Claro Walnut is one of my favourite materials to work with. It has the lovely dry tone of maple and a handsome marbled look and figure.

This recently completed guitar has Claro walnut on the back and sides, a gorgeous bearclaw spruce soundboard, deluxe maple binding and a one piece maple neck. It also has a player’s side soundport.

Park Guitars at the 2011 NAMM Show

Every year in January, members of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) gather in Anaheim, CA for an trade show that attracts participants from across the globe, with companies ranging from the largest multi-national music corporations to smaller, independent producers. It is a remarkable show which hopes to help represent a 17 billion dollar global music products industry.

In 1998, NAMM focused its considerable organizational strength to create The Museum of Making Music whose mission it is to “celebrate the rich history and encourage the future of music making.”

This year, NAMM has allocated space in Hall E of the Anaheim Convention Centre where The Museum will oversee a display entitled “Celebrating the Paths of the Small Shop Luthier.” In the words of curator Carolyn Grant “the work of the small shop luthier is often a point of conversion–a place where innovation, craftsmanship, artistry, vision…come together and find expression in instruments of exquisite depth and insight, as well as sonic and visual art.” Park Guitars is pleased to be included in this show of fine work.
