 2008 and after 4 years they're still going on and better.

I believe the selection of apparel collection depicts One's style a lot. I'm not much a fashion go-er but I do go on lookbook.nu, stylescrapbook.com, kinkybluefairy.net, ... On & Off. I believe apparels which depict One's attitude and charisma is the most important essence of a style or #OOTD. From the available women wear on Hangers, I see uniqueness, high quality fabrics, premium high-street fabric details, comfortable basic colours as well as vibrant colours suit for events and spicing up with you own thoughts! When I was viewing the "About Us" part, the last sentence caught my attention "HANGERS also aspires to be environmentally conscious throughout its processes and products." This is a must compliment for me. I'm all-out for anything that is beneficial for our Mother Nature!

I love the fact that they emphasize a lot on quality with mission to establish Individuality, Uniqueness, and Confidence. I love how they aspire not just Present but Future. The facelift for the webstore is great. I hope I can find this sort of premium, high-street webstore in Malaysia :)

KONY 2012 (what is it about?)

After Red Hong, then Jeremy Lin (Linsanity), and now KONY 2012 is going viral too? What is KONY 2012? This struck my mind after it appears on facebook's news feed. Of course, curiosity led me to dig in more & I actually googled it to find out.

About KONY 2012
It is an operation / campaign to get Joseph Kony, an Ugandan guerrilla group leader and head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), to be arrested before the end of 2012. This operation involves viral spread of information about KONY and his war and humanity crimes to gain enough support from the American Government for ambassadors to visit Uganda with the assistance of Ugandan military to capture Kony.

History of KONY
Kony's leadership of LRA is derived from North Uganda's people (also known as Acholi People) mistreatment during Great Britain's colonization in the 19th century. Consequently, Ugandan people's woes were directed at the Ugandan Government.

1st major resistance group was created by Acholi sprit-medium named Alice Auma in 1988, named the Holy Spirit Movement, a rebel group which claimed to be under the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit, that enable Auma to rebel against the government. Following Kony's dropout form high school, he started his own rebel group, the United Holy Salvation Army, inspired by Auma's group and eventually renamed it to LRA.

Kony preached a similar message to Auma's to win support from the Acholi people even blindly claiming that he and Auma were related and as religious as she was. However Auma kept a distance from Kony as she did not cultivate the techniques used by LRA, e.g: killing civilians or prisoners of war. As Auma's military was defetead, Kony uses the belief that he was following Auma's footstep to recruit former soldiers of Holy Spirit movement to LRA.

Kony is now the head of LRA, another resistance group that preaches a hybrid of Christianity and Acholi beliefs. Over its 25 year existance, it has become increasingly off-track regarding political goals with many believing Kony continues the charade of war against the government to stay in power. the group is reported as attacking, killing and enslaving unarmed Acholis of its own tribe, including women and children. They turned the females into sex slaves and the males into child soldiers forcing them to mutilate human bodies and kill their own parents (in some cases).

Approximately 66 000 children have been abducted by Kony's involvement with his various rebellion groups - mainly LRA and has caused over 2 million people in Uganda to move out to avoid kidnapping.

Kony was indicted by the International Criminal Court for his war crimes but has avoided capture since.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC
In spring 2003, 3 filmmakers: Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey and Laren Poole traveled to Africa to document the genocide that was occurring in Darfur. Instead, they learned about the war against the government and the actions and effects of the rebel group. They formed Invisible Children Inc, a non-profit organisation in 2004 to bring attention to Kony and LRA not to celebrate but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice. They've helped Africa in building an alert system for resistance groups and assisted in educating the people in Africa.

On 5th March 2012, Invisible Children Inc uploaded a 30 minute video to Youtube named Kony 2012 detailing their cause, Kony's history, Kony 2012 operation and how viewers (YOU & i) could support this cause by spreading the video, info, donation. Goal = 500 000 video shares.The vid is directed and narrated by Jason Russell and features clips of his time spent in Africa.
This video has gathered over half a million views in 2 days, and over 200 000 likes, and 200000 favourites.

Jason also explains a plan to target 20 culture makers who have massive impact of today's culture including celebrities, athletes and billionaires) and 12 political figures that have the abilty to support the plan. They intend to have them speak out against Kony and make him known to the population who are uninformed about him.

