The new trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling’s new collaboration Only God Forgives is awesome. The atmosphere is fantastic, and it looks like it will be a spiritual successor to 2011’s Drive.

The film comes out on August 2nd in the UK and July 19th in the US.

Community Effort Orlando, aka CEO is running this coming weekend. (It’s a fighting game tournament)

This is the last US major in the run up to EVO, which is now only 2 weeks away!

Right now everyone is talking about PS4 Vs XBOne. First up, everyone wants to mention how the XBOne must always be online to function. As far as I gather that’s not strictly true, although unfortunately you do have to check into their servers once a day (and/or when you load a new disc, to check DRM)

Don Mattrick at Microsoft didn’t do much to assuage Xbox One required-connection rage in this embarrassing official response at E3 this week:

“Fortunately we have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity, it’s called Xbox 360”

5 things I learned watching Apocalypto

Finally got round to watching Mel Gibson’s 2006 Mayan flick Apocalypto. For anyone who doesn’t know – it’s a subtitled adventure movie (all the dialogue is in Yucatec Maya) supposedly set in the time leading up to the collapse of the Mayan empire.

As things pan out it turns out, it’s not really. Near the end of the film the Spanish conquistadors arrive; and whereas the Mayan civilization collapsed around the 8th-9th century, the invasion actually happened in the 16th.… Continue reading

Marvel Heroes, free to play MMO goes live on Steam

You heard right, Marvel have released a completely free to play action RPG with the help of Gazillion Entertainment.

US comic book writer Brian Bendis (most notably responsible for runs of the Avengers, Daredevil and Ultimate Spiderman comics since 2000) is involved in his role as Marvel Studios consulting team. In a world of microtransactions and paid expansion DLC for “free to play” games, his involvement at least has my interest piqued.… Continue reading

NIN single “Came Back Haunted”

It’s official, the new Nine Inch Nails album will be titled “Hesitation Marks” and is due for release September 3rd this year.

The first single will be “Came Back Haunted” – it’s available to buy from nin.com and iTunes later today, June 6th. I’d say it has more of an classic NIN vibe, but mixed in with their later sound.
