Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Let It Be and the paperback release of The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 27th at First Ave. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. The event is also a benefit for the Twin Cities Music Community Trust and will feature:

I’m in pouty mcpout pout mode because I didn’t get into a writing program I wanted to get into. For some reason whenever I’m all sad and mopey, I turn to this song (that’s only after The Smiths start to annoy me, and frankly, let’s be real that takes roughly 11 minutes).

I think it’s the line, “now whatever makes you happy, I’m pretty sure it isn’t me.” Slays me every.single.time.

About 100 years ago my friend David, the Largehearted Boy sent me an e-mail telling me about Insound’s reissue of “I’ll Be You.” It sounds like something you crazy Westernerds with record players might dig. Yes, I said record player.

You gotta order (or pre-order it’s not coming out until July 17th) quick because they’re only making 1000.

Art Brut’s Ode to the Replacements

Was listening to the Current the other day when this song came on about the Replacements! (Thanks, Swill Merchant.) Never heard of Art Brut before, but any band that discovers and likes the Mats (it’s never too late!) is okay by me. With lines like “This time I really want to believe / Another record with my heart on the sleeve” and “Some of them are almost as old as my parents” it’s pretty amusing…

Plus the Current followed with They Might Be Giants’ “We’re the Replacements” as well as “I Will Dare” for the capper! Nice!

I saw Arthur Phillips, author of the fan-fucking-tastic The Song is You read last night. Y’all should get the book, you’ll love it. It’s about Rock & Roll and fandom and what music means to us.
