The GP Liaison Department liaises with GP’s, consultants, their secretaries and the patient to provide a bespoke service organising timely and convenient appointments at London Bridge Hospital and its satellite centres.

The London Bridge Hospital app provides an accessible platform for GPs and patients to swiftly access information on the hospital’s renowned Consultants whilst providing a direct link to the GP Liaison Department.

The app allows GPs and patients to conveniently search over 600 Consultants practising at London Bridge Hospital and its Outpatient Centres. The app can be used to search by specialist name and speciality, where Consultants matching the search term will appear along with their full profile.

GPs can also contact the hospital’s GP Liaison team directly through the app to refer patients and enquire and book appointments for consultations or treatment.

Describe your business and your target market.

Paper Bag is a full-service mobile apps agency in the heart of London’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’.  We work with our clients in defining their mobile strategies and developing their apps to realise their vision. With expertise in both commercial and government projects we deliver bespoke apps across all the major smartphone platforms.  Our target market is all brands and businesses that are ready to embrace mobile bringing their products and services to the small screen.

What makes your business unique?

Paper Bag lives and breathes mobile everyday and pride ourselves in being experts in this field.  Furthermore, we understand that for many businesses mobile technology is new territory and a little daunting.  Therefore, we endeavour to go above and beyond the norm to ensure our clients clearly understand the process and the opportunities it presents for them.

What has been your proudest day in business?

Every time we publish an app it is a proud day – seeing a concept turn into reality.  However, two day’s that stand out so far are firstly when one of our apps was featured by Apple on the iTunes App Store and secondly, the day we secured that first big client.

What has been your hardest business day?

There has been many but on the occasions when we have worked tirelessly on pitching for potential projects to then narrowly miss out.

What is the most important lesson you have learned in business?

Don’t take anything personal and take the positives out of disappointments to make you and your business stronger going forward.

Who or what is your biggest influence?

Family and friends – for their unwavering support and belief in my ability to succeed no matter what, despite some difficult days.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

The entrepreneurs who have been there, done that and are helping the next generation of young entrepreneurs by telling their stories and reaching out.

If you had a business slogan what would it be?

Always remain honest to yourself and your brand.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years time?

To be running a trusted and profitable business that works with, and is recognised by, big brands globally.

What advice would you give to a budding entrepreneur?

Don’t wait for opportunities to present themselves, have the ‘get up and go’ attitude to seek out those opportunities.  Trust your ‘gut instinct’ when making tough decisions – it hasn’t severed me wrong yet.

1. How did you get into your line of work?

A Computer Science graduate, I was a professional Software Developer for five years before forming Paper Bag.  I’d always planned to form an IT start-up and mobile app development was a natural fit – it’s cutting edge and a very fast growing market.

2. What do you do day to day?

Because the company is quite young each day tends to be very different.  My duties involve sales, marketing, project management, strategic planning & product development.

3. The best part of your job… is the diverse range of sectors we work on and the people I meet. We’re working with Body in Balance TV at the moment in partnership with KD Web to develop an iPhone & iPad app for the “perfect bum”.

4. What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Like all start-ups at the moment, managing cash flow and growing a business in economical uncertainty.

Henry raised an interesting opinion suggesting that HTC and Samsung, two of the leading Android-based smartphone makers may feel somewhat betrayed about the fact that their “partner” Google is now competing directly with them for hardware sales.

He also questions what Google’s motives are behind the deal, where this leaves Microsoft and what their investors will think of the deal.

Key findings:

* 48% spend most money when using their iPad in comparison to 19% computer, 16% Laptop, 11% Mobile Phone and 4% Cable/Internet TV.
* Generally an entire household share the iPad.
* 33% pay for 20-49 apps. 24% 10-19 apps and 26% 0-9 apps.

* 88% use the iPad for media consumption (music, videos etc), 98% for internet browsing and 94% for email.
* Only 0.2% are unimpressed by the iPad.
