Columbus Kings: Season 1 Trailer

The trailer for the first season of Columbus Kings is finally here!

Columbus Kings: Season 1 will profile the music careers of eight Columbus Hip-Hop artists, including P. Blackk, Copywrite, Vada, Fabrashay A, Hodgie Street, Fly Union, Rashad and J Rawls.

As announced in the trailer, the documentary series will air its first episode on May 30 and will release a new episode every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST for the following seven weeks.

You can see every episode through numerous online outlets including CBusKings.com, PaulMeara.com, Kingsrowe.com and ThePulse-Radio.com.

The Season 1 trailer features Vada (formerly known as L.e for the Uncool) speaking on his home turf, Krumm Park and how it has taught him many life lessons beyond what you hear in his music. The trailer features the song "First Of All," Vada's opening track to his 2011 project The Measure.

The Souls of Liberty is a duo from St. Louis, MO that I've watched grow over the years. I heard some of their early content and even watched them open up for Kendrick Lamar a few months back. The Souls dropped "Steelo 13" recently and it's a bit of a different sound from them, I like it.

Orchids is an instrumental tape that was produced by Troy Cameron and named after his home of Orchids Avenue, Port Antonio. The 16-track project had a couple of co-productions from Tyl3r Davidson and Danny Diaz and features snippets from Miami emcees Too Young and J.$. Jude.

After dropping his debut project "Evol", Memphis representer June took some time to refocus after a loss in the family. Time off for the now Cali resident is never really in the cards. The young grinder seems to always be working one way or another. With dapper production on the track from his brother Teddy Walton and great shots from Nicely Rolled Productions, the visual for "Run The Town" turned out real nice. I first got up on this artist a couple years ago at SXSW and he has done nothing but impress ever since. Check out the visual below and cop the whole project here.

Shad. In my humble opinion is a super emcee, stellar, clever wordplay with a message. He can battle rap you and teach you at the same time. Three years ago the Canadian emcee released his third album “TSOL” which received critical acclaim and brought him a lot of fans. Well now he's getting ready to release his newest effort “Flying Colours”. A couple days ago he put a song called “Peace” on his soundcloud. Album: Ghostface Killah and Apollo Brown- "The Brown Tape"

Now if you're a hip hop head chances are you've heard the Ghostface Killah and Adrian Younge album “12Reasons To Die”. However there is a decent chance that you have not heard Apollo Brown's interpretation of the record called “The BrownTape”. At first the tape was just given to those who pre-ordered the vinyl copy, but now it's available digitally and in CD copies on Bandcamp. Below is my favorite remix from the record which was from “I Declare War”. The tape is fresh and you should cop it should the funds allow it.

Album: Shawn Lov and Jaq- "Grotesque Heads"

I'm going to front I had never heard of Shawn Lo until a couple days back and that was only because his new album “Grotesque Heads” was entirely produced by Scribbling Idiot producer Jaq. They released the album for free a couple days ago and I copped it. Shawn Lo is a straight shooter he rhymes about exactly what he sees. You can also hear the steady growth in Jaq's beatmaking skills and it's definitely nice to hear. Below I posted my favorite track from the album “Cee Inside” take a listen and cop it if you think it's dope.

Ugly Heroes is a new group comprised of talents from both Chicago and Detroit. Ugly Heroes is made up of emcees Verbal Kent (Chicago), Red Pill (Detroit) and producer Apollo Brown (Detroit). After an interview video that previewed a couple tracks Tuesday we got the first single from their self-titled LP. “Graves” is the first track and features Apollo Brown's dark gritty production while Kent and Red Pill wax poetic. The download is for free and the album “Ugly Heroes” comes out May 28^th on Mello Music Group.
