If the Beatles can have their White Album, then Party Favorz is certainly entitled to the Black and Blue album.  While I am in no way comparing myself to the greatest rock band to ever roam the earth, I do think that the output on this site has reached a certain level of superiority that has yet to be equaled and has achieved its highest worthiness based on song selection, sound, mixing and overall value to my followers.  In short, the next two sets will rock your freaking flip flops off!  YES; I am getting down with my bad self.

Tim Berg starts things off in a magnificent progressive mode.  Bromance has been a huge winner on Beatport’s charts for some time now, but it was the mashup with Amanda Wilson’s The Love You Seek that really got me going on the song.  Beautifully executed with a fantastic production by Avicii, with Amanda’s wonderful vocals spells pure magic!

The summer hit Stereo Love gets a re-work by Digital Dog, which takes the song in a darker direction and I’m delivering the exclusive new release by Robbie Rivera We Live For the Music.  Though I went with Tiesto’s mix, there are plenty of excellent remixes in this package, which has a street date of the 24th.

Travis McCoy’s Billionaire has been a massive Top 40 hit.  It’s just one of those songs that resonates on a basic level.  Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be a billionaire “so fucking bad.”  I don’t think this mix is official however, Mikael and Justin do TM proud bringing it to the dancefloor.

Kylie and Maroon 5 are gimmee’s and I bypassed the official remixes for Adam Lambert’s If I Had You in favor of Trypsin and Billy Waters production, which has been rocking my world since Billy dropped it on me over a month ago.

French DJ/producer Mathieu Bouthier’s New York City is a major personal favorite at the moment.  It’s just cool, sleek, bouncy and you have to listen close enough to realize the girl is singing New York City not cur-i-osity.  Something about this song just puts a smile on my face every time I hear it.

Greg Stainer’s Otherside is another pleasant surprise.  This is an electro re-work of Red Hot Chili Peppers massive hit, with a vocalist that does a dead-on Anthony Kiedis.

Armin Van Buren and Sophie Ellis team up for the guaranteed hit Not Giving Up On Love and Donna Summer returns with To Paris With Love.  DJ DLG squeezes out a massive progressive burner giving Donna a new edge to her music.

Kaskade’s latest single Fire In Your New Shoes features the fabulous Dragonette on vocal duties, making this another winner in his catalog of hits; Robyn’s follow-up to Dancing on My Own; Hang With Me moves in the same 80s electro-pop vein as its predecessor, while  Avicii swoops in and really delivers the goods and takes the song in an entirely new direction; and finally Dirty South and Rudy team up for the summer anthem that’s just now really picking up steam Phazing.  Many decent remixes in this package, but once again Tiesto is the man! 

I know this is a bit early for this post, but I’ve got places to go and people to see tomorrow, so I thought I’d go ahead and drop this on your guys and get it out of the way.  I’ll post the Blue portion of this set on Friday.  Until then…ENJOY!

Unconventional would be the word I would use to describe this final set celebrating summer 2010.  Granted, it could have been that x10, but after listening to the first take a couple of times, I made the decision to edit my work to prevent you folks from peaking into my wack-a-do worldly view of house music LOL. 

Instead, you get the more restrained version, albeit still, oh what’s the  word again? Oh yeah, unconventional.  Really there’s nothing here you haven’t heard before, just not put together like this. 

From the absolute quiet beauty of the house music classic of Summer Fling by K.D. Lang to the equally soothing Subconscious, the latest single from Samantha James and everything in between. 

Oh yeah, the in-between stuff.  Don’t get too used to the smoothness of say “Shame,” (yes, a remake of the Evelyn Champagne King disco classic) because shortly thereafter, it starts moving in a different direction.  I threw on some 70s styled funk, some disco, some classic house, some nudisco and even an oddity.  This is the restrained version, but it’s all good solid fun.  Isn’t that what life is all about; enjoying the finer things in all shapes and sizes? 

I think I’ll stop while I’m ahead.  It’s been a rough week around here and I need to take Michelle Week’s advice and “get my head right.”  I also want to take this opportunity to welcome the newest member of the Party Favorz household.  Say hello to Kirby!

The Ones “Let’s Celebrate”

Unlike the first set in this ode to summer, round two really spanks the mainstream monkey.  Now I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, just trying to set expectations.  In fact, the third and final version is completely different from the first two.  I suppose the goal was to cover all my bases, which I believe I’ve achieved.

