It's been awhile...

My last post had been 3 months ago and I have to say a lot of things have changed. America hasn't been so great, the president has failed us. The President has not reassured us through these difficult times that we are facing, but abandoned us even more. I feel so hopeless of what America has become. Celebrating my 42nd birthday doesn't seem to matters anymore since what the world has gotten into. Each day I pray that I wish things will be back as it was and not take each day for granted.

With the pandemic and the protesting, it seems so much complex that at times I feel so lost! Aside from worldly matters, I have to resume back to work and I'm very cautious about wearing a mask wherever I go. Today as I'm writing this I don't feel like it's a national holiday upon celebrating for freedom of declaration. In the midst of all this is happening, I'm praying for each day just getting home safely is the only factor I have in my mind.

Life under Quarantine

Currently with COVID- 19 in NYC right now, I had to stop working and simply stay home. Sadly, I can't enjoy the warm weather and enjoying the beautiful flowers blossoming nearby my home. There are days I miss taking out my youngest one to the park. During the day I have to home school my 4 years at home and I have to say it's been pretty rough. I have to keep my 4 years old occupied, which includes worksheets, drawing, reading to her and baking with her. We made Brownies, the Brownies were delicious, we got the brownie mix box. I. let my 4 years old to do all the work. A few days later we made Banana bread from scratch, it tasted really good. Lastly, we made chocolate cookies from scratch as well and it was really soft and chewy.

Luckily enough Animal Crossing New Horizon came to my rescue. This game has been keeping me occupied as well. This confinement has been very hard remotely being stuck at home, but I'm lucky enough I have TV to watch and internet to surf. Imagine what's it like during the earlier era? Like Spanish Flu that lasted for 2 years, during that time people had no source of entertainment like what we have today. I hope every one of you stays well and be safe and please do stay home. This shall pass and let's stay strong. Here's my daughter rainbow drawing with a Unicorn. I also want to thanks those who are in the front line and risking their lives to serve others.

The Newest Edition Mulberry Purse

It's been a while ever since I blogged because of my work schedule I've been pretty occupied. I haven't gotten the chance to manage to update my blog. Hopefully, I'll try to resume my daily blogging as much as I can. Anyway, I recently purchase a new purse at Mulberry ever since Mulberry stated their exchange program. I decided to take the opportunity to trade in my bag for another bag because I rarely use my old Mulberry bag. My old Mulberry bag was pink and it was hard to match outfits with and it was just giving me headaches when not using it. I tried to sell it at Poshmark but I had no luck selling it. Also with their fees and customers trying to low ball the price, it wasn't worth it. So on Valentine's day, I decided to see how much I could get back and I had my eyes on this certain bag. The value of the exchange program offered me 25% back of the retail value of my old bag, which was $225 and I decided to get a bag that was on sale. The sales rep stated that there's an additional 20% off on sale items that day. So here's the beauty of this bag that I purchased, the Mulberry Amberley Satchel in Palm Green Silky Calf. My Tna BANCROFT RELAXED PARKA Review

In this post, I'll be reviewing the Tna BANCROFT RELAXED PARKA coat. I finally decided to transition in getting a goose down coat since New York City weather can get extremely and brutally cold during the wintertime. I decided to buy my goose down coat at Aritizia because I heard from my friend that the coats are pretty durable for wintertime. I went to the store and tried a few on. I tried the Tna BANCROFT PARKA, but I personally didn't like how the waist section cinch in by making it pretty tight on me. I feel that the Tna BANCROFT PARKA runs a bit on the smaller size. Typically I wear a size Small but when I was trying on the regular Tna BANCROFT PARKA I had to get a medium. I then tried the Relaxed fit and it was more comfortable than the Tna BANCROFT PARKA, it was certainly a more relaxed fit for me and the size does run bigger. I first tried on a large because that is what they had left on the rack and it was overly super big for me. The sales rep recommend me to try a size small, so she checked in the backroom to get me a size small. I really like how the relaxed fit; fits on me. The Relaxed fit, certainly feel more relaxed and it wasn't tight on my waist and I can move around more without being to restricted. Personally, if you want to invest a goosedown jacket from Aritizia I highly recommend that you try on at the store. After trying it on, I decided to purchase because during Thanksgiving Black Friday sales can get hectic and certainly I'm not sure if this coat will ever go on sale since it's a newer style. This coat was an early Christmas present for me.

