Each event has forced me to confirm or deny my priorities with God, family, friends, work, and entertainment. It is often a work event that seeks to put itself above the other important areas. For a short time, a higher priority on work actually brings higher self-confidence because of the kudos from those to whom I report. However, after time the other areas begin to erode. Work can be an addiction - an escape from real life. As Jesus said, if we hang onto our life tightly, we will lose it, but if we give it up for God (and as a result, family and friends - God's #1 priority for us is loving people) we will find it. Whenever I'm at one of these crossroads, I like to watch the move "Regarding Henry" with Harrison Ford. It is a powerful reminder of what is important. I have been "Henry" too many times.

- AtPeace
