Due to network failure, one of the conversion servers did not get the documents that were submitted by some of you. We have now fixed the problem. Unfortunately, all the documents that were submitted during the problem were automatically deleted and weren't converted to PDF. So please resubmit your document.

Some of you may remember that our first free service was not document to PDF conversion, but conversion of PDF to other formats. The good news is that we are currently working on bringing that service back.

[Web2PDF Online] Term #7 Explained

There was a concern that term #7 in our Terms-of-Use sounds like we retain the copyright for any webpage converted to pdf using our service. What it actually means is that we have a royalty-free license (i.e., permission) from the author of the uploaded content for that uploaded content to be on our server(s), both in the uploaded format as well as the converted format. The author(s) of the document do not relinquish any copyrights to us.

The revised term is as follow:

7. License of Your Content to Provider. By uploading your content to the Web Site for processing into PDF format, you are granting Provider a royalty-free license for the uploaded content to be processed into PDF format and for that uploaded content to be present on the Web Site server(s) after it has been processed into and exists in PDF format for retrieval by users.

We've been spending a good part of last month stress testing our new free service, SavePageAsPDF, with thousands of webpage conversion requests. It's been holding up quite well and everyone here's happy with it's performance.

What is SavePageAsPDF?
SavePageAsPDF is a free service for your websites that allows your visitors to quickly save useful information in your web or blog site to PDF files. It also keeps track of all the PDF conversion activities in your site, providing you with a metric to measure the importance of your site contents.

"Save Page As PDF" Button

We currently are testing PDF Online's latest feature: "Save Page As PDF." The service will allow you, as a website owner, to quickly provide HTML to PDF conversion on some or all of your web pages.

When your visitors click on the "Save As PDF" button, our server will automatically render the page into PDF and push it directly to them.

All you need to do is to insert a couple of line of Javascript code into that web page.

You can see this feature in action on PDF Online homepage. Bear in mind that we are still working on this feature, so the PDF output may not look optimal. Let us know what you think!

Problem with one of our servers

Nightmare before Thanksgiving

My buddy, the Email Server, decided to stop working sometime during the Thanksgiving holiday. All the PDF I've converted got stuck in the queue... all 30,000 of them. My boss found that out on Monday. Now all of them have been delivered, albeit a couple of days late :)

Create PDF using 100% JavaScript Code

BCL's PDF Heads came up with a way to create PDF using 100% Javascript code.With easyPDF JavaScript, you can dynamically:

Draw Text.
The attributes needed are: Start Point (x,y), the text, font name, font size, font style (plain, bold, italic, underlined), and color. BCL easyPDF JavaScript will also need all the information from GetTextMetrics( ) function from Windows API.
Draw Rectangle.
The attributes needed are: Rectangle, Foreground Color, Background Color, and Pattern.
Draw Polygon.
The attributes needed are: List of Points (x,y), foreground color, background color, pattern.
Draw Line.
The attributes needed are: Starting Point (x,y), Stopping Point, Foreground Color.
Draw Bitmap.
The attributes needed are: Rectangle, the Data (binary), the Size, the Type (JPG).
