A beer lorry has shed it's load on the M20 at Folkestone apparently! I got the train in and missed this, but work is half empty. Presumably with people stopping to fill their boots with beer, but possibly some just held up in the traffic.

Happy 2/3 birthday Harry

Eight months old today.

Some snow here, with more on the way, they're making emergency lift sharing plans at work. In other work news, we're having another desk reshuffle.

Portchester Community Centre to be demolished

And moved to the Precinct. Presumably not brick by brick.

I have happy memories of "Holiday Playtime" there as a child and I think I did judo there too. I remember the O, M, M, I, and Y of the illuminated sign being smashed for ages to spell out a Very Rude Word indeed.

@kmharris76 used to call it the Moonican Centre, she'll love me for remembering that.

Suede tickets. Pricey! I hear there may only be 100 standing tickets, and I think we have some. There were standing tickets on public sale, though long gone now.

That's the theory anyway, can't be bothered to write it up now which means I may never. It was GOOD though. Support from Marcel who seem to have expanded to a six piece now, and Lidl Richard who was a caberet one man rock'n'roll covers thing. Shame we had to run early but really really good to see them again.

Boys night in

 <fg:town>54</fg:town>
 <fg:venue>5803</fg:venue>
 <fg:calendar>1</fg:calendar>

I'm sure there are a lot more of these than there are boys nights out these days... Clare has gone to see Strictly Come Dancing with her mum at the O2 so me and Harry are in alone. He's been grumbling since she's been gone but is in bed now. He had a bit of a temperature but Calpol sorted that out. Bathed him on my own, not sure how clean he got but at least we went through all the rituals. He's not bothered at all by me pouring water over his head now, that's thanks to Water Babies. It was good again yesterday, only four parents and babies in the pool this time. I think there were six or seven when we started but I could only picture one of the missing ones.

Went to Faversham for the day for a change instead of Canterbury. Lots of pubs but not a lot else there that I could see really. Can't make out if it's a nice place or not. We had lunch in Ask, could not find anywhere else suitable.

Watched Lost, didn't think much of it at all. I'm off to Lostpedia to see what I missed.

As well as a funeral can go. Was a cremation actually, didn't know there was a crematorium in Hawkinge. Some very move eulogies.

Buffet after in the Brickfields, a much nicer place than I expected.

Suede Albert Hall gig sold out in 20 minutes apparently

 <fg:town>54</fg:town>
 <fg:venue>2108</fg:venue>
 <fg:calendar>1</fg:calendar>

Hearing that maybe Bernard Butler WILL now be at the Suede gig, hopefully joining the "new" lineup to do a song! Things seem all amicable across all the ex-Suedes so he's likely to be present at the gig, can only hope he joins them on stage, as I don't think I saw them with Bernard. There was that one time, not at band camp but at Phoenix festival that I can't really remember.

In case there is something amazing going on at the gig, then we can't risk having to leave before the end at this one (like we did for last night's brilliant David Devant gig at the 100 Club) so guess I will have to drive.

Can't type much now Harry is on my lap diving for the keyboard. Bath and bed I think!

Mr Varley, from Folkestone, Essex, has branded the blunder 'horrendous', no Daily Mail I label YOU horrendous! Is there really another Folkestone in Essex, or have the made an error that is just about as horrendous as a stanley knife blade in a baby's shoe?

Harry is eight months old and has still never worn a shoe, are we bad parents?

Suede tickets on sale now

Ticketmaster says Suede are playing in Boston in April. Is it a mistake? I heard on the radio this morning mention of people having Teenage Cancer Trust gig tickets already, can this be true?

Harry woke in the night for the first time in aaaages, he has a cold.

Weekend and that

Friday night went to Richard Herring's gig at the Cheesegrater in Folkestone, was good. Quarterhouse doesn't seem to have changed much though I did hear that Bar Vasa had pulled out of the bar / food, all still seems to be functioning normally. Did not seem to be many people there at first but it filled right up before show time. Maybe people were attracted by the new Collings and Herrin show on 6 music. I missed the first one, didn't hear about it until later in the day but will try and get it on iplayer. Nice going out, strange though. Clare's mum sat in for us and Harry was very good. The show was really good, Richard Herring seems to be carrying a bit of holiday weight. I have heard this show in bits in the past, I think I've heard most of it in development during the Collings and Herrin podcasts but good to see the whole thing, and Clare enjoyed it too. The theatre filled up from the back, people expecting a comedian to pick on them, and we were slow going in so got the second row from the front. There's no victimisation though, it's more like a cross between a lecture and a monologue, but funny. Recommended! This was the first date proper of this leg of the tour it seems, see him when he's near you. He's in Fareham on the 19th of March and Portsmouth on the 27th.

Stopped in Wetherspoons on the way home, a mistake we probably won't make again for a while. I really like some Wetherspoons but not that one, but it was on the way, I can get a beer and its quite cheap. There was a huge police raid! About 20 swarmed in, on a fairly vague sounding licensing raid. We thought this was our cue to get back home again but we weren't allowed to leave until it was all over.

Saturday was swimming again, then shopping, did a tour of all the wine suppliers in the area, Karl's, The Goods Shed, Nicolas, and Waitrose. Spent all my profit share I think. I will get my online wine review database up and running at some point...

Also, someone died. Someone I know but you probably don't. Not a surprise, was expected, and is an end to their suffering and discomfort but still. I don't want to be all emo about it but I also don't want this post to say what a good weekend I had personally without any reference. Funeral Friday.

Sounds like we're on for Suede tickets.

From popbitch

This week our thoughts are with Michael Stipe and the REM boys. Imagine, Simon Cowell wants to do a charity cover for Haiti. You've just heard Journey say they turned the Cowell treatment down because he wanted to take out the things they thought made the song good. And then you get this media report, "Cheryl Cole was close to tears as she heard Simon Cowell's Haiti song for the first time."

Does that mean this new charity single is a cover of Everybody Hurts then? I know it's for charity and all, but that doesn't excuse everything. If you want to help, don't buy the record, just give the money you would have spent on the record instead, please.

unicef.org.uk/Donate_Haiti

redcross.o ... earthquake

Hope those are charities that know how to get the aid through, there's a whole lot of corruption about.

Big Boys Breakfast

Harry's moved on from special baby muck breakfast (organic and that, but with added sugar) to regular Weetabix this week. Quite a step I think you'll agree.

Putting the subtitles on when watching BBC Breakfast is funny, we do this so as not to distract Harry too much while he's having his breakfast and then usually leave them on even after we've turned the sound up. Yesterday they called Lifeblood a "racist charity" instead of a thrombosis charity, and there was a cracker this morning that I sadly can't remember now. Give it a go, give yourself a treat.

Dead busy at work, good job this new version of Firefox is not compatible with my existing Twitkit Twitter plugin, so no twitter action for me today.
