Three things we’d like to share with our favorite Peonistas this week…

1. Woo hoo, yay, woot! Consignor and customer Kim Rogala won our “beat the heat” contest. Kim gets a $25 gift certificate to Peonies. Congrats, Kim, on a very funny answer, posted on our Facebook page.

Lucky for us, the air conditioner works at Peonies —and so the 97° sun-storm didn’t keep us from putting out gobs of new stuff (small sampling below). There’s lots to keep you cool and sooooo much Lilly Pulitzer we just don’t know what to do with it all.

Hello, Peonistas! This week, in celebration of Peonies’ birthday of 1 year, add a zero and take 10% off anything in the shop, today through Saturday. A nice little unexpected bonus, right? That applies to everything in the store, everything.

Last night as we were consigning new items, including some vintage Lilly that made us want to have an old fashioned picnic, we talked about how important it is to make time for yourself every single day — to refresh and rejuvenate. So today, take a little time for you even if it’s just a few minutes. Notice your garden (or not, whichever makes you feel better!), take a walk, call a friend, get a mani/pedi, sip a glass of lemonade or mix up a margarita. Hard to believe, but it was just a year ago that we first opened Peonies (this photo was taken the day we set up the garment racks, and that is another story—ay ay ay). We want to pause today to thank each and every one of you. It is only with your support that our little business is still in business and it’s you, our customers and consignors…peonistas…who make it all worthwhile. There is nothing we love more than helping you find great finds and helping you find a new home for your special stuff.

This week, our namesake is literally blooming everywhere around the Connecticut shoreline. Each time you see a beautiful peony, please think of us and the beautiful blooms we have waiting here for you each and every week. If you like what we’re all about, please don’t keep us a secret.

We are in total, absolute, unequivocal, unrequited love with black and white. We love the classic combo. For warmer weather, we pair little black tops with white jeans or capris and a great necklace (loving wearing multiple long strands this year). We like casual white T’s with beautiful black skirts. And we love black and white with a bold splash of color… Chanel red toes or Kate Spade mules (how divine are those cute round heels? Size 7 ladies: come running).

The irony is that though we love black and white, few decisions in life are black and white, right? We admit we don’t know much, but we do know one thing for absolutely sure: once you shop at Peonies and find your first amazing find, it becomes awfully hard to go back to paying full retail. Sure, it’s about the money, but it’s more about the thrill of that find. You know? Did that sound too salesy? We hope not, we believe it.

Come say hi this week. We have lots of great stuff. Lots of color, too.

We love it when sisters shop together (because we love shopping with our sisters!) and so we were really happy to have Katie and Becca Hill come into Peonies this past weekend. Originally from Ivoryton, the ‘twins’ were on a mission for fun. And what fun we had.

Good morning, dear Peonistas. YAY for the sunshine, right? Today, we first want to share with you some flowers from our gardens. The first irises, woo hoo! Oh, do we love this time of year. Glorious!

We are seeing ‘new blooms’ here at Peonies every single day (thanks to all of our consignors for cleaning their closets, and keep up the great work). We just have a ball seeing all of the new stuff, and we hope you do, too. Summer tops, please!

Hello Peonistas! Last year we had such last year when we opened for “tops” (cute stuff to pair wear with capris, jeans and skirts) so please bring in the tops you no longer wear and make some money from them. As with all consignments, please leave each item on a separate hanger, floor-ready (cleaned, pressed, etc). You can drop off your items any time we’re open. No appointments needed.