Sean Ensign is back with his latest Amazing and shows a more pop side to him with his choice of remixes.  The 7th Heaven production gives the song a modern edge with a hook that drives it home. 

Maroon 5’s Misery, well eh, it’s cute, it’s a pop hit and Cutmore is a hot remixer at the moment.  Twisted Society delivers a house makeover for Sign Your Name, a Terence Trent D’Arby remake of his 80s hit, while Mon a Q returns after a long hiatus with a 70s mellow rock remake of the Ace classic How Long.  Porchia gets an “A” for Here Without You and of course Kylie is in the mix with her latest Get Out of My Way, another 7th Heaven production.

Perhaps the song that’s been drilled into the walls around here is I Will Love Again by DJ Nano & T. Tommy with Vanessa Klein on vocal duty.  Yup, this is a remake of the Lara Fabian 2001 classic club hit recently featured on my Thunderpuss TP2K v2.  This song came out about the time that Rick broke up with a good friend of mine and I picked up the sloppy seconds LOL.  He’s been humming it ever since he heard it on the flash drive in the car.  

Soraya Vivian, who I am quickly falling in love with, delivers the fairytale-ish Where I Stood.  As part of the recent Fierce Angel Summer series, this is one of several excellent house tunes they consistently deliver. 

I dropped the excellent Linda Clifford With You.  You may remember the praises I heaped on it in a recent G-Spot edition.  This song has so many excellent remixes it was a no-brainer for inclusion.

Finally, I shut things down with an update to the early 90s commercial house hit Don’t Lose the Magic.  Once again Soraya Vivian delivers an amazing, if not spot on vocal performance of this Shawn Christopher classic. 

As we near the holiday weekend, the weather outside is already in a cooperative mood.  Cooler evenings have prevailed and spill into mild days (compared to where it had been).  I’m already in an Autumn mood.  I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their work week.  Hang in there, Friday is on its way.  Enjoy!

Todays music icons like Madonna and Lady Gaga owe more of their fame to those that have come before them.  In fact, their image, their outrageous costumes, their flare for fashion, their upfront sexuality, their ability to piss off the religious right are a direct result of the woman that paved the way for the in your face, middle finger, androgynous, show more not less goddess, Grace Jones.  Say thank you ladies, because if it wasn’t for her, would Madonna really have had the balls to have made the SEX book?  It’s hard to say, but Grace laid it all out there first and being the first ten years earlier is what counts.    

Model, singer, actress, poet and diva-deluxe, Grace Jones is the epitome of originality.  Edgy and provocative, Grace pushed the buttons of societal norms and frayed the edges of polite and acceptable behavior.  Fearless in her image and brilliant in her artistry, she surrounded herself with some of the biggest names in the art world.  A fixture at Studio 54 in its heydays and muse to the now deceased Andy Warhol, Grace knew what she wanted and didn’t fuck around to get it. 

Last year, when Grace was touring the states in support of her latest album Hurricane, I received, multiple requests to add her into the Diva Hall of Fame.  I took a look at all the songs and tried to work something out, but it just wasn’t working for me.  For one, I knew there was a 12’’ that existed of her first hit I Need a Man by Tom Moulton, but it has never appeared on any compilation in its entirety.  This song was an absolute must for any Grace Jones compilation.  So, I pushed it off to the side.

Recently, that elusive mix in vinyl appeared on a message board, where I immediately snatched it up.  The quality wasn’t great, but good enough.  At that point, I pulled everything out of storage and started to work.  Frankly, I am so glad I did, because this is one amazing journey through some of the most groundbreaking and sexually charged songs ever to hit the clubs. 

From the classic disco romp of I Need a Man, the sexually explicit Pull Up To the Bumper to the brilliant Williams Blood, all the club hits are here, along with many of the fan favorites (La Vie En Rose; Warm Leatherette).

Grace is an original that will likely never be duplicated, no matter how hard anyone tries.  It is for this reason, that Party Favorz recognizes this woman of many talents and honors her with a more than well-deserved induction into the Diva Hall of Fame.  Ladies and gentlemen…Miss Grace Jones.

With just over a week to go before Labor Day weekend, I thought it was time to start saying goodbye.  That is to the summer of 2010.  Yeah, it’s been a scorcher, and the music even more so. 