Test Drive Conclusion:
So I tested drive it recently and wore this on 30-degree windy day weather in NYC. I only wore one long sleeve and that was it. Very durable, keeping me warm at all times going through the wind, which was also windproof as well. The coat kept me insulated at all times. This coat felt like a sleeping bag keeping me warm throughout the day. The pros of this goose down jacket it has the durability of keeping me warm at all times and it is also waterproof if it rains or snows. The downside of this goose down it can be heavy and the zipper is hard to zip up at times.

I hope this review helps you in some ways if you ever want to invest in a goose down jacket at Aritzia.

Summer Recaps

The summer days certainly went by quickly. I hope you all had a great summer. I certainly had a good summer, this summer I had the opportunity to travel a bit. My vacation recaps were going to Mexico for a wedding and then to New Orleans. I had to opportunity to finally try their Gumbo and Jambalaya in New Orleans for the first time. To be candid a lot of the food in New Orleans are very salty. I'm not an enthusiast when consuming salty foods; the saltiness of the food was very unsettling to my stomach. Besides devouring so much food, I made my way to visited the French Quarter. Upon arriving at the French Quarter there were many historic and exquisite French buildings. The streets were so lively at every corner. In one narrow street, I made my way to an artist alley and took a picture of this amazing painting. New Orleans reminds me of a piece of Paris, but with a twist of modern jazz. Also my last highlight, I would like to recommend that you should try their Beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Mommy Vacay was Therapeutic

I got the opportunity to go on a mommy vacay for 2 days and it was certainly therapeutic for me. I took the opportunity to go to my cousin's wedding on my own and just to relax. I didn't have to worry about the kids or supervise them at all times. I could enjoy relaxing on the beach all day or catch up on my sleep. It was rejuvenating and I enjoy this idea so much that I wish I could do this every year. I didn't feel guilty at all and reassure myself that I needed a moment to myself to relax. I enjoyed every moment of it while I was there. I could mingle and chat without being interrupted by my kids.

I stayed at Hotel Xcaret Resort, it's an all-inclusive resort, it was a nice relaxing resort and in the future, I'm considering to do this more so the kids can enjoy their water swimming activities. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore more, there were more things to do like visiting the ruins or ziplining. Here are some pictures of the resort and I hope you have a fantastic summer.

Ganjang-gejang 간장게장

There are times I enjoy eating out, but it’s even more comforting to cook at home because it’s more relaxing when I’m in my pjs. Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of YouTuber eating this Korean dish called Ganjang-gejang 간장게장, it’s raw crabs 🦀 and it got me tempted to try this out. I’m not so sure where to get this dish in K-Town NYC, even so, if I find a place I’m positively sure it will overcharge me. So instead I got myself a half dozen blue carbs and simply follow the cooking instructions that maangchi provided. I always think that making a crab dish was a very difficult process, however, cleaning processing was fairly simple and the sauce wasn’t a very long process to make. This dish is perfect during a hot summer day and it goes well with rice. I’m so glad that I tried making this dish and what a great way to save money. Have you tried this? If you haven't you should it taste very delicious and Happy eating!

Ganjang-gejang

Ingredients

2 pounds live blue crabs (6 or 7 crabs) (or live flower crabs)
1 apple, sliced thinly
1 medium onion, sliced
6 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon ginger, chopped
2-3 green chili peppers, chopped
3-4 small dried red chili peppers
5 inch x 8 inch dried kelp
2½ cups soy sauce
¼ cup rice syrup
6 cups water

Garnish

chopped green onion

dried shredded red pepper (silgochu) or chopped red chili pepper

sesame seeds

Serve with rice.

Directions

Freeze crabs for 2 hours to put them to sleep.
Create marinade by combining soy sauce, water, dried chili pepper, ginger, apple, dried kelp, onion, garlic, and rice syrup in a heavy pot. Cover and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat for 20 minutes, until boiling.
Turn down the heat to low and keep boiling the marinade for another hour.
Let the marinade cool down a little bit, strain it, and then let it cool down thoroughly. Set aside.
Take the crabs out of the freezer. Grab one crab and put on the cutting board belly up. Remove the apron (the piece folded around under the body), by lifting it and twisting it off. Turn it over. Grab the shell with one hand and split it open with your other hand. Remove the gills with a knife or your fingers. Cut off any stringy stuff (eyes & antennae) from the edge of the shell with scissors. Clean all the crabs this way, and keep track of which shell goes with which body.
Brush the crabs in cold running water to clean them thoroughly. But be sure not to wash away the tomalley (aka “mustard”). Drain and put each shell back on the body it belongs to so that it looks a whole crab.
Put the crab into a wide mouth glass jar or container, belly up. Pour the marinade into the jar and press the crabs down with something heavy like a rock, so they remain submerged. Refrigerate for 24 hours.

