Did Covid-19 really healed the Environs?

The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and its spread to over 200 countries worldwide halted the whole world. Many human activities as well as the economic and health care systems were affected. Implementation of Lock-downs, quarantines, and border closures in the wake of the pandemic has resulted in reduced air pollution through decreased travel.

Pictures of smog-free skies and videos of rhinos and wild buffaloes running across roads and comparatively cleaner rivers could easily lead you to believe that nature thrived during the coronavirus pandemic. Lockdown was good news for certain species. And that may not be further from the case for many many wild animals.

WILDLIFE:

Coronavirus lockdowns have caused concern in many parts of the developing world over increased illegal hunting that is driven by food shortages and a reduction in law enforcement in some wildlife protected areas. Meanwhile, border closures and travel bans slowed some illegal high-value species trade.

Nepal, where the virus has destroyed substantial income from migrants and tourists, experienced more forest-related crimes in the first month of the lockdown, including poaching and illegal logging, than in the previous 11 months, according to a government analysis and the World Wildlife Fund. For many migrants who returned to the villages after job losses, forests were the most convenient source of sustenance.

In Sagarmatha National Park too there were dead animals in wire traps set up by poachers but the authorities there didn’t know until a normal citizen noticed when she went to the jungle to collect fodder. It really raises questions for the 95staffs allocated there for the Protection of NP. Those poachers then trade the supply of animals via the walking route all the way to China.

Although the significant negative consequences of living through the COVID-19 pandemic are apparent – psychological stress, panic, serious global economic losses, worried health care systems, and general social disruption – the current pandemic may also have some indirect positive impacts. Virus outbreaks can have significant negative effects on human health, but changes in our lifestyle due to outbreak responses may serve as a reminder of potential positive environmental, human, animal, and ecosystem changes. We rely on nature for our health, jobs & so much more.

Zoonotic Diseases Vs COVID-19:

75 % of all new infectious diseases emerged from the wildlife. And science is not yet certain, the origin of COVID-19 is thought to be linked with human-wildlife transmission.

When more and more humans encroach and diminish existing natural habitats, and while the urbanization cycle is bringing us ever closer to biodiversity, we are growing our risk for access to disease-causing pathogens. If we reconsider our partnership with nature, we might replicate zoonotic pandemics, again and again.

Social distancing and quarantines have contributed to significant reductions in travel as many workers are switching to working from home. The ongoing quarantines and travel restrictions imposed by many countries have resulted in decreased use of and demand for oil and its products, which have resulted in reduced emissions of smoke and waste due to oil use.

Such positive effects on the environment are possibly only temporary but may serve as an example of how improvements in our way of life can have prompt positive effects on the environment and illustrate the effectiveness of travel-reducing steps such as online meetings or teleconferences. Therefore, considering that COVID-19 is predominantly a global catastrophe, the pandemic can encourage potential behavioral changes with positive environmental impacts.

During COVID-19, single-use plastics like surgical masks, gloves, and plastic cups were vital in supporting the community. There is no doubt that single-use plastic has become a lifesaver in combating COVID-19, particularly for frontline health workers. Still, a big global proble

m is plastics and their processing, though. However, plastics and its disposal is a major global issue.

Soaring home deliveries of food and use of the face mask is another thing to consider. The average face mask demand in China soared to 116 million in February which is 12 times higher than the previous month. As a result of the increasing use of disposable face masks, a large number of masks have been discarded in the natural world, contributing to the global plastic waste burden. Governments need to ensure proper support for waste management schemes to cope with existing and potential plastic waste.

Pollution

The decline in pollution was mainly due to decreased production, which adds carbon emissions to transport on a comparable scale. Combined production process, mining, and building pollution account for 18.4 % of total anthropogenic emissions. The 2008-09 financial crisis resulted in an average pollution decline of 1.3 %. But it quickly bounced back by 2010 as the economy recovered, leading to an all-time high. (Source: C2ES)

This is not the first time an outbreak has made its mark on CO₂ levels in the atmosphere. History shows disease transmission has been associated with lower pollution-even long before the industrial era.