Near the ending of the video, they explained the climax of their plan named "Cover the Night" that'll take place on 20th of April. It will start spreading various Kony 2012 media in major cities from sundown to sunrise of that night to help create awareness.

As I was browsing via my twitter this afternoon (08 March 2012), I saw Ryan Higa, youtube v-logger posted his thoughts. Of course there are many people out there who are either against or seconding. So you pick your own stand. Even culture-maker like Choi Siwon from Super Junior is asking people to pledge for it.
So what you think? In my mind: this event is going HUGE! More and more people are noticing with the usage of media, culture-makers and social networkings. Way to go! :) Let's hope for better =D

A Night of Festive Culture

I know I know.
I'm wayyyyyyyyyyy behind the date of posting this.
Really sorry for that.

So this Event is held in conjunction with Dean's List Award 2011 on
8pm 14 Dec' 2011
at Mahsa University College (Jalan University Campus) Auditorium.
And basically, the dress code is 'reminiscing in Ethnic, Cultural beauty.'

Christy, Hilda, & I were invited as the blogger of the night. Thanks a lot for the invitation, Christy and the organisers. Of course, we tried our best to fit into the 'dress code'. =D

So I get to go earlier. Managed to see familiar faces there.. Those faces who greeted me warmth-ly when I just settled down here. The smiles from the bunch of pals in Environmental Health course =D Initially only get to know few of them but owing to similar background, most of them are from East, we's hanging around just fine.

There are lots of things that I love about this event. 1st is the detailed decoration. I don't really get to see these sort of decoration. Reminds me of old school days where I used to study in a government(malay) school.

Light appetizer for the event is "Silat". Its a collective word for indigenous martial arts of Indonesian Archipelago and Malay Peninsula of Southeast ASIA. It's basically a form of Martial Art, where the one who practices this depict the "Art of Fighting". In a way, we can say that they're fighting in a graceful manner as it is very much appreciated as a form of art. Not many youngster can inherit/learn this these days. I'm glad that I'm able to witness it though I can't really understand the art of it but it's something that is priceless.

Next is of course, the opening speeches and the official launching of the event. Thumbs up to the graphic designer of the current event. I love the settings of the brochure, ticket, pass, background, theme, presentation. I love how they put in the vintage, grunge, floral, retro, old-school essences. Everything fits in nicely. A job well done to y'all..

One of the important part of the event, Dean list's Award. It's just overwhelming to see happy faces receiving certificate from happy face as well =) Seriously, the queue is quite long! I guess nothing is happier than receiving prizes especially when it's out of your own 'blood & sweat' hah!

Next thing I love about this event is the array of numerous performances. I was fed with eye-candies throughout the night with beautiful performances.
1st up to give a core eye-opening is Indian dance.
They performed "Kollattam" or the stick dance. It is one of the most popular dances of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Kolattam is derived from Kol (a small stick) and Attam (play). It is also called as Kolannalu or Kolkolannalu. Kolattam dance is a combination of rhythmic movements, songs and music and is performed during local village festivals. This dance is known by different names in different states of India. The stick is the main rhythmic provider.

Having performances only, I bet not just me that the brain would get over-saturated. They have "Lucky-Draw session" every few performances. Just nice to let us rest and have a go to enjoy tailor-made performances for the audiences..

Datun Julud or Hornbill Dance is a traditional dance from Sarawak. The dance is from Kenyah tribe from Kabupaten, Balungan, Kutai Berau and Pasir. The dance was traditionally performed to greet returning warriors, as well as to mark the end of the rice harvest season. It is believed to celebrate happiness and gratitude.
The male dancer, Leonard is dressed as a warrior to depict the returning of warrior whilst the female dancer, Louisiana hold feather fans of hornbill feathers, moves up and down gracefully to depict the hornbill in flight.

Two men with one bass guitar and one acoustic guitar - Instrumental Performance.Though its only a bass and acoustic guitar, they managed to pull the show off with some classic yet reminiscing songs. Familiar faces, aren't they? Yep they're contestants from Mahsa Idol 2011 too (;

Next up, is the 'community anthem' performance by (from left): Danniel, Henry, Melvina, Faezah. Basically they're doing easy-to-sing songs. And most of the song are what we used to and have always been listening to.

