If Mike Bloomfield was alive today I think that he would be very interested in Ed Jurdi . If the Electric Flag came forward in time and were around today then they would have had this guy on stage with them I think. As an American Music band as the flag called themselves they were exploring different kinds of American music. ..... The original Foundations were a multi-racial group that consisted of four West Indians, three Caucasian Londoners and a Ceylonese. They were, Clem Curtis (voc), Alan Warner (guitar), Eric Allendale (trom), Peter McBeth (bass), Pat Burke (sax), Mike Elliott (sax), Tony Gomez (organ) and Tim Harris (drums). Arthur Brown (voc) and Raymond "Ramong" Morrison (voc) were members before the band had their first hit or actually became the Foundations. Later members included Colin Young aka Colyn Young (voc) who sang on their last two major hits and a replacement bass player Steve Bingham . The Foundations broke up in the UK at the end of 1970. Since reforming the group the early 1970's Clem Curtis has performed and released records as The Foundations . Colin Young did a similar thing as well but released a record as The New Foundations. In the 1990's, the band's original guitar player Alan Warner got together with Steve Bingham and Colin Young and went on the road as The Foundations as well. As a result of Colin Young dropping out early another singer was taken on. His name was Hubert Montgomery aka Hue Montgomery who is most likely West Indian or a Black Englishman. Sadly the group that has released this album is nothing more than a combination of a Jimmy Buffet tribute band that has decided at some stage to call themselves The Foundations. They are Caucasian and American. Their use of the name the Foundations and portrayal would be akin to an all Caucasian band from England who had never been to the U.S.A, calling themselves The Commodores and singing and performing some hit songs of the Commodores. Sadly with this "I Remember The Foundations" CD, there is no connection to the Foundations here in any shape, field or form what so ever and the music on the CD represents that. I've listened to the songs on the album and it represents a fairly competent middle aged middle of the road band independently releasing mediocre country and pop music. The attempts to cash in on a name that they have never ever had any connection to and with some below the belt sexual lyrics do this group no favors. Acoustic guitar is always a favorite of mine because it doesn't have that metal ring through the song that electric does. I love the warm tone of the music combined with the warm tones of the artist's voice.