LIVELY BRAS

This year I've been invited to two weddings and finding a dress is hard. I searched high and low for the perfect dress. The event will be held by the beach and the attire is that we can dress casual. So I've been looking for something flowy and light to wear for the wedding day. There were some flowy chiffon maxi dresses that I was interested in trying at Macy's. I tried them on and only realized it doesn't work for me because I'm too short and it was just overwhelming wearing it around at the event. Here are some tips on what not to wear or show on a wedding day:

Do not reveal your undergarment, invest in a nice strapless bra. If you are going to wear a strap spaghetti dress.
Do not wear a white dress for the wedding day, it being disrespectful to the bride. Instead, you can wear white with floral prints.
Do not outdress the bride, save it for another time.
Lastly, do not wear your own wedding dress for the event. I do not know who would do this but I'm sure there are people stupid enough to do that.

My March Shopping Haul

Hi, it's been awhile! I've been laying low and I've been busy with a lot of things that has kept me from blogging. Recently, I've been trying to buy key pieces that I can were more often. I realized I shopped too many animal prints and overtime I had to recycle it or resell it on my Poshmark account cause it no longer spark joy in my closet. For this March I got a purse, a midi dress and an earring. I could envision myself in wearing the midi dress a lot and as for the purse it was an impluse buy and I realized I have too many crossbody and I want to change my purse up a bit. As for the earring I could envision wearing this often. I'm very selective of buying earring, I like something simple that I can pair it with any outfits. It's so hard to resist from shopping and I promised myself not to buy anything until my trip to Japan.

Happy New Year - 新年快乐 2019

For those who celebrate Chinese Lunar Year (新年快乐), I wish you all have wonderful and a prosperous year. I can't wait to start my Lunar Year and hopefully, this year will be a great year to start off. I have two upcoming trips and it's just a matter of counting the days down. I'm looking forward to just getting away. I've been constantly stressed and I really need a long break to rejuvenate. I hope to remain positive for this year, but sometimes it seems so hard to keep positive at times. Every day seems like a battle and a struggle to remain positive. I try not to think of the negativity and remain hopeful. I try to keep myself distracted and busy by not letting things get hold of me. I've been binging on a lot of Korean Dramas and one of my favorite drama I have finished is called Encounter - 남자친구. The bad side of me being impatient of certain episodes being release and so I got a subscription, therefore I must make good use of my subscription. Any other Korean Drama recommendations? Any hope you all have a great Lunar year 🐷

It's been a while that I have done a beauty post and in this post, I will review this brand called Private Label Extension 3d Mink Lashes. When it comes to lashes I never have the confidence to try using them. I always promise myself that I would try to dress up more and put on full glam makeup when going out for my new year resolution. It's never the case that happens when I have two kids and additionally I always make excuses for myself. My New Year 2019

Things haven't started out right 2019. My grandmother has passed away right between the new years eve and new years day. Starting off 2019 isn't what I wanted to hear the passing of my grandmother. For my New Year outlook, I want to try to remain positive but it seems so hard to achieve that. I try to make some list to change my personal outlook to be more positive, to do more things, to learn more by reading new books. The only things stopping me are always excuses. I get easily upset and hold so many grudges that it's harder for me to move on. I feel so stress and on top of it having insomnia is the worst feeling. I don't get a restful night and constantly getting up in the middle of the night makes it worst. Anyway, I'm here venting and hopefully, things will look up soon for me.

What a year for 2018

I can't believe 2018 is over and what a year. 2018 was pretty a rough year. I ended up emotionally and physically depressed that ended up seeking a therapist. I went for a couple session, but I felt like it wasn't helping at all. Basically, I just vented out my problems instead of seeking a solution in helping me out at all. On top of it, I didn't end up traveling anywhere for this year because my husband and I had to take care of my sick mother in law. Everything I do I feel like it's going downhill, it's tiring and frustrating and hopefully, 2019 will bring a better year for me. I finally made itinerary plans to travel next year. I booked to travel to Japan and also going to Mexico for a wedding. While I'm traveling to a wedding it gives me some time for myself to rest. I really need the break for myself from juggling to care for my youngest daughter and then with my mother in law.