One of the most anticipated one, with bigger than usual troup is none other than the Chinese Fan Dance. This dance was developed during the Han dynasty. The art of Chinese Fan Dance conveys the hue, extravagance, and splendor of the Chinese culture and is mesmerised by spectators all over the world. This dance highlights delicate movements with constantly changing rhythm, which is dynamic and graceful. It is a classical fan dance as it is based on simple classical chinese body movements, allowing the dance to be soft and flowing continuously. Chinese believe Chinese Fan Dance tells stories with its unique visual beauty. I love the fact that it is not solely performed by Chinese. Good to have other races to learn our culture too (;

My favourite! of all, is of course the stage play. As my brain is on the way getting over-saturated.. I would never expect this stage play to be tttttttthhhhhhhhhhaaaatttt Good! I love the casts, the plot, the story, the background, materials used. I can really see the efforts being put into this to make it a great one. Double thumbs up to everyone who involved. I can see some raw talents there.

Basically, its a story about a man who forgets about his friends and family when he succeeded. He is proud, rude, and harsh. Until everything is vanished from his life one by one, he realised that he didn't treasure and appreciate them as they should. And it's a lesson learnt. (Just a rough idea)

Following, a performance combining Sabah and Sarawak tribe dances like Warrior dance, Sumazao Dance, etc. It's great to see them wear different outfit from different tribe. Rare opportunity to see. Eye-opener for me to see these in Mahsa University College ;)

Another mesmerising performance accompanied by good vocals. Great indulgence in their singing :)

Seriously, their attire caught my attention. I thought only guys are wearing it. But I came to learn more about Zapin Dance through their performance. Zapin is a dance form originate in Malay-populated provinces. It is believed to be introduced by Arab, Muslim missionaries form Middle East in fourteenth century. In old days, only males are allowed to perform; females are included nowadays. It is used to be performed exclusively for religious ceremonies but through the years it has become a form of traditional entertainment, hence participation of female dancers is allowed. usually it is accompanied by traditional music ensemble.

Closing of the event, we have a long runway for showcasting different costume and attire for Chinese, Malay, Indian, and East Malaysians' different tribe.

A job well done to the committee members and ALL who are involved!

Overall, it was a good event. I mean REALLY GOOD EVENT. My eyes were fed with so many beautiful performances. I'm sorry for this entry to lack so many of the details but am trying to not make this post looked so wordy. Thanks for the invitation, awesome seats reservations for us-bloggers to take nice photos. "New Year's Eve" Movie

Well, it's been some time since I really went for a movie that I want to. Went alone watching this, thinking that the year is ending and Xmas is coming, I should watch something relative to these. So, it was a last minute decision to change from "You're the Apple of My Eye" to "New Year's Eve".

Why I chosed to watch this movie?

- Because there's sooooooo many starts inside, and it looks glam & interesting. Went in without any expectations at all.

Review:

Overall, I would give this movie a yes. Of course, I've read reviews online and most of them expected more and most didn't think this movie worth the value. Despite all this, I think the efforts should be appreciated. Ermm, what the director wanted to convey, is conveyed. I liked it. I think it's simple, just like a Saturday Night movie at home kinda movie. Feels comfortable, not with complicated plot and it really feels what it should be felt like the 31st Dec!!! =)

I laughed, almost shed tears, appreciate this movie throughout the 117 minutes. I thought, it's speaking to me , I love the words that they said. It's really about love, hope, forgiveness, 2nd chances, and fresh starts. Promises, Love, unexpectants, Some hillarious part inside are .. tickling .. =)

It's a good one, to me. Go watch! :)

So here I am sharing this to all of you :)
Each year, we'd be having a new year resolution and all that. I'm never really into it honestly speaking. hahaha I feel so bad for telling the truth!! Well, the point is that though I'm also doing a 'new year resolution' but I never really achieve it and so I came to a conclusion that it's pointless. And I've actually deleted the thought of setting it annually.

2011 has been Quite A Year for me =) Met so many challenges, people, things, opportunities, the goods and the bads... It's quite unbelievable in a way. Of course, it's a year that I've changed a lot, and learnt a lot. Definitely, am a better listener now. I chosed to care for people in a way that I don't usually do. I've been telling people that I'm not very expressive of what I usually want, esp physically. Of course, it's more comfortable for me to use words to express myself. Though I think I'm not that good either in words hahaha.
I'm sorry for confusing you guys!!! But it's really a thought from deep down so why not?

