31 Day Challenge- Day 4

An experience that made you who you are today. There are a lot of experiences that made me who I am today. Losing both my mom and dad, a brother, a sister, a nephew… since I don’t really want to post pictures of them today, I’ll show you a picture of me in drum corps. That was definitely an experience that made me who I am today!

This is a picture of me and my teacher, Jason Kuyper. He managed to be my teacher when I first started drum corps in Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps out of Milwaukee, WI and then 4 years later was my teacher in Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps out of Lexington, KY. I spent two years with Pioneer, 1996 & 1997. I took part of the tour off in 97 when my mom got very ill but I joined back up with the corps when she did a turnaround. I took 1998 off of corps and then I was a “rook-out” in Southwind in 1999. A rook-out means that I was a rookie-my first year with that corps during my age-out year- the last year you are allowed to march drum corps. That is the year you turn 21. It was an interesting experience! I rode in buses across the United States, sleeping in school gymnasiums, showering in school showers (YUCK), and playing a show almost every night.

Off the air:

I will always love Friends. Whenever I’m feeling down I can throw on an episode or two of Friends and just laugh out loud.

Alias was awesome. I actually only caught a few episodes while it was on tv. I watched them all on Netflix.

This is the only thing I currently watch and by currently I mean I caught it this week and hope to catch it going forward.

Forget You

I don’t even watch Glee, but I originally heard this song from my friend Kim after she stumbled upon it not long after it aired on Glee. When I originally heard this song on her blog, I assumed they made it more of a “pop” type song since I’d never heard the original. I heard Cee Lo’s version on the radio and couldn’t believe that there were only a few minor changes. (Obviously the biggest change is removing the “F” word and putting in “Forget” instead. I don’t understand why Cee Lo would make such a poppy song that people would like to listen to on the radio and release it with the “F” word in it. It seems uncalled for.

Anyway, this song has been swimming around my head all day. so I wanted to share it with you.

Less Than Perfect

I love Pink. I think I can finally say I have a favorite musician. I love her vocal range because mine is similar and she sings songs that not only I can sing along with, but I can sing with feelings. My friend Kas had me watch this video tonight. I’ve heard the song on Pandora (thanks Kim!) and the radio but this is my first time watching the video. Just a warning, the lyrics are not safe for work or kids (NSFW/K). Watching the video made me cry.

Would you hold it against me?

There’s been some controversy about this song because the Bellamy Brothers recorded a song called “If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?” Musician’s use familiar hooks and phrases from each other all the time. They even re-record older popular hits. It’s what the music business does. I don’t know why people are all “up in arms” over Britney’s “Hold it Against Me” and Lady Gaga’s newest “Born this way.” They complain that her song sounds too much like Madonna’s “Express Yourself” and “Vogue.” I say, enjoy the music people. While we’re enjoying the music, Britany’s new video for “Hold it Against Me” was revealed last night. I don’t know what it is with her and aliens! I enjoyed watching it, though. I just wish there would be more dancing and less weirdness in music videos nowadays.

I found this website last night and thought he was pretty comical. You don’t want to watch his videos around kids because he talks about “the sex.” Joey is trying to end unwanted animal sex by getting them spayed or neutered.

Animal overpopulation stinks. And it’s happening because not enough cats and dogs are getting spayed or neutered. But I’ve figured out how to put an end to it. I’m just going to stop animals from having sex. Ok.

Social Networking Christmas

I just saw both of these videos posted on Facebook. The first one made me tear up. The second one was funny to me.

My friend Felicia and I were talking about how amazing Joseph was to be able to stand up and still be with Mary even though the baby isn’t his. Do you know any men that would do that?
