Collecta – Real Time Search Engine For News, Photos, Comments and Updates

Collecta is a new real time search engine. It can be used to search for news, Stories, photos or images, updates and even comments from various sources. It gives the real time search results about a particular topic which helps you to keep up with the latest information. It brings in the results from news sites, popular blogs and social media, so the results will always have fresh content.

Collecta has a simple interface with a search field. It shows the current hot trend below the search box. After you type in your search term and press now, it will show an interface with 3 columns. This makes it easy to use.

The first column contains search options along with your latest searches. The second column shows all the results and you can even stop the search results if you find what you are looking for, or else it will go on searching. The third column will show the detailed view of the results.

It offers you to search in various locations. The different options where you can search are News, Articles and Stories, Blog posts, Comments on blog posts, Status updates from twitter, Jaiku, Identica, and photos from Flickr. Thus resulting in a wide variety of results.

More number of services may be added soon. Collecta may be named like that as it Collects All the results from various sources and makes it easy to find what we are looking for.

USB storage drives are very practical as you can simply attach them and there’s additional storage space for your data. However, network access to shared directories on a USB drive does not always work. If multiple USB hard drives are attached to one computer, the Windows server service SRV frequently refuses access to shared folders and files with the message “Access to resources not possible. Sufficient server memory not available”.

Insufficient memory set through a parameter called “IRPStackSize” in the “lanmanserver” system service responsible for the sharing is at fault. Simply set a larger value using the registry. For this,

First start the Registry Editor and navigate to the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters”.
If this is not available, create the “IRPStackSize” entry through “Edit > New > DWORD value”.
Double-click the new entry and enter the hexadecimal value “32” in the following dialog. It corresponds to the decimal number 50. You can thus increase the reserve for additional network shares.
The original value of “0×4” is depending on the hardware configuration of the computer is possibly not high enough, so that the SRV service cannot properly manage the shared directories on some of the physical drives.

When adding text boxes, Microsoft Word normally creates these with a frame and in the Times New Roman font. These default settings might not be suitable for your tasks at all. A solution for the default frame is found quickly and using this you can change the Text Box setting to removing frame and define another font. The font is however set by the “Standard” format template. When you modify this general format template, you can also adjust the font in text fields; this can otherwise be dome through “AutoText”.

GETTING RID OF THE FRAME:

In order to remove the frame,

First insert a text box into any document.
Then right-click the frame and select the “Format text box” context command.
In the “Colors and lines” tab, search the “Color” field in the “Line” section.
Change the setting to “No line”.
Now make the other format changes, if any, which you want to use as default and confirm the dialog with “OK”.
Now right-click the frame of the text field again and select “Set Auto Form default”.

DEFINING ANOTHER FONT:

In order to do this,

Create an AutoText entry.
Format the font in the text field and mark the frame of the field, so that the cursor is not visible inside.
Then click “Insert > AutoText > New”, enter any name, Ex: “Text box 1” and click “OK”.
In the future, insert the predefined text field using the “Insert > AutoText” menu command or type its name in the text and then press [F3].

While installing programs, many more components are often installed which you do not want in the first place. It is annoying if, for instance, an endless stream of Startup entries slows down your system. Deactivating these entries is irritating and time consuming. Instead of manually putting the Startup entries out of action, you can prevent annoying programs from installing themselves there using the free program called “Startup Monitor”.

This tool notifies you when any program registers itself to run at system startup. It prevents annoying programs from registering themselves behind your back. Download and Install it.

After the installation and a system restart, it automatically remains active in the background and monitors relevant system settings. As soon as an installation routine tries to create a startup entry, the tool responds with a confirmation dialog. The entry is made only if you authorize the change by clicking “Yes”, otherwise, it is rejected, Last but not least, it minimizes the risk of corrupt programs such as viruses, worms or Trojans secretly settling in your system.

A practical extension of this support program is the “Startup Control Panel”, which you can find here. This tool displays the Startup folders and registry key in separate tabs. You can easily deactivate individual entries or delete them through the context menu using the assigned checkboxes. The option of moving Startup entries is also interesting. If for instance, you want to make an entry available for all users of the computer, simply move it into the folder for common Auto Starts. For this, find the respective entry, right click it and select the “Send To > Start up (common)” context command.

NOTE: Although the tool also works under Vista with administrator rights, it is actually unnecessary here. This Microsoft operating system has a powerful Startup Manager on board, which can be found under “System > Change Auto Start Programs”.