2011, I decided to be different. I decided to be a CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS for people around me. Well, it was an inspiration from Jaeson's blog about 365 days of love. I feel I would be very blissful if someone really blesses me and I thought why not?

2011 is coming to almost an end. The year has really be crazzzzzyyyyyyyyyyy!
I really can't describe it in words how crazy it is but it is! hahahahahaa
So here, I'm expressing what I really am feeling right now that I'm very happy blessing you guys giving you guys warmth, love, ear to listen, shoulder to learn on, your needs, your fav stuff, and etc ... It's been good really blessing someone whole-heartedly. I'm blessed blissfully in return and nothing beats the joy I had after becoming a channel to all. It has been good, and like I always said, God is Good all the timmmeeee! He's just awesome in His own way, isn't it?

It's a GREAT leap of faith for me to get over my faults, my pessimism, my ego, my pride, my thoughts on what would others think ... But I always remembered that we're seen bare in front of Him (metaphor) and He already knew what I am and He would be glad if I would MAKE.A.DIFFERENCE. And this kept me going all this while.

I love the people in my life, whether you're just passing by, but you're still, my passenger of life. And it's really great having you guys on board ;)

The truth is, women today need men more than ever. They just need men in different ways. Men can provide special support that can assist women in coping with the new stresses of modern life, but most women don't know how to get this support or to appreciate it properly when it is available. With a greater awareness of her needs, a woman can begin to appreciate what she is getting and focus less on what she is not getting. With a more realistic vision of what is possible rather than the Hollywood fantasy of a man who fulfills her every wish, she is better able to appreciate his efforts and not take for granted all the things her partner already does provide.

When she learns to appreciate what a man already offers, a woman holds the key to asking for more in small reasonable increments to get the support she needs and deserves. This is not only a formula for success, but it is also what real love is about.

The above quoted citation from John Gray's book, makes him realise something important. He went into richer understanding of lasting love with the help of his wife of the above statement. Love is not a fantasy of perfection in which our every need is met, but sharing a life together, striving to meet each other's needs as best as we can. Forgiving our partners for their mistakes and accepting their limitations can be just as fulfilling as appreciating their many gifts and successes. Just as it was difficult for her to live with a man who didn't always measure up to her expectations, it was challenging as well for John to accept that he couldn't and did not provide everything his wife's fantasy of a perfect relationship.

Just as women need to let go of expecting men to be perfect, men need to let go of expecting women to think men are perfect. Together, we learnt that our life doesn't have to be perfect for us to connect and support each other. Real Love does not demand perfection but actually embraces imperfection. Sharing this kind of love enriches all aspects of our lives and brings increasing fulfillment.

Intimate and truly loving relationships make up the fabric of a fulfilling life. The relentless demands in our lives to have more, go faster, and do better can distract us from this simple truth. LOYALTY

Question to ponder: How is loyalty an expression of true friendship?

Ruth's loyalty and commitment to her mother-in-law went beyond their cultural expectations. The two women had become friends. True friendship is characterised by loyalty, no matter what happens around you. There is a vast difference between knowing someone well and being a true friend. The greatest evidence of genuine friendship is loyalty, being available to help in times of distress or personal struggle. Too many people - and relatives! - are fair-weather friends. Simple & Logical theory:

Out of love, loyalty, passion which is the most important in a relationship? Loyalty and trust. These two surpasses everything. When a couple breaks up, it doesn't mean that they do not love each other. It's plainly because they don't trust each other that much compared to the beginning, and they're not anymore loyal. Love is still there. Some time you do wonder, why a couple who loved each other never end up together? It is because of the lackage of Trust, Loyalty, and Understanding in the person and the relationship / commitment they hold on to.

It's a non-bias passage. I hope it doesn't turn out to be offensive or sarcastic. It's just really something that I really really really want to share from the bottom of my heart...

I know its a slight unusual to relate Love & Loyalty.

Wisma Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu

I remembered I did a holiday trip with my family to KK last year (if I'm not mistaken). Being a part of KL for a year more, makes me used to the view of skyscrapers and shopping malls. Of course, those who came from Tawau either fly off to KL or KK for their shopping haven =)
Dad knowing that I'm sick of KL's life so he brought me along somewhere more "old-school"... One thing good about going holiday with family is that, we hunt for cheap goods with reasonable price. Not much branded-bias of us.

