Heidi Klum didn’t plan on walking the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night, but let’s just say she’s a little bit impulsive. “I felt great the night of the fashion show and decided last minute to walk,” the supermodel, 36, who welcomed daughter Lou, with husband Seal, last month, tells PEOPLE exclusively. Klum, who had already been fitted for her dress, opened the Enchanted Forest-themed part of the show, wearing a vine-strewn corset and a full white skirt. “I loved my outfit,” she says, “so I thought, why not?” Her surprise appearance, known only to Victoria’s Secret insiders, drew screams and applause from a shocked audience during the live show Thursday night. Though Klum, who was expected only to host the festivities, said that while her new job behind the scenes meant there was “definitely less pressure,” walking in the show was a thrill for her. “I’m proud of being the curvy model on the Victoria’s Secret stage,” she says, adding that she enjoyed the show herself. “The Black Eyed Peas and all of the looks for the show were fantastic!” You can watch Heidi — and all the Angels — hit the runway when the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs on CBS at 10pm EST on Dec. 1.–Charlotte Triggs

When former Gastineau Girls, mother-daughter duo Lisa and Brittny Gastineau, created their Tres Glam fine jewelry line, they did so from the perspective of reality stars and Hollywood insiders. “The diamond evil eye in 18 karat gold is our main thing,” Brittny told PEOPLE from Los Angeles, where she lives with her mother. “It’s designed to protect you from any jealousy. And of course there’s a lot of jealousy, especially when you’re on TV. You have a lot of eyes [on you] and sometimes not everyone’s wishing you well.” Brittny has given the baubles to best friend Kim Kardashian and E! News host Giuliana Rancic, schooling them in her family’s superstition before bestowing the gifts. “I just feel like when you’re in the public eye, you do need protection. And I’m telling you, I feel naked without my evil eye. We’re all for a little style experimentation, but when we spotted beauty mavens Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen at MoMA’s Film Benefit honoring Tim Burton this week in New York we were more than a little perplexed. We’d gotten used to Mary-Kate being the style risk-taker and her twin Ashley taking a more conservative approach. But the duo played with our expectations, with Ashley adding rainbow stripes to her hair and her sister going as bold as ever with the deepest red lips around. For anyone who wondered why fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld picked British pop star Lily Allen to be the new face of Chanel’s Coco Cocoon collection, he cleared it up for Elle.com. The Kaiser explained that he “loves Lily’s humor, her cheekiness, her talent.” And the fact that she’s cute doesn’t hurt either, with Karl citing “her little upturned nose, and her perfect décolletage.” The British starlet, a regular at Chanel’s fashion shows in Paris, has also launched a jewelry line and is slated to star in Neil LaBute’s new West End production of Reasons to Be Pretty in 2010. As if her singing career doesn’t keep her busy enough, Alicia Keys is taking on jewelry design. The 12-time Grammy award-winning R&B singer is teaming up with The Barber’s Daughters designer Gisele Theriault for a collection of necklaces due out in fall 2010. Alicia first met Gisele while she was touring in Toronto through her bandmates, who happened to be buying the jewelry backstage at her show. “I fell in love with the individuality of the pieces, but more than that, the words that were written on them really resonated with the songwriter in me,” Alicia tells WWD about Gisele’s pieces, which are inscribed with poetry and prayers. “I knew at that moment, for the first time, that through a whole other medium I would be able to spread inspiration, and that’s what got me started.” Alicia’s collection of necklaces for The Barbara’s Daughters will range in price from $85 to $2,500 and feature precious metals and gems inscribed with inspirational messages. And while the collection won’t be available until next year, New Yorkers will get a first look and chance to purchase her baubles next week during a two-day preview at a temporary shop at Collette Blanchard Gallery at 26 Clinton Street. If you’re one of the lucky few to have been crowned Miss USA, chances are that you know a thing or two about beauty. And Shanna Moakler is making the most of her makeup know-how with a new line of organic pressed mineral makeup co-created with her personal makeup artist, Daniel McFadden. While the Smoak collection launched just this week, Shanna tells PEOPLE that her love of makeup started at a young age. “My mom is beautiful and had that ’70s kind of glamour,” she says. “My love of lip gloss comes from my mom, who always wore it — and from watching Charlie’s Angels.” Smoak does feature a rainbow of glosses, but it also encompasses everything from eyeliners and eye shadows to blushes and foundation, all based on the Miss California USA host’s principle that makeup should be as fun as it as functional. “Yes,” it’s more fun to be blonde, Katharine McPhee told PEOPLE at a Calvin Klein Collection, Cinema Society and Sony Pictures Classics-hosted screening of Broken Embraces at the Crosby Street Hotel on Tuesday night. But is it more work to stay blonde? McPhee also answered with a decided, “Yes!” So how often does the singer have to visit her colorist to maintain her platinum locks? “Depending on what I have going on,” she said, “every three-and-a-half, four