Soon, the cooler temperatures will start rolling in and the leaves will begin to turn their usual warm hue of red, orange and yellow, before finally giving away to the harsh temperatures of winter. 

I don’t know about you, but autumn is my favorite time of the year.  Spring would be, but ever since I moved from the salty coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico, I’ve developed the allergies from hell.  In the fall, I don’t have those problems making the moderate climate more enjoyable.

If for any reason you felt depraved by any perceived shortcomings of this year’s Beach House Edition, either real or imagined, I can assure you the next three volumes of this edition more than make up for it. 

No easy breezy on the first two sets as this is all about freaking, funky, discofied house music.  It’s what we love, what we need and definitely what we crave!  From the new remix of an earlier summer hit Heaven and the hands down winner for newest re-work of the all-time gay anthem classic Free to the 7th Heaven ultra funky remix of my favorite tune off of the Scissor Sisters latest album Any Which Way You Can, you’ll be left wanting more.  This I promise you.

So let’s make the most of what’s left of these hot days before we finally have to say adios!  I’ll be back next week with the final two selections just before you embark on your holiday weekend.

Over the years, I have had repeated requests to re-add Diana back into the Diva Hall of Fame.  I had already completed and posted two separate sets of Diana remixes, but was never that happy with either of them.  When your career spans four decades, it’s pretty hard to pull the different styles of dance productions together into one cohesive if not enjoyable set. 

Then comes along the absolutely fab boys from Almighty (Andy and the gang).  They not only updated Diana’s classic disco gems that had already been done a million times before (albeit very poorly in my opinion) but created new dance mixes for classic pop songs that never existed.  For that, I am eternally grateful and am proud to finally present to everyone the definitive Diana Ross Diva Series Collection.  This will be my final take on one of the most dynamic personalities in pop culture, who has been so loved and welcomed by us gay boys like no other, it would take a basement sale at Neiman’s to pull us away.   

The only thing that could drag me back to update this set is if Almighty decided to add Theme from Mahogany, It’s My Turn, Muscles, Swept Away, Missing You and possibly Endless Love to their repertoire.  Being the huge fanatics that they are, I wouldn’t put it past them. 

So here you go folks, for possibly the last time…I present to you the one and ONLY Miss Diana Ross.  ENJOY!

It looks like Sony is finally ready to launch Alexandra Burke in the US.  Rumor has it that Start Without You will likely be the first single.  Check out the super HOT video!

I’m sending up the second half of Madge’s birthday gift to all of you.  You’ll find this mix starts out firmly implanted in the house category before moving into bigger progressive tribal beats. 

You may also notice that I’ve used a lot of Peter Rauhofer and Victor Calderone in these two sets.  That’s because they had so many great unofficial remixes that were never picked up by the label, it’s hard to ignore them. 

In the 80s, Shep Pettibone lead her into the house genre, while Junior was her preferred DJ for the first half of the 90s.  After they had a falling out over the If Madonna Calls track, Victor Calderone and Peter Rauhofer became her pets.  Somewhere during the Reinvention tour, she started paling around with Stuart Price, who also produced that tour and her subsequent disco, non-disco album Confessions on a Dancefloor. 

Then there is Tracy Young, who has been in the mix for a good deal of years as well; but Victor and Peter win hands down for some of the most roof-raising unbelievable productions of her career.  As a result, I thought it was imperative to include several of their amazing remixes that never received an official release. 

BTW, in case you haven’t heard, MUSIC makes the people come together and so does our Madonna.  We worship at the feet of your diamond encrusted Versace’s.  Enjoy!

It’s been two years since my last Madonna mix sets.  The first was a Cool Down set featuring a mixture of 80s and early to mid-90s tracks, while the Melt Down set featured her hits from the mid-90s on up.  Those two sets are still available for download, though a word of caution is in order.  The Melt Down mix is 4 hours+ long and is for the hardcore amongst us.  Nevertheless, it’s well worth it if you can get through it. 

I may go back at some point and re-work the Like a Prayer era through Bedtime Stories, though that would be at a much later date. 

My goal with this and it’s companion set was to tackle versions of her hits that are seldom used and balancing them off of a handful of more familiar mixes and some rarities.  Overall, I think I did a pretty damn good job, but I’ll let you folks decide. 

As a general rule, I tried to keep the timing down to a minimum on both sets, though the second one went over the 80 minute threshold.  As the saying goes, everything in moderation usually tastes much better and doesn’t leave you with a hangover the morning after. 

