I just wanted to let you all know that I will be closing down my typepad blog tomorrow and restarting my blog on my old blogger site. I thought I would post here in case my domain www.paperhearts.ca is in limbo for a few days. I had only went with Typepad because I could create galleries and I am rarely using that feature so I thought that I would save myself the extra monthly expense and just go back to my old site. If my domain isn't working for a day or two you can access my site at www.juliecameron.blogspot.com. For those of you who access my site through feedburner or email subscriptions I'm not sure exactly what will happen but I will add those features to my blogger site as well.

I'm on a mission

My pile of "scraps" as some people call them is getting bigger than life! I am on a mission to use up a majority of these small pieces of cardstock and patterned papers before I use anymore fresh ones to add to my unending pile. The smaller pieces are great for punch art and die cutting! Mini cards are a great way to use those small pieces so they find a use without making its way to the recycle bin. If I showed you the amount of white cardstock I have in my "scrap bin" you would be floored. My white cardstock has a huge bin of its own! So stay tuned for many posts to come that will use up my scraps. I hope you can join me in this "green adventure in paper crafting" and show me your scrap cards too!

I chose not to stamp a sentiment on this card so it can be used for a new baby, baby shower or a little boy's birthday. I created it with punches (circle, square and star) and added some foam squares underneath for dimension.

Little Baby Snail

I made this card for the Clean and Simple challenge on Split Coast Stampers. The challenge was to use Green, Brown and a neutral (white or cream). Green and Brown is one of my favourite colour combos, so this was a pretty easy challenge for me. I used Baby Button Bits for the snail and My Punny Valentine for the grass and Polka Dot Basics for the polka dot pattern at the bottom of the card. I also added a little brown star to jazz it up a bit. Thanks for visiting.

I picked up this Quickutz kite diecut on clearance for only $2.00. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do with it when I bought it but this is what I came up with. (I submitted this particular card to CARDS last call but it wasn't picked up). I used the sentiment from Everyday Button Bits and the swirly dotted image from Baby Button Bits to make the tail of the kite. I also used a tree diecut to make the clouds and punched a heart with my Fiskars punch.

Everyone is sleeping in my house, so I am going to take a bit of time to make some cards and enjoy a little me time! Thanks for visiting.

Baby Boy Sailboat Card

For this baby boy card, I used Tiny Treat Valentine to create the main boat image. I also used Polka Dot Basics to create the subtle background with the circular image. I added a little machine stitching and a scalloped border and a sentiment from Baby Button Bits in Burnt Umber ink. I also added a bit of glittering to the boat image to jazz it up a bit. Little Baby Onesie

Just a quickie post today! I started off with a piece of pretty pink gingham paper. I cut the onesie from pink cardstock and punched a little yellow duckie which I added a bit of dimension with some copics. I accented the onesie with some cute little buttons and stamped the sentiment on a panel of matching yeloow cardstock which I accented with a punched border strip. Thanks for visiting.

The main leaf image is from Blooming Button Bits and was stamped in Burnt Umber ink. I punched out some flowers in Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy and Taupe cardstock and added a medium brown rhinestone to the center. I placed everything on a light olive panel which I jazzed up a bit with my fancy corner punch. I tied some string and accented the colours with two strips of cardstock in dark brown and pure poppy. I embossed the background with a texture plate by Fiskars. Thanks for visiting.

Custom Cards: Pretty Pink Ballerina

Sorry I have been missing in action! Between school, my kids and orders I have been swamped the last week and haven't had any time to just create! (Going to take a little time this morning actually). Anyhow, I was asked to create a custom personalized first birthday card. The theme of this little one's birthday party is a ballerina party so she had to have a little card to match!

Little Flower

For this card I stamped the background with Polka Dot Basics. The main image was created with Blooming Button Bits in Ripe Avocado ink. I punched out a flower with my Fiskars punch and accented it with a little glitter. The vase is by Quickutz which I jazzed up with the argyle type image from Take a Bough. The sentiment is also from Blooming Button Bits stamped in Noir ink.

Yesterday I went to Paula's class at Stamping Bella. I had lots of fun colouring (something I normally don't do). We only managed to get through one card in the two hours of class time! Yikes colouring takes a long time. If you are able to take Paula's class then I recommend that you do, her colouring is soo purty!

I decided to participate in the clean and simple challenge on Split Coast Stampers this week and I cam up with this cheerful card. Topic is wishing for spring (I think this card says spring, don't you?) I started off with a lemon tart cardstock and stamped my favourite leaf image from Turning a new leaf in Sunflower ink. I then used the stems form with sympathy and masked the image to partially stamp it in Ripe Avocado ink on the embossed nesties square. I stamped the tiny little flower in sunflower ink and added a dot to the center with a brown pen. I punched out a tiny butterfly in dark chocolate cardstock and stamped the sentiment in burnt umber ink to tie in more of the brown from the main panel. Then I mounted the nesties with foam squares.
