How to Change Icon of Your USB Pendrive or Removable Device

"How to give icon to my USB or any other removable drive/device" is a common question among peoples. This means that when you will plug your pen drive to any computer, that computer will show your desired icon beside the device. But the way of changing the icon of your USB device is very easy. So I wrote a basic and easiest way to do this job. No software or tool is required. You just need your icon file, a text editor(Notepad). Lets take the tour :

How to change icon of your removable disk :

1. Before giving custom icon, your USB icon will be default according to your windows theme. My one was as below :

2. Now from menu bar(Menu bar is located at the top left side of your explorer. If you don't see menubar, go to Organize > Layout > Mark Menu bar), go to Tools > Folder Options. Now go to View tab.

3. Find out the option "Hide extension for known file types". If it is checked, then uncheck it. It should look like below.

4. Then click Apply and Ok.
5. Now enter into your USb device. You have to make a new text file here. To do that, right click on your mouse. From right click menu, go to New > New Text document

6. Now rename your text document from "New text document.txt" to "autorun.inf"

rename it into autorun.inf

7. After renaming the autorun.inf file should be look as above.

8. Now right click on autorun.inf file and select edit. Then it will open with notepad. Copy and paste the following code into that notepad and save(repalce existing file when saving) it.

9. Now you have to put an ico file(icon file winch has *.ico extension) in the same place where your autorun.inf file is located. After puting ico file beside the inf file, rename the ico file into rijans.ico . Then your window will look like below.

10. Now you are done. Now to check, open your pen drive from computer then again plug to computer. Look your icon is changed.

Note:
1. You have to use icon file. Not image.
2. You can use any icon you want.
3. If you have any image, then convert that image into ico file with icon creator software.
4. You are commended to use 256*256 ratio icon.
5. Your icon name and icon name in autorun.inf shoul be same. For example, if your icon name is pcsfix.ico then the code should be as

6. If you don't have icon or icon creator tool then download icon samples from vistaicons.com .

7. Your anti-virus may disturb you. Because anti-viruses treat autorun.inf file as virus assistant.

I was several times asked a question by peoples, " How do I Disable my Facebook account from Facebook?". How to Disable a Facebook account :

1. Login to your that Facebook account which you want to remove.

2. At your home page, at the top right side, go to Account > Account Settings.

2. In the account settings page find out the Deactivate link with Deactivate Title. And click on That link.

3.Then you will come across a page like below.

4. In this form you can provide informations for "Reason for leaving" , "Please explain further" and "Email opt out". Selecting cause for reason for leaving is must. Explanation and Email opt out is optional. Mark email opt out if you don't want to leave any activity, invitations and email notification.

5. After that, click on confirm. And you will be prompted for password.

6. After entering password, you may prompted for security code as below.

7. After entering security code, click submit and and your account will be deactivated. Then you will be sent to login page with a yellow message like below.

8. And you are done.

Note : You can reactivate your Facebook account by previous login way.

Pending friend requests on Facebook are actually those requests which are not confirmed yet. Every Facebook user want to know which friend requests are not reached or confirmed. But unfortunately Facebook doesn't support to see the all pending friend requests directly. Yes we could see pending friend friend requests in edit friends in the settings. But now it is unavailable. Many of my friends asked me that, some times they cannot enter into some system folders and files of Windows XP, 7. When they to enter into those folders, a error or security message prompt is shows like "This folder access is denied" or "You cannot access this folder due to security reasons"or "Location is unavailable". Why it happens? Because actually there is an another hidden administrator on your windows system which is called "System Administrator". System administrator always try to protect your windows from being unauthorized access.

Now you have to do a little hack(trick) to access any protected folder or file and take control over it. It's not a crack. You have to make changes to the registry settings to get the administrative power to browse system folders and open protected files.
Editing registry manually is not suitable for all jobs on windows computer. Some times it is risky and also confusing.

So you have to use a specific registry editor reg file to edit registry settings to take access on folders and files.
TakeOwnerShip.reg is the most famous and safe registry editor to take control over protected files and folders.
Now let's take a tour of this job.

1. Now I will try to enter into a protected 'Documents and Settings' folder without taking control or editing registry. So it will show an error message.

2. Download TakeOwnerShip.zip package file from 4Shared.

3. Enter into the zip package and you will see to registry editor file. One is InstallTakeOwnership.reg and another is RemoveTakeOwnership.reg.

4. Now click on InstallTakeOwnership.reg file and you will be prompt with a security message as below.

5. Click on yes to edit registry settings. And ok.

6. Now go to the folder where you want to enter. And right click on the folder.

7. In the right click menu you will see a new entry " Take OwnerShip". Select it.
8. After selecting Take Ownership, you will be prompted with a security message. Select yes to proceed.
9. Now you will see a running windows dos command window as below, which is granting your access.

10. After finishing this automatic dos command prompt, you will have access to enter into that folder.
11. For example, I have now power to enter into 'Documents and Settings ' folder.