I just want to wish the ultimate Party Favorz gal a very happy birthday and may all her dreams come true or at least the ones that money can’t buy.  Enjoy!

It’s been nearly three years since the release of Jason Walker’s album Flexible. With two number one Billboard club hits under his belt (Foolish Mind Games, Set It Free) and three more top ten hits (No More, Movin’ On, Reaching), Jason has been busy spreading his wings and working with other well-respected industry artists like Quentin Harris and Lenny Fontana on their own projects.

Fast forward to 2010 and Jason drops his most personal work to date.  He refers to the new album as a hybrid of  “Pop/R&B/Acoustic Soul.”  LIAB showcases an artist that has matured far beyond his contemporaries with a voice that hasn’t come this close to perfection since Simply Red’s Mick Hucknell and a sober George Michael.

With it’s down southern gospel-tinged arrangement and Jason’s powerfully honest vocals,  the opening track I Am Changing sets the stage for an emotional journey through  hope, love, faith and family.  The song is about personal growth, perseverance and evolving to become the man you’re meant to be.  When he sings “this is my time, this is my song” he opens the gates to his soul for all to see.

The lead single Leave It All Behind is an up-tempo electro-pop number that would fit nicely between anything currently on Top 40 radio.  The lyrics “I set my sights on a new life baby, separate from my past mistakes” struck a familiar chord with this reviewer and had the Chad Jack remix on repeat for over a week.

Unless Jason has been falling in and out of love over the past three years, it appears the next four songs deal with a very specific individual.  The heart-wrenching Sad Eyes details the painful dissolution of a relationship, while in Changes he asserts his willingness to support his partner as long as there are ground rules.  This is followed up with his declaration of love in The Song of My Heart and Something’s Broken recognizes the flaws in the relationship and his willingness to make reparations.  The painfully honest lyrics of all four songs are sung with so much conviction, that it would be highly recommended to keep the Kleenex within arms length.

I Love You (The Story of Roberta and Fisher), a song written through the eyes of Jason’s father and dedicated to his parents, is quite possibly the most poignant on LIAB and truly showcases Jason’s keen insights into the human heart.  When he sings “Baby all I can say is that I love as much as I did on our wedding day” I can’t help but think about the 48 years my parents have spent together and all that they have done for their children.  Clearly he maintains an acute appreciation of the enduring love and respect that two people hold for each other over the years.  In short, he just gets it.

The slow-Latin influenced Como Te Llamas (What’s Your Name) and the disco flavored Quicksand round out the album with a live version of Sad Eyes closing things out.

Ultimately, Leave It All Behind is an enduring testament of love and its many facets.  It’s powerful messages speak from the heart catapulting Jason’s unbelievable talents for writing, singing and interpretation to a level rarely seen in music these days.  A+

So I wake up this morning and open my email to find my weekly Masterbeat newsletter has finally arrived.  I start checking out some of the new adds and then head on over to the site for previews.  I quickly notice that their top ten list includes 10 Free Downloads.  So I’m thinking to myself, why wasn’t I told about this?

Moving into the second tierce of the Summer Edition, the beats keep flowing with some of the freshest tunes coming to a circuit event near you.  We start things off with the long distance love story Oceans by Ryan W (no relation to Kristine W).  Once again, Nick Harvey swoops in and delivers a mesmerizing anthem that’s so freaking catchy you can’t help but get “Swept Away” like Diana Ross on a good hair day. 

Party Favorz gal, disco diva and soprano goddess, Carol Hahn delivers the deep throat tail of a dysfunctional relationship (been there, done that) How Many Times, while Rough Girls deliver the beats with all the drama this song can muster.  An equal companion is the Taz Club Mix of Last Day by Jesse B. Williams and Brooke Wilkes.  All I can figure out is that this is their last day to do the do before he or she heads off in the sunset maybe war, who knows, but it works.

In my previous Trance Edition, I stated that there hasn’t been any worthwhile songs in that genre since 2001.  I stand corrected.  Stripped from the movie soundtrack of this summer’s Sex in the City, Armin Van Buuren’s remix of Everything To Lose by Dido is nothing short of brilliant!  With its sweeping production of synths and strings and Dido’s fantastic voice that’s so well-suited for this genre, you immediately become immersed in the songs message of a carefree life in the fast lane before meeting that special person.  It tells a tale of the life that many of us have lived and ultimately put the brakes on, once that one true love comes into our lives.  The combination of Dido and Armin is simply breathtaking.