The lockdown & related steps resulted in a rapid downturn in economic activity and a drop in road transport in many cities. We have witnessed and felt a reduction in air pollution. What we know for sure is that air pollution already kills 7 million people prematurely worldwide. And we have to tackle the causes of air pollution, no matter what. This is a nature’s “Great Reset” and the governments have a better opportunity to make better decisions as they rebuild their economies.

Climate change is an accumulated problem. It is not similar as other pollution. It is not like that where someone is putting trash in the river and then they stop putting it and the river is cleaned. It depends on all the emissions we released in the past.

Apparently, the drastic acts taken in the pandemic times can’t be directly copy pasted in non-pandemic times to achieve the positive results. But, we have lessons that can be learned, and that inspiration can be gained from the fact that swift positive feedback is seen when action is taken.

Our nature is susceptible to biodiversity and destruction of habitat, global flooding and industrial waste. Negligence to act on right time is humanity's failure. Humankind now relies on action for a safe and sustainable future. This pandemic is terrible. And it’s not the best way to reduce CO2. But, what this event does show is that when humankind is unified behind a mutual mission, dramatic changes will happen on short period.

Datsun Go Sport Version

Suzuki Grand Vitara Desert Runner Modification

This is the Suzuki Grand Vitara which has assembly plants in 5 places(Japan, Spain, Iran, Indonesia, Ecuador). It is also named as Suzuki Escudo.

Below I've modified the 5Door version of Grand Vitara

You can see the rims are black. All the

rear lights and headlights are smoked. Also the windshields, windows, sunroof are tinted black. The body has got unique paint job livery. The livery is inspired from the older version of Vitara below.

Toyota Hilux Dakar

Made this Toyota hilux a super off-road companion. It has got cool blue colour with black as secondary colour. The bed is covered with fiberglass Top. Replaced the stock wheels with some serious offroading wheels in black rims. The fender and under-body are painted in black. Also an additional Driving light just above the hood. The headlight and rear light are also replaced. Also the black decal running from rear light to headlight.

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 BCedition

This is the modified version of the standard pulsar NS200 called BCedition. I made this for one of my friend. It features red body paint job with few decals and stickers on it. The actual silencer is underbelly exhausts but i have replaced them with slip-on exhaust pipes. The back seat is coloured red to match the bike's colour. The rims has got red pinstripes. EROC Concept SUV-built on LR Defender

Here is a concept vehicle EROC. It is built on the platform of Land Rover Defender 110. I came to know original LandRover Defenders are going to be discontinued from 2015. They are going to redesign a new Defender. North America don't allow import of LR Defender due to their high fuel consumption and size.
I like Defender so much due their rugged capabilities and many over-landers use this vehicle as expedition vehicle. So I made EROC on Defender's chassis platform.
I made 3 of the versions: Fullsize SUV, Single Cab Long-bed Pickup, Double Cab Short-bed .
The ground clearance is very big. The approach angle and departing angle are also big. So below are all the all 3 versions.

TATA XENON

After a long time back with a new foxy chop. Yeah it's Tata Xenon. I have modified this pickup truck into a new design mainly for off road purpose. The main thing you will notice is that the run board is reduced to half and is made single crew cab. It has got the bumper with a new shield.The exhaust pipe comes from the right side of the rear tire. The rear light is changed, the mirror with integrated side light. Added the decals of TATA, 4x4, PARI… Over all I made it keeping in mind to look really foxy and off-road. Well what's your opinion please do share.

The McLaren F1 is a sports car designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive in England. So its the British engineering. Unlike other similar cars it has got 3 seats. Despite made in the 1996 it still is the one of the fastest car in the world.

Now this is a perfect ride, the 1996 McLaren F1 LM. So how is the Black-Red Combination on this beast looking?

Here is a picture of the Tempo with matte black paint and yellow colour variation.
Its body is clean without any scratches and also has got some nice interior. Oh and a set of 4 fog lights mounted on the roof. The only one thing it does not have is the wiper in front windshield.