12. Do the same for other folders and files to bypass system security check.

How to Reset COMS or BIOS Password if you Forget it.

BIOS(Basic Input & Output) is a system of your computer's motherboard/CPU. It helps your computer to communicate with Operating System and other hardwares. So BIOS needs some temporary memory to store some information. There is a battery in mother board of your computer, called COMS Battery which helps BIOS to remember informations and clock time when your computer is off. All time we see a BIOS popup when we start our computer.

We can protect our BIOS settings by locking it with password. But what will happen if we forget our bios password?

Yes, you have a fine solution if you forget your BIOS password. you have to remove your COMS battery from your mother board and wait for 15 minutes. Then again set it to you mother board. Now you BIOS password is gone.

Now start you computer. Now at the BIOS popup, there will be some message and out of them you will see a line like "Couldn't load BIOS information. Press F2 to enter into BIOS". Now enter into BIOS and press F9 to load default settings. Then press F10. And save settings. Now restart you computer.

Make Portable Linux on USB Drive

All of we know about portable software that can be run without installing. So we don't have to make changes to the computer. But amazing thing is that operating system also can be portable. How to Undo or Cancel Pending Friend Request in Facebook

Some times we make mistakes when adding friends on Facebook. Because we sometimes wrongly add some friends and then think that we should not add them as friend. Then we have to cancel or undo our pending/awaiting friend request so that our friend request will not be sent to him! But this is a great problem for many peoples to delete or undo/cancel a pending a friend request. Do you know that it's very easy?. But because of our carelessness , it became hard.

What you need to do :

1. Just click on the persons name (whom you want to cancel friend request) to go to his profile.
2. On the top of his/her profile, you will see a line "Awating Friend Confirmation" as below..

3. Beside this line, you will see a cross mark like below..

4. Just click on this cross mark and reject you friend request.

5. Thats all. And you are done the process.

Some guys made this process very hard.
To cancel the friend request, they at first block the user then unblock that user!.
Now think how fool they are! So don't do that way.

Run(Boot) Any Operating System Without Restarting Your Computer

Running(booting) one or multiple Operating System (OS) inside your windows or Linux or Mac is a crazy idea. Because we know that only one operating system can be run at a time. But modern computers and softwares made it possible to run multiple OSs at the same time without harming your existing operating system. For example you can run/boot Ubuntu Linux or Mac OS X inside windows(when windows is running) without restarting your PC and boot/run Windows or Mac OS X when Linux is running.

All you need to do, you need to install a Program named "Virtual Box" on your system. Virtual Box is developed by Oracle Corporation as part of its family of virtualization products. It is installed on an existing host operating system; within this application, additional guest operating systems, each known as a Guest OS, can be loaded and run, each with its own virtual environment. Virtual box is available able for all Operating Systems like Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris.

How to Use Virtual Box:
(When I was writing this post, I was on Linux Mint. So I tried another OS such as Windows XP to run with Virtual Box in Linux Mint)
1. Download virtual box for your running system.

2. Install it on Your System. And run it.

3. Click on New. Then It popup an window like below.

4. Click Next. Then your window will be shown as below.

type the name of OS you want to run on virtual box

5. Write the name of your operating system you want to use. You can also select your operating system manually. I selected Windows XP.

6. Click next and it will want Base Memory Size. Try to use greater base memory from recommended size. Then click next.

7. Use default settings of creating new hard disk. And click next. And next.

8. Use Dynamic Expanding Storage for Hard Disk Storage Drive. Then next.

9. Now you will see an windows like below.

10. Click on the folder icon at the right side to select the place where you want to put/save virtual hard disk. Select 5 to 10 GB size for virtual hard disk. Click next. And finish. Then finish.
11. Now your window is probably as below.

12. Now click on start to to run your desired OS as portable on this virtual machine.
13. An window like below will pop up. Select next. Then it will as below.

14. Click on the folder icon at the right side to select the iso file of your operating system which you want to boot in this virtual machine. Then click next and finish.

15. Now the operating system(I used XP) will start to load. And it should be run as real.

16. Use "Ctrl" key to control your mouse direction between you running and virtual system.
16. If you see any error message, then either you have low memory or your iso file is corrupted. Check MD5SUM code of your iso file to check it bad or right.

How to Remove a Programs Entry(Name) From "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Feature"

In windows, in the control panel there is a program which is used to manage your installed programs on your computer. With this we can view or remove applications from compute. In windows XP, it is called "Add or Remove Programs" and in windows 7 it is called "Programs and Features". The softwares which are installed manually on windows are listed in it. If we remove or uninstall any program from computer, then their names are removed from this application manager.

1. Some times after removing a program, the name(entry) of the program will exist. Its a problem of registry. Because though you removed the program, its name is left in registry.

