LLMs mimic the linguistic outputs of intelligent beings without possessing the evaluative architecture that produces those outputs. They have no way to determine what matters. Formal axiology — the mathematical science of value developed by Robert S. Hartman — provides that architecture: a formalised hierarchy of value (Intrinsic &gt; Extrinsic &gt; Systemic) that constitutes good human judgement.
