They’re like over-the-knee boots, except they’re for your arms and they don’t make it hard to walk! Kind of neat, right. And I’ve always wondered what you would wear with a short-sleeved heavy coat, many of which seem to be populating fashionable stores for this winter. I mean, if it’s heavy, that means your arms are going to get cold if it’s cold enough outside to wear it, right?

Well these super fierce, industrial-influenced gloves solve that problem, should you have it. And it’s a problem I’d like to have, because I’d like to have a reason to buy a pair of these. If it is, I’ve got to say that I’m simultaneously both excited and a little disappointed. Let’s take a closer look at why, after the jump.

Ok, so, let’s be honest here: the logo embossing is not particularly cute. In fact, it’s pretty cheap-looking. Luckily it’s tonal, which means that it isn’t as noticeable as it could be if it was done in a different color. Memo to L.A.M.B. – obvious logos went out of style in 2005.

Other than that, I’m totally digging it. This little shoulder bag is a perfect day-to-night size, and the electric green trim looks great against the larger expanse of black leather. The zippers work really well as a fairly subtle trim, and this is absolutely a bag I would want to own. I can’t wait to see the rest of this collection – it very well may be the brand’s best yet. Oh my goodness folks, this is a Lauren Merkin clutch. Who would have thought? I’ve become so used to the classic design of Lauren Merkin clutches that I actually did a double take when I came across the Lauren Merkin Snake Fringe Clutch. After I got passed my state of surprise, I found myself liking this clutch.

An exclusive to Shopbop, this metallic snake-embossed leather clutch has tiered fringe throughout the entire bag. The way that the tiered fringe is executed could easily make or break the bag. Since, the fringe is delicate, it totally works. This is a perfect clutch for so many of your different outfits. Pair it with a skirt, dress or jeans and it can work. While some of you might be hoping for the stud trend to end sooner rather than later, I don’t think it is going anywhere anytime soon. Yet, since it has been at the forefront for a bit now, at least designers are starting to realize what works and what looks simply ridiculous. The diamond-shaped studs at the front of the bag along with a metal ring and snap closure at the flap front pocket work well together. From the picture at hand you would never know there is a detachable shoulder strap option, but alas, there is. Per usual, I wouldn’t use the shoulder strap, instead I’d opt for the double rolled handles. Buy through Shopbop for $585.

It’s not that it’s feeling particularly wintery here yet (thanks for the monsoon winds and rain yesterday, Hurricane Ida), but at night, even in the Deep South, there’s still that bit of crispness to the air, isn’t there? I complained earlier this week about the Alexander Wang Suede Coco Duffel in tan, which I still think is an abomination against God, but now a new Coco Duffel has arrived at ShopBop in order to wipe that unpleasantness from my mind completely.

The Alexander Wang Grey Coco Duffel is a beautiful and fitting addition to the collection’s bag line, and my favorite part is that it has silver studs instead of gold. Or maybe my favorite part is that the medium shade of grey allows the Coco’s pebbly, textured leather to shine much better than the black did, which brings out even more of the hip little bag’s natural beauty?

I’m not sure what I like about it better, but I do know that making versions like this will make up for unfortunate iterations past. Buy through ShopBop for $850.

Now, this is just absolutely clever. In fact, coming across the Kate Spade Par Avion Airline Cosmetic Case today was perfect timing because I really need a new cosmetic case. I’ve had the same one for a few years now and it has held up really well. As it gets dirty, I clean it, but I am thinking it is just time to pitch the one I have and replace it with a new one. When it comes to cosmetic cases, I don’t like to go too fancy because, let’s be honest, it is just going to get super dirty super quickly.

This Kate Spade cosmetic case is perfect. First of all, I am not going to drop a bunch of cash on this thus making me wait longer for a new handbag I’ve been drooling over and saving up for. This clear cosmetic bag is designed after an old fashioned mail envelope. You can use this for travel or simply at home to hold some of your make-up. Very cute idea, excellent execution and not a bad price. I might have to replace my current cosmetic case with this one. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $50.

I first thought this bag would be perfect for the beach or pool, but the model shown carrying it is wearing the usual New Yorker outfit of black boots and parka. Surprisingly, the burst of color works very well with the outfit; perhaps Tory is suggesting that we infuse more color into our winter wardrobes? Whatever the case, it’s a playful mix of sophisticated and fun.

But the tote is certainly not for those who’d rather stick to their black and tan leather basics. No, this needs a brave toter, one who’s not afraid of rocking a teal leopard-print in the shape of a heart. And it’s for those of you looking to incorporate animal prints in a bold fashion, or those who really want a taste of the 80s with modern sleekness and bubbly color. So have fun, pair it with your work suit, and see what that plum does for you. Buy through Net-A-Porter for $195.

I guess that means I have to give them points for consistency, but let’s consider all the things for which I intend to subtract points:

First, the extra braided strap with the lobster clasp which connects random points on the bag. Why? Why do that, Juicy Couture? It connects the strap attachment to…a random point on the bag’s opening? The zipper? I’m not sure. A good design doesn’t need extra stuff like that to make it interesting, and that they felt they needed to add it is just further proof of the limited abilities of whomever is designing these bags.

And then there are the extra stuff that Juicy always manages to stick on to their bags – rivets, pieces of leather, a big pocket. The shoulder strapped is overworked and looks like it might not even be that comfortable to carry. Has no one ever told them that less is more? Buy through Saks for $278.

If there’s something that I consistently love, it’s a big metallic clutch. Clutches are reasonably priced and therefore less guilt-inducing to buy, and a metallic clutch in particular is glamorous and versatile in a way that precious few other fashion items are – I would equate them to a really great pair of sexy black patent heels. Mix ‘em, match ‘em, they’re always in style as long as you wear them with confidence. And with a clutch as cute as the MICHAEL Michael Kors Large Clutch, there’s no reason not own your look.

The clutch itself is pretty standard, but the texturized leather, combined with the metallic finish, makes it a bit special. If you’re looking for a great holiday clutch that can match with a variety of colors, something like this would be a great bet. It also comes in a brassy gold color, if that’s more your style, but I prefer the versatility of silver for holiday and New Year’s Eve parties. Buy through Nordstrom for $198.
