For us, it's a daily frustration and eternal motivation. Which is why we love being exposed to tracks like this one, from two years ago.

Norwegian DJ Velferd serves up a chilled, disco-dipped take on Helsinki-based Uusi Fantasia's collaboration with Kings of Convenience's other half--you know, the one that isn't Erlend Øye, but rather Eirik Bøe. With typically low-key-cool vocals and perfectly placed instrumentals, it's definitely a song worthy of a Scandinavian springtime, and we're thrilled to add it to our playlists, even a couple years later.

Sorry we've been quiet guys! Was on vacation skiing in Aspen last week, then down to a friend's wedding in Florida, followed by a somewhat deserved cold after dancing a bit too hard with the bride and groom. As I unpacked to the itunes stream of JT's new album, I entered into a debate with a few friends on his choice of song length. I'm with the camp that thinks 7-8 minutes is too long for his music; even if he is trying to drift towards dance it is still radio-pop to me.

The conversation reminded me of this Lulu Rouge remix I've kept on solid rotation in my life-soundtrack for more than a year now. Bound together by a brassy bass, it earns its eight-minute mark through a variety of movements, with a heart-beat that swells through the sixth minute and ebbs just as hard as it flows.

When I was in college I had a late night conversation with a friend over the difference between love and being in love. I figured it out (randomly, on the train the other day) and now I feel stupid that I didn't understand this all along: "love" is an action, something that only exists when it's acted out, "in love" is a state of being, a way of defining yourself or something. Think chemistry class and those graphs with potential and kinetic energy curves--it's the same as the difference between "melting" and "warming up".

So where does falling in love fit in to all of this? You'll have to ask Vario.

World, meet Denitza Todorova, aka D E N A. Although it's easy to draw parallels of her work to commercially minded alts like Lana and M.I.A, I see a playfulness in the Bulgarian-born, Berlin-based baroness that reads more genuine.

The video has been out since early-summer, but more timely is the EP mini-mix as Kitsune gears up to release the Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools EP out January 28th. As with any set of remixes, we will all have a few favorites, but it's enjoyable to hear so many interpretations of the song mixed into one mp3.

Undeniably happy with a sprinkle of Madonna, this song is a gamechanger. After rewinding mid-mix multiple times, I began a fruitless hunt for the song. It's difficult to distinguish any of the lyrics in this song apart from the word "madness." However, it's quite appropriate as that's the word that best describes it. The mix of staccato sounds all manage to come together to create a sort of magical maelstrom. It's evident here that Florian Bery has mastered the art of creating beauty with madness.

This space is oft reserved for the meandering of my weekly wonderment, but every so often an artist or song comes around that begs to be highlighted. This time around its Diplo's 'About That Life' featuring Jahan Lennon. Diplo you say? Yes, and while he has been showered with every golden laurel - as of late his favela escapada & Nolia clap has left a flat, leftover taste.

Even 'Express Yourself', minus its amazing dance moves, felt out of place - much like his contributions on MAYA. However with 'About That Life' displays a return to form in a sense for Diplo. With its obvious cues from Desi culture, 'About That Life' accomplishes a melodic, transcendentalist middle-finger to the many of us who had tired.

This dude's been killing it for years and here is just another track that embodies that melody-hummin ass-shakin combination that he's managed to keep up for almost a decade now.