If you remember Beavis and Butthead the movie and the hot song “I’m Horny” which was a massive worldwide hit for Mousse T in the 90s, you’re in for a treat.  This classic house tune has gotten a sweet progressive update by Offir Malol that’s more than deserving of its inclusion on this set. 

Tod Miner is another one of those producers that’s really staking his territory in clubland these days.  Within the blink of an eye, he effortlessly switches from progressive to tribal and back again.  His latest Lose Your Mind is a serious workout with snippets of the the classic house track Get Down by Paul Johnson.  Folks, we got ourselves a winner!

We’ve got Ralphi doing it on Mariah’s latest Up Out of My Face and Ono’s Wouldnit.  The latter is far superior than her earlier release Give It to Me, which Ralphi was also a part of.

Jose Spinnin returns with his latest Rain.  Accompanied by a slew of mixes, I decided to maintain the true tribal route and used his reconstruction mix.  Trust me, there are equally as stellar mixes that come along with the remix EP.

I totally want to thank Barry Harris for dropping on us his 2005 remake of the 60s pop classic To Sir With Love.  Though I don’t believe for a second this is the original Lulu, the song retains that 60s vibe that was popularized by Amy Winehouse awhile back, just set to a big room beat.  Pulling this off could not have possibly been an easy feet and just goes to prove the brilliance that is Barry Harris.

As predicted, Christina’s label released a ballad as the second single to counter-balance Not Myself Tonight.  Out of the five mid-tempo songs off of her recent album Bionic, You Lost Me is hands down the best of the bunch.  More importantly the Hex Hector mix is pure hexmagic!  I’ll stop short of saying he’s back in it, but his production proves that he’s adapting to the current musical landscape.  With its build-ups and deep valleys, the structure of the song is his typical style, but its the progressive beats he used that makes the song more current and provides dancefloor stamina.  Combining both of these not only gives him relevance in today’s clubs, but makes for a sweeping and majestic showstopper that you’ll no doubt be hearing a lot of in the coming months.  Okay I’ll say it…HEX IS BACK!

After much delay, the Summer Edition has finally landed!  Kicking things off is the Mark Alvarado tribal re-work of the summer underground house smash Stereo Love.  Expect this song to start bubbling up into the mainstream with a fresh new batch of mixes heading your way including the amazing Digital Dog production.

Living Like Love keeps a steady pace until we get to the ultra hot Dirty Talk by Wynter Gordon.  I took the more progressive H&A remix and added a little leftover spice from the previous song to add a pinch of flavor to accommodate this set.  I think everyone will agree, it was just the right touch.

I’ve been all over Pamala Stanley’s Bank of Love since it’s release in June.  With a new Manny Lehman circuit production thrown into the mix, the song is even hotter!  Lyrically smart and vocally sharp, expect to be hearing this song at various events through Labor Day.

The Ralph Rosario take on Figure It Out is a no-brainer that is one of several fantastic mixes accompanying the release, while Dancefloor Emergency could very well be the Party Favorz theme song.  It’s tag line “live, play, walk, work”  sounds awfully familiar.  Then Corey goes on to sing “hey, I’m talkin’ to ya.  Have you had your party today?”  Step through to door, join me out on the floor, it doesn’t matter if you’re straight or gay.”  Hmmm, seems to me that’s very similar to what I say in the About section of this site.  Regardless, it’s all good.  Club music has a universal theme of hand in hand enjoyment and if Party Favorz can claim this song as our anthem, I’m all for it!

Nelly Furtado is back with Fuerte, which is definitely muy caliente!  Cajjmere Wray works this mother out!  Veteran circuit maestro Nick Harvey has really come into his own these days.  With his unofficial re-work of Mary J earlier this year and now two smoking original works featured here, the guy is on a roll.  Pure Love is magical bliss, with fabulous vocals by Halo and a instantaneous hook that will reel you in from start to finish.

Finally, R&B artist Ne-Yo returns with Beautiful Monster, where Tony Moran takes top honors for turning this sucker into a big room monster.  Scotty K takes his turn at the summer anthem California Gurls by Katy Perry and delivers an unmistakable winner that will keep this song fueled for months to come.  Taylor Dayne is back proving once again that she can sing circles, squares and diamonds around the competition.  Facing a Miracle is the official song of the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, Germany.