Of course, with emerging shopping malls in KK like Warisan Square, City Mall, 1Borneo, ... Wisma Merdeka is no longer the "it" mall/hang out place anymore ...

Among other places that I've been to in the building, I really love the Food Court in Wisma Merdeka. The building itself from outside might look old and dull but I never thought I would get such a nice insight from within! The ambience of the whole food court is great. I feel as if I'm home =D Being an avid reviewer of interior designs & architectural details... I've always been a fan of oriental, old-school, homey. I'm in love with Japanese, Germany interior. As you can see in the pictures, the stalls, table, chairs are from wood of different shade basic and earthy colours. A lot of details going on, using wood and varieties of texture and colours. One thing about the woody colour is that, it gives you a sense of belonging to home, and nature :). Quite dim lightening for the entire place I must say ... Would be a better place to chill rather than a nice heavy meal owing to not so good air ventilation and slight dim condition...I love how each stall is able to show their best deal with the astonishing high contrast and colourful white-framed photo gallery =D

The Fact that I give thumbs up* to this place is the creativity of them using bird's cage as a decoration detail of the lamp. Interesting ay? I just feel it's really cool and it's really nice. Not a bad choice for couples to come for a snack and drink. Some varieties of food is not too bad too. I like their avocado milkshake. I love some of their fingerfood too =)

I went to RELENT band concert, they're actually more recognised as 1am (One Accord Ministry) when they're performing for evangelistic purposes. Of course, they're local and they don't look extra-ordinary. But the moment when they play the musical instruments, the moment they open their lips, it feels so .... indescribably
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I don't really know how to put it in words but the mood just set in, the lyrics, the voice, the sound, the music, it's just beauuuutiful, plain beautiful. It's really from God and for God. I enjoyed so much. Really. It's really a good encounter & experience. Praise God! God is ALWAYS ALWAYS GOOD =D

In the previous post, I remembered telling you guys I have 'sudden urge' to do a lot of things, right? Haha* so yeah, one random day. I decided to make sushi out of simple ingredients again. It wasn't my first time making it, it's myyyy urmmm 3rd time? hahaha

So if you're interested in doing it, just grab simple ingredients of :Calrose Rice, Vinegar, Kikkoman Sause, cucumber, carrot, hotdog, filament, tuna, seaweed, mayonaise. And THAT'S-IT!

The result turns out to be NOT-BAD. Seems overwhelming after tryout by friends =D
I'll try out with you guys next time (;

I have sudden urge to do lots of things recently. I think it's prior to the enormous stress I'm having. Well, I feel like cooking a random day, so I picked up simplest ingredients: Spiral wholemeal spaghetti, green pea, sardine and just make them a meal. Its good to do little things for ourselves at times, don't you think so?

Speaking of which, am trying to be as productive as I can be but I ended up lazing at home. I love being at home, just sleeping my day away in my comfy room, my comfy bed.. argghhhh I'm missing it right now. I'm now back in the busy capital which I don't like that much. But I still have years to go.

When I'm long here, I sort of adapted to life here. But seriously, nothing beats home ay? haha
Yeah I'm missing those home-cooked food, my family, my friends, the pool, my room!!!

2D1N in Kota Kinabalu (October 2011)

Went to KK for a 'business trip'. Had very warmth hospitality treats from Natasha, Vachel & family. I knew it's going to be a rush trip. Nevertheless, I kinda enjoyed it. I like short trip, since I'm not going there for holiday. I would definitely stay longer if I were on a holiday mood. But current mood is to be home a.s.a.p.
I'm down with very severe home-sickness syndrome. LoL!

Before depart to LCCT, we drop by Tanjung Aru Beach where it's an all-time favourite to gaze at amazing sunset, strolling at beach side, enjoying your very own fresh coconut beverage. I must say, I enjoyed myself there thought it's only a short drop-by for about 30 minutes. You don't get that close to nature in KL. U'll only be getting that in Borneo!

I enjoyed taking breathtaking views the most. It's plain uplifting. Though I don't have very good camera with me, but I guess some editings would do some tricks, ay?