2. We may have to manually remove the name of any installed program from "add or remove programs" without uninstalling the program. Because you may wish to hide its name. So this term is, "How to hide any software or program name from 'add or remove programs' without uninstalling or removing it from computer"

Now if you want to do any of above two terms, you have to edit registry. So far I discussed that installed program names are stored on registry. Editing the windows registry settings is confusing, risky and hard to remember. So you have to use a program called "addremovecleaner.exe" which will list you the installed softwares on your systm. And you can remove(hide)/clean up those names by using it. It actually edits registry.

5. Now write the subject and message in message field which you want to send automatically to any incoming mail (when any person sends you mail). Don't confuse with "Ends" field. Just leave it.

Now a days a great problem in our windows computers become so slow day by day. It's a very irritating when we feel that our computer is slow and we cannot working on our computer properly. Because every man hates slow PC. So I wrote some tips and ways to make your windows( XP, 7 ) computer running more faster.

There are many reasons why your computer becomes slow. Let's try to solve them.

1. Never Install Useless Programs :
We have to install different kinds of softwares, add-ons on our computer. But try to install only important softwares permanently. When you install an application on your computer for trial to see what is it and how it works, if you see it is no more needed, then just uninstall it.

2. Make Refresh the desktop after closing any program. It will make faster your system because it removes any unused files from the RAM.

3. Let Your Desktop to be Clean:
Never fill up the desktop with different kinds of folders, files and shortcuts. Because these will increase the loading time of your desktop. Thus your computer will become slow.

4. Leave a Big Space in Your C drive :
C drive is the location where windows is installed. When you run your computer, windows and games you computer uses C drive for virtual memory and some programs also c drive for temporary memory. So if you don't leave space in your c drive, your computer will become slow.

5. Always Let Your Recycle Bin to be Empty :
Always make your recycle bin clean. Because recycle bin reserves your temporary deleted files.

6. Defragment Your HardDisk:
Defragment your hard-disk on a regular basis. I will suggest you to do it once a month. Defragment make your hard-drive to get more free space by removing unnecessary files. It will also rearrange your file system and make a healthy environment for files.

7. Try to Use Less System Tray icons :
Reduce the number of system tray icons at the right bottom side of your computer. System tray icons are quick indicator of which big programs are running at the background of your computer. But tray icons also reduce of your computers speed! When you are installing any program, disable the option of having tray icon if you don't feel it is necessary for you.

8. Always Delete Temporary Files from Your System :
The concept of "Temporary Files" is very old. Temporary files are created with every Operating System and maximum softwares. You should not leave temporary files when they are not necessary. But it is confusing from where and which temporary files should be deleted. So try to use a better software to do it. Read about a best and free temporary files remover to speed up your computer.

9. Be patient when you starting your compute. Let your PC to boot up completely before open any application. Otherwise you may have face some problems.

10. Disable auto-run feature of removable devices.

11. Use an Anti-Virus :

12. Reduce the Habit of using Themes :
Themes play a grate rule to make up your PC slow. Always try to use simple themes. Complex and unofficial themes even may steal your privacy.

13. Disable the thumbnail preview of image and other files :
To do that, Double Click on ” Computer ” >click on the “Organize” drop-down menu and select the “Folder and Search options”

14. Reduce the Number of Start up Applications:

Start up applications are auto start applications which automatically loads during windows start. To manage startup you have to use a startup tool. Windows has built-in startup tool. To access it, Type ” msconfig ” in the “RUN” option from start menu press [Enter] to open up the System Configuration Utility.

2. Now navigate to the “Start Up” tab.
3. Untick the Entries which are not needed.

15. Always Clean Your Registry:

3. Disable Unwanted Visual Effects in windows 7 to speed up :

1. For this right click on ” Computer” icon on desktop and select “Properties” from the right click menu.

3. Select the “Advanced” tab from it. Then Under ” Performance ” click ” Settings “. Choose ” Custom: ” Options From it.

1. Right Click on your Desktop and select ” Personalize ” click the Window Color Tab.
2. Uncheck the Box saying ” Enable Transparency ” and press OK.

6. Use Ready Boost service to get extra speed :
Ready boost is a feature where you can use your usb pen-drive as a virtual ram to speedup your windows 7.
1. Insert your USB drive.(equal or greater than 4GB).
2. Right click on USB drive, go to properties and select ready boost. Now tick on " use the device" check box.
3. You can configure how much memory you want to use.

7. Turn Off Unused features in Windows 7 :

1. Go control panel and open " Programs and Features ".
2. Click the ” Turn Windows features on or off ” from the left pane.
3. Now uncheck all the Feature that you don’t use in Windows 7 and restart the system for the changes to take effect.

1. Click the ” Power Options ” in the Control panel.
2. Click the down arrow showing ” Change Power Plans ” to see the ” High Performance ” power plan

4. You may go for the advanced settings for further tweaking if you want.

4. You can keep some of your favorite sounds turned on if you want, but sounds played during the Windows 7 start up, shutdown, Logon, log off, start navigation etc should be set to none if you want some real speed boost.

Run Safari Web Browser on Linux
