Following Boston, we drove to NYC for a couple nights of fun.  I can barely remember taking most of these pictures, but it’s funny to go through them the next day.

Greetings from Boston!  Last Thursday we traveled to Boston for the infamous ‘Paper’ party at Harper’s Ferry.  Torrential downpour kept us wondering what the turnout would be as we were getting ready to head out to the venue.  With bags over our heads and shoes soaking we ran to the venue, and our worries dripped off us as we entered the venue to find a great party brewing.  If they came in the rain, they came to party.  We danced and partied long into the night as the party was carried to
a hotel room afterhours.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.  Wish you were there!

Our last night in Chicago was a Monday, and everyone knows where to go on Monday’s.  Debonair, one of my all-time favorite Chicago clubs, hosts Rehab every Monday night, in a balls-to-the-wall setting packed full of young hip dancing maniacs!  It’s no wonder Paper Magazine donned this party “America’s Best Party.”  Derek Berry and Rick Carrico are the masterminds behind the Monday mayhem, who also DJ together as Team Bayside High alongside resident DJ Skyler.  This week they had out-of-town guest Cor(E)Yography from St. Louis.  If it wasn’t the alcohol making me have a good time, it was definitely the music.  That, or seeing Rick hanging from the ceiling.  Chicago already knows where to go on a Monday, but if you’re visiting the Windy City, do not miss out on “America’s Best Party,” Rehab.

After Rehab we headed over to Green Dolphin Street for Boom Boom Room, the longest running club night in Chicago!

We started our Chicago weekend with a bang at Disappear Here.  A weekly Thursday at Angels & Kings, Disappear Here features the best in New-Indie music.  DJing alongside residents Heaven Malone, Midnight Conspiracy and Angry Panda, were Jason Tyler and Alex Zelenka.  Disappear Here is a great party to check out every Thursday at Angels & Kings.  The photos below feature mainly Disappear Here, but also include Spybar(the official afterhours for Disappear Here) and Stardust at Berlin.

Minneapolis made a very cold yet crazy New Years.   Check out the photos below, featuring Jason Tyler, Jimmy 2 Times, Johnny Fiasco and Angel Alanis ringing in the New Year on the decks.

We went to Flaunt last Thursday in West Palm Beach.  I have one thing to say, “These people know how to party!”  It rained all day, making it hard to believe that it would get this crazy.  The DJ’s were playing some of the best music I’ve heard in a while, even in Miami, with Jason Tyler, Marvelous Kendall, The Commissioner, JJ Contramus, Glowtape and Ozwaldus killing it all night.  When the crowd wasn’t chugging their $1 PBR tall-boys, they were immersed in a sea of dancing, sweating bodies.  This is the most photos I’ve ever put in a post, and while they are fun, if you really want to experience the chaos head to Respectacle Street for Flaunt every Thursday.  It was the best exhibition of shameless mayhem, so go ahead, flaunt!

I had the pleasure of interviewing one of PartyLikeThis’ favorite artist’s Green Velvet. I’m sure you’ve already heard of him, so let’s get right into the Q&A and hopefully you learn a little more about the Legendary DJ/Producer.  Bonus: “Everybody Wants” trailer featuring Kid Sister after the Q&A!!

PartyLikeThis(PLT): You have been in the music scene for a long time and have made a mark with every new turn of dance culture, without “selling out” or changing your sound up too much. Would you agree with my observation and why do you think you have been so successful in life?

Green Velvet(GV): I try to stay true to my roots of Chicago style house music as I remember it from the eighties. I’ve been successful for so long because I truly believe that I can do music as long as my heart desires.

PLT: My gateway into Cajmere/Green Velvet, as I’m sure most people’s was, is “It’s time for the percolator.” I know you have remixed and released it before, but will there be any new remixes for 2010 or beyond? Also, how did the song come about?

GV: There will definitely be some remixes of the ‘Percolator’ coming out in 2010. We have already secured some very interesting guest appearances for that project. The song came about when I was remixing the song ‘Coffee Pot’ in the studio. The owner of the studio said he liked the track and that it sounded like a percolator. You know the rest.

PLT: You have been touring/Djing for a long time and have achieved great heights in this industry. What are a few tips to help the next generation along in their endeavours and dreams of making it in the Industry?

GV: My best advice to making it in the music industry is to believe that you can do it and pray.

PLT: The new track you did with Kid Sister reminds me of if “Skake and Pop” and “Switchboard” had a baby. Very good! What was it like working in the studio with Kid Sister?

GV: Working with Kid Sister was a great experience. I had never done a song with a rapper until ‘Everybody Wants’. Her voice sounds incredible and it works really well with electronic music.

PLT: Any other new collaborations on the way?

GV: I will be working with Santiago & Bushido, Robthreezy, Tommie Sunshine, Felix Da Housecat, De La Soul, Phil Kieran, Japanese Popstars and Tiga in the near future.

PLT: I also know you are a very spiritual man and had a conversion a while back. How do your beliefs fit into your work?

GV: Yes, I put God first in my life with everything I do. I’m not perfect and I don’t have to be. I always try to do my best and learn from mistakes. God is love so I always try to spread love with my work.

PLT: Last but not least. You have many loyal new and old fans. What would be your message to them?

GV: Love is the message.

Here’s a few photos from the beginning of Art Basel in Miami.  We hung out at the “Work of Genius” party/showing at Eden Roc, and ended up at LIV for the Misshapes and Amanda Blank.  Also pictured below are Spencer Product, Peaches and Sophia Lamar.  Both parties were a ton of fun, and the perfect start to Art Basel 09′.
