If you’re just starting out to setup your home theater, certain task becomes overwhelming, and at the end of the day, seems like nothing “right” comes out from your persistence. Then, the fire alarm went off, smoke filled the room and guess where it’s coming from? A faulty wiring setup is to blame.

It takes a lot of understanding on how these devices communicate with each other, especially when hooking up your newly purchased home theater system. There are proper ways in how to setup your television or loudspeakers - from system signals to audio placements.

And I wouldn’t dare setup the system myself, while I knew a Home Theater San Diego base company called Southwest Audio Visual (SWAV) can do the right job for me. SWAV has network of professionals who can design and implement my home theater. They can even setup my iPod to play music throughout my entire home. Not only that, interior wiring will be installed on my speakers – I’m not getting that faulty wiring!

I’ll rather pay someone who can setup my system quickly and who knows their job well.
My money is well spent at SWAV, and I’m not getting that smokey room either.

New iMedia Desktop PC

Another cool thing has come out at Packard Bell. A new iMedia Acer desktop PC refreshes with its new compact and fashionable design.

The desktop has a “sleek glossy black chassis with matt accents and soft curves highlighted by a glowing blue power on/off button.”

This new imedia line is powered by Intel’s Core 2 Quad or AMD’s Phenom II X4 quad core processor, up to 8GB RAM and either Intel’s integrated graphics or NVIDIA GeForce graphics up to GT230 with 1.5GB video memory. The desktop can be equipped with up to 1TB hard drive and optional Blu-ray combo drive. The PC offer an eSATA and a HDMI connectors.

Consumers can also add the optional DVB-T TV tuner with remote and WiFi connectivity.

Freepad X1200 Netbook

What MacBook netbook will I find not really that impressive compared to MacBook Air? And why would I post something I’m not fond of?...because it comes with Black and White. :-)

The Freepad X1200, powered by Atom and introduces by a Chinese company GuoBang, measures about 30mm x 21mm x 24mm. Even though it is Mac, it has an Intel Atom N270 1.6 Ghz processor having 1GR of Ram and 120GB or 160 GB hard drive.

Another impressive feature is the graphic card, it uses the GMA950 but this isn’t quite a punch for gamers out there (StarCraft II will surely hang). It has a 12.1-inch 1366×768 LCD display and a 1.3 Megapixel webcam. Also supports WiFi 802.11b/g and a USB Ethernet modem included.

Let me know if anyone of you had managed to bought one of this or even reviewed about it, I’ll update the not so impressive post!

If you want that USB drive having a whooping 16GB storage, you better scratch your headfirst and solve this complicated puzzle-like USB cube before plugging in your pc.

Italy-based designers Toshi Satoji and Katsuya Masaki created this USB, each black cube is constructed with a unique puzzle pattern and carved from a single block of aluminum (how I wish it was alamantium!).

To find the USB key, which is located in the center, you need to completely disassemble the cube. The puzzle has only five rotatable pieces, making the number of possible combination easier to solve.

The device's price tag is 1,000,000 yen - equivalent to $10,442!

You think the coolest way to play music is through your iPhone? Better think again!
A self-running record player shaped in the form of a red sphere will soon get its place in the music scene. Ok, futuristic or fictional as it may seems but hey, if you like to play classical drama music then pump that energy high cause music hovering in the air.

A Korean designer rhea jeong has sent an images of her 'void' LP player. The record player uses a carrier and dock outfitted with a magnetic and auto-calibrating control
system that carries the LP into thin air as it is playing music. The red sphere contains a needle, amplifier and speaker, spins around the record, bringing the music to life.

I know levitation of object is only possible (???) in paramagnetic ones and if this gadget gets its way then let me spin my head up high with it.

Measure your Download Speeds with Page Speed

Web developers and web designers’ alike love to fancy out how fast their internet connection, and so the faster the speed is – the faster the work done. But relying on our sole broadband speed connection doesn’t fit the job for our clients end, who and most don’t have such broadband connections.

How do we measure up our download speed in order for both developer and clients have the same benefit of the doubt?

Use Google’s Page Speed Tool, the latest tool for measuring how well optimized your pages are and where there’s any room for improvement. Yup, this tool seems like a competition for Yahoo's YSlow.

Anyways, to use Page Speed, ironically, its only available for FireFox with Firebug add-on installed, it’s quick and easy after you have downloaded and installed Page Speed.

Look at the speed test of my site (image below), it provides me with some suggestions on what I could improve on in an easy-to-analyze fashion.

Hoping web developers and web designers’ are interested, Google also offers a Web Performance Best Practices guide that explains how and why Page Speed makes certain recommendations.

GPS Device in Shoes for Alzheimer patients

A GPS device in shoes is now into development specifically for Alzheimer patients. The GPS device is built-in into shoes that could track down seniors who suffer from Alzheimer's disease. Patients sometimes called “Wanderers”, as they keep wandering around in dangerous places such as the bus stop that could lead into a car accident.

Question is…”Isn’t Alzheimer patients forget to wear their shoes?”

An assistant professor at George Mason University, Andrew Carle, who served as an advisor on the project, said Alzheimer's victims tend to remove unfamiliar objects placed on them but getting dressed is one of the last types of memory they retain.

The shoes are being developed by GTX Corp., which makes miniaturized Global Positioning Satellite tracking and location-transmitting technology, and Aetrex Worldwide, a footwear manufacturer.

The technology is so proficient that it can provide the location of the individual wearing the shoes within 9m (30 feet), anywhere on the planet!

Once a wanderer crossed a programmed boundary then an alert is sent to a cell phone, home or office computer.

The device will help authorized family members, friends, or caretakers reduce their stress and anguish by enabling them to locate their loved ones instantly with the click of a mouse.
