As the relentless heat just keeps pounding away, I thought this was the perfect time to remind everyone about the need to stay hydrated. Don’t be fooled by the title of this edition though; This ain’t meant to cool you down, just to make you sweat like you’ve been on 24 hour sex marathon. This set packs enough heat to burn 5,000 calories x 2 more = 15,000. Now that’s a regimen I think we can all get into. The Disco Boys kick things off with Love Tonight. All the mixes that accompany this release are good, but the Jay Frog production takes the melody and drops in a nice piano re-work ala David Guetta making for a sweet Miami house summer track. We got a new remix of Love Tonight by Esmee Denters. The Doman & Gooding production takes the song and blows it through the ceiling. Warning, this is not for the faint at heart. Scraping the bottom of the barrel, volume three ain’t exactly leftovers. In fact, I’d say this is a full course meal, in and of itself. Ecuador and The Launch kick things off with crazy-ass hands in the air mayhem. Between The Launch and Darude’s Sandstorm, it’s difficult to say who spun off the most mashups. Both have addicting rhythms and both have been sent through the ringer in various incarnations making them an obvious choice as trance classics in an undefined category. Perhaps three of the biggest tracks here are Insomnia by Faithless, that has enough hook it could feed a heroin addict’s habit for years, the glorious Cafe Del Mar by Energy 52 and the quiet beauty of one of my all-time personal favorites Gouryella. Motorcycle’s As the Rush Comes came at the end of a long successful run for trance music and introduced the world to the magnificent Jes, who has been running strong ever since. Who could forget Days Go By by Dirty Vegas? Featured in a Mitsubishi car commercial that was played on TV about every station break, the song went on to become an international sensation. I’m serving up volume two of the Classic Trance series. Hold on to your shorts, because this one’s got some whoppers in it and I don’t want any of you shitting your pants, because I didn’t warn you. From the first of two (though there are several more) giant tracks from Faithless (God Is A DJ), the massive Armand Van Buren remix of the iiO classic Rapture, Tiesto’s epic remix of Silence by Delerium and Sarah McLachlan to the smoldering Quincey & Sonance rework of Beautiful Day by U2 and everything crammed between, this is one long euphoric journey through the state of trance. Is everyone winding down their week and getting ready for the weekend, because I know I am. I’ll be serving up the final volume a day early because of other things I got going on. Which reminds me, if you want these for your weekend enjoyment, I’d suggest you grab them as soon as I post them. Born out of the Acid House UK underground parties of the late 80s, trance was a centrical part of the rave scene. Having really taken off by the mid-90s and spreading throughout the US, it reached it’s peak in the early millennium. Fueled by drug use (ecstasy being the most popular) and unlicensed house parties that started on the east coast and quickly spread to the west coast, the demise of the scene was inevitable. By the time municipalities began cracking down and passing laws preventing the ability to have these unregulated parties, the major labels were already jumping in on the action. Suddenly, the underground became mainstream and the euphoria presented at these parties began to wane. Today, trance music has been largely subjected to the underground with a very loyal following, but it has yet to produce some of the monster DJs of the original scene from back in the day. These three sets are an ode to when trance music WAS good. All the large underground classics by William Orbit, System F, Underworld, Tiesto, Sasha, BT, Armand Van Buren are here. Due to the recession, there appears to be a lack of funky, uplifting summer vocal house this year. At least that’s my impression. I’m guessing it’s cheaper to put together sampled music, without having to pay a vocalist to actually sing. Who knows for sure. As opposed to previous years, there just wasn’t that much getting served this go around. However, Party Favorz won’t allow that to spoil our fun. Always the adjuster for sorry-ass situations, I managed to pull out a couple of outstanding funky vocal stompers, with a little old skool rap and some Latin vibes and glued together with some serious filtered disco. Ultimately, this is one surefire summer pleaser that will put the funk back in your trunk! I’m running way behind on the latest G-Spot, which has a pre-release album review, a contest and some super hot new dance releases. Hopefully I can wrap that up by the end of next week. I’ve also got the latest Chrome Edition up and ready to go as early as Monday. During that time, I will be doing my best to pull my personal shit together and get myself back on track. TP2K10 v2 | Encore | Forever Thunderpuss

Following up on the heels of the TP2K10 v1, the second installment brings everything together with some of the biggest all-time drama on the dancefloor. From the Billie Myers tear-jerker Kiss the Rain to Amber’s uplifting power anthem Above the Clouds, Lara Fabian’s defiant I Will Love Again, Whitney’s “crack is whack” Try It On My Own and yes of course, the empowering No More Drama by the always fabulous Mary J. Blige. Every memory we’ve made dancing to the classic Thunderpuss sound reads like the soundtrack to Days of Our Gay Lives. Just listening to these two sets brings back so many drama-filled moments in my life; some good, some not quite so good. All of these songs have a story to tell. While I don’t think for a minute that Barry and Chris would go back and try to duplicate their previous efforts, I do believe they are so freaking talented that they would incorporate some of the best elements of their work into something bold and new. There’s a rumor going around and no, it’s not about your mama. However, it is about papa, and papa’s got a brand new pig bag (that’s Gucci handbag for those of you that don’t relate to simpler terms). I know I shouldn’t say anything, because nothing has been confirmed, but I’ll tell you anyway. I have it from a very credible source that Barry Harris and Chris Cox, collectively known as Thunderpuss, will be reuniting. Whether for a tour, new album or both is yet to be determined. Regardless, the very thought of these two club music icons hooking up again, makes my groin moist and my mouth drip with gobs of saliva. Other than a hot naked guy waiting with open legs in my bed, not much else can do that for me. Often emulated but never imitated, Thunderpuss is responsible for some of the biggest and I mean BIGGEST club hits in the early part of the millennium. Beach House 2010 v1 | T-Dance Edition

It’s been a long and stressful three months since your last vacation and all you want to do is leave town and head to your favorite beach resort. You’re thinking one week of sun, fun, beaches, cocktails and maybe even get yourself a nice little cabana boy for some late night action. You arrive at your destination and the first thing you want to do is check-in to your hotel, throw your suitcases on the bed and grab your bikini, slip it on and then head out to the beach for some personal chill time. As you lay there on the beach, the beautiful blue ocean suddenly turns black and something large is heading towards shore. You can’t quite tell what it is, but it’s BIG. You stand up to get a better look and in two minutes, a large oil covered whale beaches itself and gasps it’s last bit of life, while looking up at you and asking “why?” Un-phased by the affects of the largest man-made disaster in the history of the world, you head back to the hotel and decide the swimming pool will suffice.
