Location of May 22 Board Meeting Changed

The location of the meeting of the Board of Directors scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd, 7 PM, at Pampered Pet Health Center has been changed to the Torch restaurant, 2113 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda, FL. On this date, May 22nd, the Torch is giving a percentage of its earnings to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County.

In addition to Peace River Dog Fanciers supporting our local shelter, your Board members do, too, when they can individually. Since the Torch’s donation night fell on the same night as our scheduled Board meeting, in an effort to support our local shelter and have our Board meeting, your Directors decided to multi-task and meet and have dinner together.

The dining expense is being paid by your Directors individually in further support of AWL.

Register Now for Obedience Classes Starting May 30

Obedience classes are filling up fast.

Be sure to get your paperwork and payment in for obedience classes starting May 30 in Punta Gorda.

Classes are filling up quickly. The only way to be sure your spot is reserved is by getting your registration paperwork and payment to us in advance. There are still spaces available for CGC, Intermediate Obedience, Novice, and Pawsitively Fur Fun.

If you miss this session, the next available six-week sessions start July 2 in Port Charlotte and July 25 in Punta Gorda.

PRDF Welcomes New Members

Peace River Dog Fanciers extends a warm welcome to our newest members, Jerry Kecken and Meredith Shattuck-Kecken, who were accepted into our membership at the Membership Meeting on May 10.

Jerry and Meredith are the mom and dad of Pippi Longstocking, a Carolina Dog (also known as an American Dingo). Meredith and Pippi have completed Beginning Obedience/Manners, CGC, and Equipment Fun.

Mat Cleaning & Ice Cream

A special thanks to everyone who brought brooms, dustpans and — yes — shop vacs last Wednesday to help with cleaning the mats.

With so many people helping, the cleaning went quickly after classes ended. We then adjourned to the Baskin Robbins for ice cream, courtesy of PRDF in appreciation for the help.

We’re going to sweep the mats, 23 of them, after classes at 8:20 pm. then, PRDF is taking us to Baskin Robbins for our ice cream reward!

Welcome to Our Newest Members

Peace River Dog Fanciers extends a warm welcome to Tim and Jeanette Higgins, who were accepted into our membership at the March 12, 2012, meeting.

Tim and Jeanette are the mom and dad of Tippy and Luke. Luke, a Maltese, has completed the CGC/Intermediate Obedience class, and will be in the new Pawsitively Fur Fun class in April. Tippy, a Bichon Poo mix, has attended S.T.A.R. Puppy, Beginning Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, and CGC.