SAFA Tempos: Electric Vehicles to Save Pollution(Electric Vehicle in Nepal)

The history of EV (Electric Vehicle) in Kathmandu, Nepal is 37 years old. In those days the vehicles were in limited numbers. There were very old vehicles which was not emission free. Vehicles like Volkswagen Bettle, Volkswagen Camper, Bajaj Tempo and other were in use at that time. But now the automobile market in Nepal is increasing quickly. There are lots of vehicles in the Streets of Kathmandu. This increased number of diesel and petrol vehicle has raised a major problem including congested roads, traffic jams, road accidents, air pollution and so on. These kinds of problems can be reduced by use of zero emission vehicles. In context of Kathmandu, EVs are the most suitable means of transportation as they are pollution free, small and speed restricted.

In 1975 Chinese government introduced 13km route between Tripureshowr and Surya Binayak by Trolley Bus system which was later closed in 2001.In 1996 a team of Nepali professionals and entrepreneurs bought the 7 EVs and started the former EV Company(Nepal Electric Vehicle Company) in Kathmandu. This was the beginning of the EVs in Nepal.

Manufacturing of SAFA tempos increased when the GON (Government Of Nepal) declared to stop the operation of diesel-operated 3-wheelers from Kathmandu because they caused a lot of air pollution. In effect, a huge number of diesel powered 3wheelers were transformed into the EVs (SAFA tempos). Now there are more than 600 Tempos operated throughout out the city. To charge them, 37+ Charging Stations are sited. EVCO and other 4 manufacturers are involved to build it.

Advantages of EV

· Zero emission thus less pollution

· Low noise level

· Short distances & low speed – thus appropriate for Kathmandu where streets are narrow, traffic speed is low and travel distances are short

· Promotes the use of clean energy (hydro-electricity) thus reduces the use of fossil fuel.

· Uses off peak hour electricity since battery are charged during nights.

· Local industry - creates employment for local people.

· Attract tourists.

· Revenue source for government from the sale of electricity.

Technical characteristic of EV:
The driving component of an EV is a DC motor with variable speed and power. In SAFA tempo twelve deep cycle batteries each being a 6V (total 72V) is used to provide the traction power to the vehicle. An electronic controller is used to govern the regime based on which the DC motor operates at variable speed and variable power. The components of the EV are imported and assembled here in Nepal. The main body part and the chassis are imported from India whereas the electronic components are imported from US. The parts that are imported from US are:
            battery
            converter
            motor
            controller
            fuel gauge
            connector contact
            carbon brush etc.

The chassis of the SAFA can withstand the weight of 12 people along with one set of batteries. The gross weight of SAFA tempo is 1000kg. Two sets of batteries are required for the commercial operation of EVs. A battery charging and exchange stations is also required along the route.

Future Trend

In the future we can expect to see expansion of the trolley bus system, new types of EVs and improved batteries, provided that the government supports the development of this industry.

An NGO named Himalayan Light Foundation (HLF) in collaboration with Lotus Energy has recently modified a milk float from the UK to make a new electric-bus. According to the manufacturers, the electro-bus has a capacity to carry 18-22 passengers (2500kg) and runs on a 72 volt dc heavy duty deep cycle battery comprised of 36 pieces of 2 volt cells. The electro-bus has a 600-amp sepex controller (much bigger than safa tempo) and this allows for regenerative braking (which means the motor becomes a generator when the brakes are applied). The motor is a locally re-fabricated morris motor of approximately 18-horse power. The vehicles can go at a speed of approximately 45 km/hr but reaches this speed faster than a Safa Tempo. Currently HLF has manufactured one Electro Bus, and plans to make three more if the government allows them to do so. Although the Electro Bus has been ready for more than six months, the government has not yet given permission to HLF to operate the Electro-Bus on a trial basis.

A private company has also initiated the process of importing electric cars called "Reva" from India. According to manufacturers, the car has a range of 80 km (fully loaded) per charge and has a running cost of Rs. 1 per km. The cars are currently stuck at the customs due to lack of government support.