MAHSA Body Building & Fitness Competition 2011 [AND] MAHSA Idol Grand Final 2011 Recapitulation

Mahsa Body Building & Fitness Competition 2011
I'm sorry for the delay. I was too overwhelmed with so MANY stuffs happening all in a row, my assignment, VIVA, presentation, etc. Finally I'm done with my 4000+ words assignment. I spend 2 days editing all the photos I had during this event. I must say, editing the pictures is a challenge! (as I don't have very good camera =/) Due to insufficient lights, and at the same time more than sufficient light, I was having a hard time playing with colour curves, saturation, and lightning since most of the photos taken are over-exposed.

So, Yesterday I've released one group photo of the event as a "Sneak-Peak" for the people to have a slight gaze at. Boy-oh-boy, the photo(below) was well-received! =D

I arrived there around 4.30pm, as an effort to support and to witness how the whole thing run, and how the organisers are putting things together.
The night before, I get to talk to Prakash and Oclipz (people behind MBFC), both my seniors regarding MBFC (Mahsa Bodybuilding and Fitness Club). They told me about their background, and how they started this club, their vision, and etc... Both of them are very passionate people but I must say, they really have to work really hard as both of them are very very busy people! LoL

Basically, it is an Open competition to all MAHSA students and staffs. It was held at MAHSA Recreational Area / Student Lounge / Block E, 2nd Floor on 12th October 2011 from 6pm-8pm. The participants are competing against one another in their own category of 3 different categories (Mr. Muscle, Mr. Beach Boy, Mr. Tough Guy). Trophies + Certificate +MBFC T-Shirt is awarded to TOP 5 WINNERS.

Brief Recap:
Basically, the competition is divided into 2 sessions:
Each category posed in group for the 1st session, showing front, back, side, some other anatomical movement to prominently show respective muscles.
2nd session was a bit more interesting with individual 1 minute performance from each contestant with their own background music. I was impressed by few of the contestants who weren't just 'competing' but rather enjoying. Some of them are pretty creative too!

Overall, the event was a success! Honestly speaking, Prakash, Oclipz and I never expected that many people would come to support this event as we thought that Mahsa Idol Grand Final would be the ONLY focus for the day. Thanks for the supports, guys! =D

After witnessing Elimination Round, I got to say I'm still very impressed and blown away by the talents we got in Mahsa despite a week is over. I was uberly excited for the Final as I knew some of the contestants and I really hope to see their best performance on stage!

Let's Start Rollin'
So, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to give you brief details of their performances, and my thoughts on it, and some other extra things =)
Grand Finale was a slight different from Elimination Round. Each contestants are required to sing English song on their 1st round and a Malay song on their 2nd. And this time, they induced voting system where audiences' votes stand 40% of their total marks, whilst judges' marks weights 60%. It's a good system to get audiences involve.

1st Performance: Geek in the Pink

Geek in the Pink is a very interesting Trio Group. I would say, their performance during elimination round caught everyone's eyes. Mixing songs together is definitely their strongest point that is not found in others. They started the performance with an interesting video of how they came up with the name "Geek in the Pink". I have to compliment a lot on their effort of mixing song. I never thought Michael Buble's Sway & Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are could be sung together! Singing and synchronising together is not easy too. This needs a lot of understanding, and good hearing efforts. I was around them when they were practising til 3am in the morning prior to the finals. No one was loosening up until the final date. This is the sacrifice that each group paid to step up to that stage and to perform their best to all the audiences =)

Honestly speaking, I was expecting them to be one of Top 3 ;)

Personally, I feel this group deserves the best "Stage Presence & Performance"

2nd Performance: Chad @ Rozzl

Personally, I think he has the best outfit (1st round) of the night. I love the long outer coat, high neck collar with lace details. I would love to compliment his efforts on the stage settings too. The backdrop, candles, table, wine glass, ... Gave me a very vintage-ish, isolated, stranded, sad, lonely feeling. I find he has very rich facial expression when he's singing and the conveyance of the song is very smooth. I love him singing Beyoncé's Listen. That's one of my favourite song, also a song that I would challenge people to sing. Not everyone can sing that, you see! haha. He nailed it, he definitely has good vocals.
I feel he deserves the Best Outfit Award =)

3rd Performance: Siow Sze Hoong

Siow Sze Hoong, I can say she has the strongest supporting group at scene. She might look small, but trust me she has amazing big voice! Adele's Rolling in the Deep is the-song today. She definitely caught my heart with that song! I almost forget to take any picture of her as I was enjoying my indulgence in her voice while she sings. It's very very fascinating to see such young age being able to sing unplugged for Rolling in the Deep and Gemuruh by Faizal Tahir, another very uplifting spirit song which I sang when I was in a motivation camp for my SPM and STPM ;)

I feel she deserves the Best Vocal !

