On May 8th 2012, Joris, Nicole & Michael welcomed over 35 enthusiastic 'neighbours' of the river Schelde, to brainstorm about new initiatives to reinvigorate their surroundings (see also Scheldehelden). The meeting at the d'Ursel castle in Hingene was the first regional encounter. A nice harvest from the meeting led to a first selection of ideas for further elaboration.

On April 28 2012, Nicole will deliver a lecture entitled "Evaluating local and public envisioning processes from a user perspective" at the occasion of the World Appreciative Inquiry Conference taking place in Ghent. The lecture will take place within the context of the session "Envisioning the future on an institutional level".

Children and parents clearly care about their neighborhood and rendering it more sustainable. On April 2nd 2012, Michael and Joris - together with project partner Liesbeth Bakker from Stichting Es - facilitated a creative brainstorming session with children and parents in Maastricht (NL).

On March 29, Nik gave a lecture - together with Pieter Lesage from project partner Concrete - at the occasion of the VVSG Trefdag, a day of encounter organized by the Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities. Together they presented the Streetstarters project and its resulting final concept: MIOS (Museum in our street), a social design concept to stimulate neighbours to get to know each other a little better and to enhance social cohesion at streetlevel.

On March 6th, Joris and Michael took their search for heroes of the Schelde-area to the streets. The Scheldehelden-van started its tour around the local weekly markets. On the evening of Monday February 13th, Nik & Emiel, together with project partners Pieter & Dries from Concrete, welcomed inhabitants, interviewees of the Straatstarters project and those professionally involved in neighborhood improvement, to the city of Antwerp's Atlas-building. A selection of design concepts by Pantopicon & Concrete, inspired by extensive inspirational field research, were presented and discussed with the participants.

serious game sustainable delta

On January 18th 2012, the serious game "Sustainable Delta" was played for the first time with a group of about 60 Deltares employees. The game - around perspectives in policy- & decision-making regarding water management - was developed by a project consortium consisting of Deltares, ICIS, KNMI, Carthago, Utrecht University, Tygron and Pantopicon.