With everything already lined up and ready to go this week, I’ll be taking at least a week sabbatical from the site.  I’ve clearly been neglecting my betrothed and the gym and it’s probably time I start taking some time for myself.  I still have a Diva Series lined up for later this month, possibly another Chrome Edition (are you ready for the 90s?) and a farewell to summer T-Dance set to cap things off.  After that, I plan on slowing things down, giving everyone a breather in-between releases.

We’ve reached the point in Hydrate that the room is starting to boil over and the floor has become clothing optional.  Moving in a different direction, this is all about underground house music with a smattering of commercial to keep it interesting.

Kicking things into gear we’ve got some big, BIG ROOM numbers like Paul Deighton & Richard Murray’s Don’t Go, the 90s techno classic re-work I Like To Move It 2010 by Reel 2 Real and the Robbie Rivera remix of I Want It Now by Gina Star, which samples Freddie Mercury and Queen, one of the greatest voices in rock history.  Since I don’t think Queen has ever licensed their music for commercial use, this would be a very rare sampling.

Desire by Michael Canitrot with its big Miami house sound is one to watch out for.  Bundled with a bevy of excellent remixes, expect to see a funkier version on the Summer Farewell Edition coming out in late August.  Other outstanding house numbers include the fantastic Walk With Me by Prok & Fitch and My Love by Adam K, who appears to be stepping away from the softer progressive sound that everybody had been aping.

A month ago I had received a promo featuring 90s rap artist Ya Kid K (Technotronic) and I thought to myself, it would make my day if someone updated Pump Up the Jam.  Well, short on the heals of that prayer, the house music gods have answered back with a sweet progressive re-work of this house classic from 1989.

On the commercial tip, Ne-Yo is proving adaptable to current trends with Beautiful Monster and Enrique has an absolute winner with I Like It.  This little “party, fiesta” production will be around for a while.  I had featured the darker Avicii remix on Hot Summer Nights v1 earlier in July and now the Cahill production comes along and puts all the fun and cha cha cha back into the song.

Finally, Pilgrim remakes a remake of a, well remake.  I’m talking about the 2001 worldwide smash Another Chance originally done by the S Man, Roger Sanchez.  For those that spend their time listening to MOR radio, you’ll find the familiar sample lifted from Toto’s early 80s weeper I Won’t Hold You Back.  Not sure that this song needed a remake, but what the heck, it really takes you back.

As the relentless heat just keeps pounding away, I thought this was the perfect time to remind everyone about the need to stay hydrated.  Don’t be fooled by the title of this edition though; This ain’t meant to cool you down, just to make you sweat like you’ve been running a 24 hour sex marathon.  This set packs enough heat to burn 5,000 calories x 2 more = 15,000.  Now that’s a regimen I think we can all get into.

The Disco Boys kick things off with Love Tonight.  All the mixes that accompany this release are good, but the Jay Frog production takes the melody and drops in a nice piano re-work ala David Guetta making for a sweet Miami house summer track.  We got a new remix of Love Tonight by Esmee Denters.  The Doman & Gooding production takes the song and blows it through the ceiling.  Warning, this is not for the faint at heart.

Brazilian dance queen Etna Brasyl joins forces with Stevie H and Patrick Franckfort  of Gibson Bros. fame (Cuba, Ooh What A Life, Que Sera Mi Vida) on the highly infectious summer party anthem Bom Bom and Miss “I’ll Muck You Up” Kaci Battaglia returns with the party anthem Body Shots.  Watch out for that one, it’s a bona fide hit you’ll be hearing a lot in the coming months. 

Australian newcomer Giulietta hits it out of the park with Vertigo, another song you’ll no doubt be hearing a lot of in the coming months.  With lyrics like “we got a problem here, too many rumors in my ear, your gender isn’t clear, why every night you disappear, you can send that vertigo, I’m still gonna catch you though” makes you think she’s delusional.  Sweetie, wake up and smell the coffee.  Your object of affection is on the down low.  You ain’t gonna fix him; MOVE ON!

How could I leave out the biggest hit of the summer?  With official and unofficial mixes a plenty, Katy Perry’s California Gurls will go down in the books as one of the greatest summer songs of all-time.  The Hyper Crush bootleg mix drops Snoops rap and adds their own for a super-charged electro monster that will certainly keep the floor moving.