4th Performance: Meicther Lanius George

Meicther, is one who usually is behind the scene as he is not a very extroverted guy. I was following his blog some time ago, and I find him is a bit more of a low self-esteem person. I was shocked when he managed to put himself on stage, singing steadily to the audiences!!! He even managed to interact with the audience. Not all performers of the night do a lot of eye-contacts & interactions with the audiences. I feel him being able to perform so well and steady in front of the V.I.Ps....! I must compliment him in this. Really good efforts put =)
I feel he deserves the Best Interaction with Audiences Award ;)

5th Performance: Megalodon

Since I didn't take a group photo of them before the competition starts, I'll put more pictures of them here =). Megalodon is the biggest group here as you can see (above). I would compliment on their visual effects. 1st song when they were singing Sweet Child of Mine, the background was blinking continuously. I must say it's a very very effective and good strategy to get people to focus only on their performance! With their numbers, of course their audio effect is pretty amazing too. They have strong bass and acoustic guitar background. 2nd song was well brought about with the message telling the world, also with photo slides as background telling us what is happening out there despite us being in our comfort zone. A good way too! to let audiences anticipate using the number countdown! They looked so good as a group, looked professional, definitely good visual effect on stage!
I feel they deserve the Best Visual Effect on Stage

Overall, this event is definitely a SUCCESS! Congrats to the people and team behind all these. I'm anticipating for 2nd Mahsa Idol =) Let's not forget about people behind the scenes who worked hard to make this event a great success. I envisage that the next Mahsa Idol, would set a higher bar for the competition to draw more talents!

Undeniably, Reality Shows have been emerging enormously. The idea of this has always fascinates me in a way that it's a very effective approach as they're using audience to target audience. (If you can get what I mean). I've always been a fan of reality show and, most importantly! I'm a loyal viewer of Reality Shows. Just any, you name it. I watch all kinds of Reality Shows: ranging from Talent Scouting (Dancing, Singing, Cooking, Acting, Fashion Designer), Life Partner scouting, Weight loss shows, ...

I'm also very supportive of the idea of reality TV. Malaysia's own Reality Shows : Akademi Fantasia (loyal viewer from 1st season til now), Malaysian Idol (sadly unheard news after 2nd season), Mentor (never really keep track of it), ...

I remembered clearly when I 1st saw Mr. Andrew's post regarding Mahsa Idol's facebook event. My 1st responce was "you must be kidding with me!" hahaha I thought Mahsa would always be a place / University College with ~~least~~ activities.

Owing to my love towards reality show, I thought it's not a bad idea at all to give my support to Mahsa's very own 1st reality event! I anticipated for it and I really want to see great talents too amongst Allied Health Practitioner. It's not ironic actually though some people may say that it'll be weird for future Allied Health Practitioner to sing/dance/entertain on stage. I think it's a BONUS, and definitely an interesting side (artsy side), or should I say an undiscovered side of a person! =D

Witnessing the elimination round myself last Wednesday, I must say I was blown away by the number of talents. Get to see/hear a lot of voice from East Malaysia (judging from their slang a.k.a longhat) hahaha! Many Sabahan, I presume?

So, as you've seen above, this is the official poster regarding the event. I'm already waiting anxiously for it! Can't wait for it. Counting down in 2 days time!!! some time you just wonder how 24 hours go so fast? I remember I just went for the Elimination Round last Wednesday and finale is coming .. Wonder how's the prep going with contestants......

It's definitely an event where people invite people to join. Basically, it's good to see everyone gather around to give supports to each other without any discrimination, just purely support. Also, to just chill, have some fun, and relax after all the heavy loads of studies.

Mean time, We're wishing all the best to the final contestants to prepare. Hope they can W.O.W the audiences again!

Stoned when I log onto facebook, looking at photos of different part of bodies, people scolding, mocking, asking people to not post anything on facebook regarding the eerie car accident. Wow, life really is unexpected. I see two lives, about to get married, just vanish like that... YES .. POOFFF just like that.... =(