I recently stopped by the Rockefeller Center to capture the Christmas tree. It's nice to take a little break to capture something this nice and makes me want to forget and set aside all the bad memories I go through each day. Instead, I try to create good memories as much as I can towards the end of the year. Anyway, I hope you all have a great Christmas holiday and have a great new year as well.

What I'm Thankful For 2018

It's been a whirlwind each day juggling on the things that I need to attend to. I've been super busy on a lot of things at home so blogging on my site has been generally slow. I also realized that I don't have much viewers either. The blog feels like a cricket mood, I feel like nobody reads blog anymore that I have disable my comment section. I'm still blogging because I like to capture memories that I can look back upon. I can't believe how Thanksgiving approach so fast and sometimes I feel like I'm so caught up I don't know what to be thankful anymore. I'm so tried and drained out that I take each day for granted. I complain more than just saying thank you to the people I love. I jotted down some things on my journal of what I'm thankful for.

What I'm thankful for:

I'm thankful that I'm still healthy and that I don't have physical limitation stopping me that the things I can do.
I'm thankful that I can travel and visit many places.
I'm thankful that I'm mentally strong that I don't have to rely on substance to heal my pain.
I'm thankful that I have a home and that I can find warmth and comfort to.
I'm thankful that I have a wonderful family and my husband who dearly loves me each day.

Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer

I'm currently in love with this Tatcha - The Silk Canvas Filter Finish Protective Primer. I normally don't use a primer to prime my face, because I hate the silicone feel of it. I feel like the silicone just sits on my face and it doesn't absorb or moisturize my face after applying. After using this Tatcha Silk Canvas for a few months now, I really love the effects that has to offer. This primer has help me blurred out my pores, uneven textures, dark circles, and fine lines. I can not rave enough about this because this product does really work. My face looks more smoother and younger after applying this and with my make up. It works great with any combination of skin, but during the winter time for dry skin you need to moisturize first because when I applied this primer over my face I see some dry patches. I was hesitant on purchasing this because it's pretty pricey at $52.00, but after watching few youtube reviews I was sold to try this product out. Would I repurchase this again? I would definitely repurchase again because this primer really helps me look more refresh and has given me more results. I don't use so much make ups anymore, I keep my make up look as minimal as much as possible. Any mother like me suffering a full day exhaustion of watching kids and having heavy dark circle? This is a go to primer to keep yourself looking alive. You can also apply this primer alone but I would apply it with a bit of foundation.

After watching this k-drama series Let's Eat 1, 2 and 3, I'm more motivated in going out to trying out some good food that New York City has to offer. Occasionally my friends and I would have this foodie group date. We love to venture around in New York City to try the latest cuisines there is. My husband decided to book a Korean place to try out and this restaurant is called Her name is Han. I love the name of the restaurant, it sounds so homey. It seems like this place serves comforting food that your mother cooks for you straight out from her kitchen. Once we got in, the inside interior looks like I walked into a Korean home/kitchen. The lighting was dimmed down for more of a comfortable setting. I went straight and started checking out the menu what appetizers and entrees to settle for. My friend, husband and I all agreed to order two appetizers. We ended ordering Lightly Charred Baby Octopus with Soy & Apple Vinegar Sauce and Pork ribs. Then few minutes later I settle in and ordered my entree, I settled for the Cod Steak with Creamy Kimchi-Djion Mustard Sauce & Beet Chips, my friend ordered the Braised Short Ribs & Root Vegetables and my husband who is a chicken lover, he ordered the Country Fried Chicken with Radish Pickles. All of the dishes tasted great, but I wasn't too keen on my Cod. I couldn't leave this place without ordering dessert and we ordered one dessert and shared among 5 people. We ordered the Homemade Green Tea Biscuit Crumbs with Black Sesame Ice Cream topped with dried Strawberries, I love Black Sesame and certainly the ice cream hit the spot. Highly recommend to try this place, the staffs were very nice and attentive and dishes came out pretty fast.