If you’ve been looking for the and I mean THE summer anthem and haven’t quite found it yet, look no further than The One by Big J.  It’s amazing to me how a song about lost love can make you feel so warm and fuzzy on the inside.  The lyrics alone are worth their price in gold.  “Let us hold each other babe, commit the perfect sin, and if the way of sin is dead, I’ll taste it upon your skin.  Love so right, lips so soft and warm, I could die a thousand deaths, before the day is born.  And though the night be damned, pregnant with my demise, I will seek the perfect death between your given thighs.” Holy crap!  All this set to the perfect uplifting Miami house beat.  This is a Party Favorz WINNER! 

If you weren’t all that taken by the initial set of remixes for 4th of July by Kelis, fret no longer.  The second round definitely swoops in and saves this beautiful song.  DJ DLG keeps the electro production, without losing the flavor of the original making this a sure bet for dancefloor fame.

Finally, Alex Gaudino has already been rising up the charts with another summer anthem I’m In Love.  Listen closely, the vocals by Maxine eerily recall Rihanna. Not that it distracts.  On the contrary, it gives you a clue of what Rhi may very well be capable of, if she were to take on some Miami house.  New comers Monarchy close this set out with the brilliant Love Get Out of My Way.  If their debut album is half as good as this first single, I may have to start paying closer attention to these guys, because the song is that good.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel, volume three ain’t exactly leftovers.  In fact, I’d say this is a full course meal, in and of itself.  Ecuador and The Launch kick things off with crazy-ass hands in the air mayhem.  Between The Launch and Darude’s Sandstorm, it’s difficult to say who spun off the most mashups.  Both have addicting rhythms and both have been sent through the ringer in various incarnations making them an obvious choice as trance classics in an undefined category. 

Perhaps three of the biggest tracks here are Insomnia by Faithless, that has enough hook it could feed a heroin addict’s habit for years, the glorious Cafe Del Mar by Energy 52  and the quiet beauty of one of my all-time personal favorites Gouryella.  Motorcycle’s As the Rush Comes came at the end of a long successful run for trance music and introduced the world to the magnificent Jes, who has been running strong ever since.

Who could forget Days Go By by Dirty Vegas?  Featured in a Mitsubishi car commercial that was played on TV about every station break, the song went on to become an international sensation.  It was cool, hip, happening and oh so sweet.  To this day, the original version of this song still tweaks my diddle. 

About the same time that Chicane was riding high with their operatic Saltwater, Jonathan Peters took a stab at his version of trance and delivered the masterpiece Flower Duet ‘99.  Originally taken from the opera Lakmé, it’s been used to sell a bevy of products (British Airways commercial comes to mind).  Who would have ever thunk to remix it for the dancefloor?  Well, Jonathan did and we’re all the better for it.  Breathtaking!

Long before Delirium (amongst many) started remixing the Canadian chanteuse Sarah McLachlan, piano diva Tori Amos was also getting her fair share of attention.  With a little help from BT, Blue Skies was one of several productions based on Tori’s music that just hit all the right spots.  Expect to hear more from her in future Chrome Editions.

I’m serving up volume two of the Classic Trance series.  Hold on to your shorts, because this one’s got some whoppers in it and I don’t want any of you shitting your pants, because I didn’t warn you.  From the first of two (though there are several more) giant tracks from Faithless (God Is A DJ), the massive Armand Van Buren remix of the iiO classic Rapture, Tiesto’s epic remix of Silence by Delerium and Sarah McLachlan to the smoldering Quincey & Sonance rework of Beautiful Day by U2 and everything crammed between, this is one long euphoric journey through the state of trance. 

Is everyone winding down their week and getting ready for the weekend, because I know I am.  I’ll be serving up the final volume a day early because of other things I got going on.  Which reminds me, if you want these for your weekend enjoyment, I’d suggest you grab them as soon as I post them.  Starting Sunday, Party Favorz WILL be going down for a few days as I gear up to transfer things over to our new host at WordPress.  No need to worry about feeds, email, RSS or iTunes.  Everything should float over nicely, though I’m not usually that lucky, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.  I’ve spent the past week setting everything all up and should be finished by Saturday.  So if you don’t want to miss out, don’t fret like a nelly because once I’m back up and running, you’ll be able grab these at that time.
