So many, however, had blinders over their eyes. They could only see what was directly in front of them and even that was seen through filters colored by man made laws or the needs of their belly.

It was as though Jesus stood before them pointing toward the glory of His Father’s kingdom and what they saw was platters piled with food, whole and                                                                 healthy bodies and freedom from their oppressors.

People haven’t changed much since them, have they? Jesus, by the Holy Spirit, is pointing to the kingdom. ” Seek the kingdom. The kingdom is right here.” We, His body, hear, and we see it in the Word, but so many of us have blinders over our eyes, seeing only what is directly in front of us, and through filters colored by “church” made laws and the needs of their lives.

But seek (aim at and strive after) first His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. (Matt. 6:33 Amp)

Matthew 6:33, the version I’ve posted above makes it clear, I believe, what Jesus was asking of us.

• Do it first, before anything else.
  • Aim — focused attention on the kingdom
  • Strive — exert strenuous effort
• First, daily, seek the kingdom
  • His way — how He does things
  • His right — how He is right
• Everything else will fall into place

He promises to see that everything we need, our health, our finances, and our safety will be taken care of … if we seek for the kingdom of God, FIRST.

So, what do we seek, first?  I believe that Jesus, our King, wants our lives to be whole, nothing missing, nothing broken, but this is found in the kingdom of God – His way of doing and being right. If we aren’t doing things His way or obeying His Word, how should we expect everything we need to be given.  In His love, His blessings come from time to time, but they are merely, ‘…the mercy drops falling around us‘ when the showers of blessing are found in the kingdom.

Seek Him – First and above all else!