Being 40 doesn't define you Old

This year I have turned 40 and entering a new decade is somewhat scary yet also exciting. As I turned 40, I learned not to let my age define me being old. My 40 is like the new 20s for me but better, because I have the opportunity to do more things I enjoy when I couldn't when I was in my 20s. I get to do more things such as traveling and shopping on the things I want. For this year I didn't hold back and I splurged on the things I wanted. It feels good that I remind myself to love myself more each day.

Falling in love with yourself first doesn’t make you vain or selfish – it makes you indestructible.

I learn not to be hard on myself anymore, I try not to be bitter on the things I can't control or change. I won't let people feed me with their negative thoughts and control my mind of who I am not. I do not let my past define me who I am. Move on and do better and don't let little things to get in your way. Always remember to love yourself no matter how old you are.

My family and I did a family photo shoot session.

My last post was on January 2018 and I can't believe how 8 months has passed by so fast. During the 8 months I had time to reflect and gave myself some break. It was a very therapeutic break and I did manage to do more things with my friends and family. My family and I decided not to go on a big trip this year, instead we just did local trips. I can't believe the summer went by so fast. I decided to come back and start blogging again with a new layout. I hope you like the new layout platform and hope things are easier to navigate around. Until then I'll start picking up some more beauty and fashion reviews soon.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone will have a great year ahead for 2018. Last year 2017 wasn't the best year for my family and I. Recently my husband I had a car crash, the car was pretty much wrecked, but luckily we aren't injured. The car accident was an sour ending for 2017. I really don't set up any resolution for myself but I hope to remain positive and not be so pessimistic for 2018. I try to remain strong and positive but sometimes it's hard. Hopefully things will get better in the long run. Over the holidays I had a good break, my family and friends and I went out to eat, it was nice to catch up with friends. Hopefully this year I get to travel more, my bucket wish list is either revisiting Japan or going Copenhagen and Amsterdam. Hopefully traveling will be in my 2018 plans. Hope everyone have a great New Year! I hope to post more when I have time...

Been Stress

Things at home has been hectic, that's mainly the reason why I haven't been posting at all. Both of my in-laws are in the rehab center. My typical days are taking care of my daughter and juggling going in to the rehab center to help them during the evenings. It's been really stressful and tiring that each day I just want to give up. I've been mentally and physically stress that I don't really have my own time to do my own things. I miss going to the gym, I miss going out with friends etc. I miss traveling and certainly I'm in need of a vacation for myself to recuperate. There are times I even get stress out over little things, so right now I'm sorry for the lack of beauty post or my daily life expedition in the heart of NYC. Please bare with me at the moment till things settle down and thank you!

Having a hard time accepting my Weight Issue...

I wished I could have documented my weight lost journey throughout the way. I wish I could had taken pictures of this journey, unfortunately I didn't. I felt ashamed of looking back at the old photos. There were many times that I wasn't in tiptop shape, I was embarrassed to take pictures with my family during special events. I'd rather be behind the lens and take pics of my daughter and my husband. I was extremely self-conscious and was literally in tears when trying on new clothes that doesn't flatter me at all.

Shopping for clothes was extremely hard with my height and having an apple shape body. I really buried myself with food and allowed myself to let go, not realizing how much damage I was doing to my body. Food was my only source of comfort that I can confide into by making my worries go away. I told myself to try to change by eating less and moving more, but nothing happens and I ended eating more.

I was left hopeless and frustrated and there were times I got jealous of people who had the perfect body and looked good on anything they wore. But I realized it has nothing to do my weight, I could have embraced and be proud of it and invest more time of finding clothes that can flatter me. My self- consciousness made me afraid of myself. But after my lost weight journey, I learned a valuable lesson to embrace myself and love myself more even when I'm not in perfect shape.

Embrace yourself for who you are. Don't always feel pressure that you have to change to look good, change that you want to be healthy that's the most important factor. Change when you are ready, there's no timeline that you have to change at a certain time. I changed to live healthier, I changed to set a good example for my family in eating healthier.

Travel: London

I'm back from traveling and I wish my trip could have been longer like a couple of weeks. I got the opportunity to explore London. I got to visit the major sites like the London Eye, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Each of these attractions are extremely busy, so we didn't stay for a long time there. With a short amount of time my family and I explored this city on our own. London is very easy to get around, with their underground system it's pretty simple and fast to get to certain destinations. I wish I could have done shopping there, but everything in London are expensive. Hopefully I could revisit London again in the future, but I think this city is very simple. I think Italy and Japan are my still favorite destination, where I still reminiscence of wanting to revisit again.