In the future, there are also possibilities for introducing electric motorcycles and cycles in Kathmandu. Hybrid vehicles (both diesel/petrol and electricity operated) are also possibilities in the future. With improvements vehicle and battery technologies, it is expected that electric vehicles will be cheaper and more popular in the future.

Mahindra Scropio goes Monster

The Mahindra Scorpio is an SUV manufactured by Mahindra Company. It was the first SUV from the brand built for the international market. As its body is mighty and daring I thought of making its Monster version. Then the result of the work was fine and i am happy with it.

The monster chassis with big fine tires makes it look more aggressive.The upper body part was fetched from previous Mahindra scropio 4x4 modification. And is altered with some minor changes which can easily be noticed.

Tata Indica Vista Sport Modification

Indica Vista is a hatchback automobile series manufactured by Tata Motors in India and is also considered India's first developed passenger car. I came up with the idea to facelift its current version by a sport looking front facelift. So, I replaced the old headlights by the Hyundai sonata.

Then the horizontal grill by placing unusual TATA logo. The front bumper has large front vents. And obvious the white body colour. Apart from above changes there are other slight changes.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK (Stubby SUV)

The GL is a stubby and almost attractive production of the all-terrain vehicle paradigm and the existing Mercedes-Benz style guide, especially after its 2013 model year renovation. The interior has equally graduated to the recent range standard style, including big bulks of polished walnut, leather and the “jet engine” ventilation outlets from the range-topping SLS.

The GLK350 (2 wheel drive) and GLK350 4MATIC (4 wheel drive) are both powered by a fuel-efficient 3.5- liter direct-injection V6 gasoline engine generating 302 hp (225 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque from 3,500 to 5,250 rpm.

German automotive tuner Brabus has been offering tuned cars for the rich and even wealthier since 1977. Besides cars, the tuner offers a yacht customization tune-up, and it newly turned its interest to the skies, where it will convert private jets to the preferred specifications of paying customers.

The new venture's work will be focused mainly on jet cabins, where it will offer such upgrades as leather upholstery, Alcantara accents and wood trim. The company also mentions that it can customize the exterior of the plane - so that jet with matte black vinyl wrap, exposed carbon fiber accents and neon lights. Brabus says that customers can either work closely with it in designing their own plane from the ground up or can choose from several pre-designed packages. The "Sportive" package is a sports car-inspired, gray-and-black theme with leather, Alcantara, indirect LED lighting and carbon fiber. Red stitching adds to the fast, high-end supercar feel.
It shows some planes with a range of forms of carbon fiber designs and painted winglets.
Entertainment system inspired by its iBusiness 800. The entertainment system includes docking for multimedia devices like the Apple iPad. Brabus offers its airplane customization services on both brand new and existing heavy jets.

Nissan is launching what it calls the Easy Fill Tire Alert system, an sensitive feature that handles the whole thing about tire pressure save for actually putting the air in.

Newer cars have different types of sensor systems that let you know when you need to put in air, but they can be particular and unspecific. The Nissan Easy Fill Tire Alert takes sensor-based pressure monitoring to a new level of convenience.

The Easy Fill system also serves as a digital gauge when filling your tires. Instead of dealing with cold pressure measurements and those annoying pressure gauges attached to the gas station pump, you can simply start pumping. The car's lights will flash to let you know that air is going into the tire, and the car will sound the horn when you've reached pressure. TATA NANO TURBO Hatchback

The cheapest car in the world known as TATA NANO is now converted into a mid sized hatchback (TATA NANO TURBO). It is more bigger than the original nano. It is equipped with Turbo charged Engine which is more powerful. It is just an concept form of future TATA nano which is limited only inside a picture.

The above picture is of TATA NANO. The modified version of above car is below. The bonnet hood is extended to fit a turbo charged engine.

It has Tyre with rear and front disc brakes and unique rims. Some body structures are changed like in front part rear part and the door side. It has all-round body protecting black side skirts and rear and front bumpers. This is the result..

Mitsubishi lancer evolution x sport version

Came an idea of converting the lancer into more sporty car. So i made one with 2seaters and a large vent at the side of the car. Finally the colour of the car(Orange and White).