weeks. Right now I’m almost at the too dark roots stage. So I get to play around with hats.” The short coif is also relatively new. “Peter Savitt cuts my hair. This is the same haircut I had during Fashion Week, but it’s just been growing out and I’ve been flattening it.” But changing up her do has provided a surprising side effect — throwing off the paparazzi! McPhee revealed, “I’ve gone for a doctor’s appointment in Beverly Hills. She’s a successful TV star, fashion designer and fiction writer, but she hasn’t written a book on style — until now. Lauren Conrad will unveil her top style tips in Lauren Conrad Style, to be published by Harper Collins in the fall of 2010. The book will not only feature new and never-before-seen photos of the fashion icon, but the former MTV “Hills” star will show readers exactly how to interpret her classic and cool style into their lives. “I am really excited to write a style guide,” said Conrad, who designs an affordable clothing line for Kohl’s, in a release. “I think fashion should be fun and reflective of who you are. When you wear clothes you feel good in, it shows in everything you do. I know this guide will offer simple, practical tips to help anyone look fabulous.” This year, Lauren released her first book L.A. If Leighton Meester could give just one piece of fashion advice to her Gossip Girl alter ego, Blair Waldorf, what would it be? “She could let loose a bit,” British Glamour’s December cover girl says. “She’s always got every bow in the right spot and her headband perfectly placed. Tights to match her sweater to match her jacket to match her gloves to put on with her hat.” It sounds…exhausting. However, despite their different wardrobes, the Gossip Girl actress credits the show for her own edgy style. “This character has been an introduction to fashion,” she says. “I take my own cue and do something different. Blair’s much more classic – I like changing it up.” When it comes to her beauty regime, the actress ditches Blair’s rollers and irons for a more natural look. “I actually think I’m prettier without makeup,” she boldly states, and her favorite hairstyle is definitely headband-less. “I like it to be somewhat tousled.” Perhaps the only fashion item they do have in common is their love of gravity-defying high heels which, according to Meester, are responsible for her toned calf muscles. “It’s probably from walking in high heels — I’m not kidding!” –Monique Jessen

First Brad and Angelina, then the Kardashians, and now Michelle Trachtenberg is stepping into the jewelry design business! The Gossip Girl troublemaker has teamed up with Coach to design a range of baubles for the brand’s fun and fresh Poppy collection. Michelle Trachtenberg for Poppy is described by Coach as embodying “refined-romantic with attitude, bringing a punky look to a lush mix of materials and inspirations.” Michelle says, “Getting the opportunity to design jewelry for Coach’s Poppy collection was too exciting to pass up. The collections are perfect representations of my whimsical attitude towards fashion and have that great mix of girly and edgy that I love.” While Michelle Trachtenberg for Poppy is slated to launch for Spring 2010, a small preview collection of bee motif pieces in emerald greens and cobalt blues will be available on December 1 at Coach.com and in Coach stores. Michelle’s holiday preview collection will range in price from $78 – $128 and will include a bracelet, necklace, ring and earrings while the spring collection includes five more pieces retailing from $128 – $328. Well, her boyfriend Russell Brand loved them. Now, lusty fans can have some too. Katy Perry’s soccer-themed lingerie, that is! Brand’s favorite soccer club, West Ham United, provided three shirts for 25-year-old Perry’s stylists to fashion into skimpy stagewear for her turn hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards earlier this month. And after the pictures raised eyebrows for her boyfriend, as well as admirers around the world, the club in East London has decided to make a limited number themselves. Initially, 50 sets priced at around $480 each will be made on a pre-order basis only. (If placed before November 20, they will be ready for Christmas and they are ordered before the end of next month, they will be perfectly timed for a Valentine’s Day surprise, the club says.) Perry’s get-up was the brainchild of freelance celebrity stylist and costume designer Siobhan Dillon. She told the West Ham United website Wednesday, “I thought it would be cool to try and make the shirt as football-oriented as possible. “So, I used the collars along the top of the brassiere and used the two badges on the front. I had a team of three girls working with me on the outfit. In her new film Broken Embraces, Penélope Cruz dresses the part of a mogul’s wife and budding movie star, but at the Calvin Klein Collection-sponsored Cinema Society premiere at the Crosby Street Hotel last night, she looked simply angelic in a long white velvet coat and matching dress from Calvin Klein Collection with glittering Chopard diamonds. “She’s an angel,” said Francisco Costa, who is the Women’s Creative Director, Calvin Klein Collection. “She’s a total clothes horse. She looks amazing in everything.” Costa was also struck at how well the camera reacts to Penélope, even in her off time. “It was quite telling today. I wasn’t in the last fitting, and I got pictures of her in the clothes at the hotel room. And they looked like movie stills. She was just wearing the clothes in the hotel room, but it almost felt like Helmut Newton pictures, there was so much of her in the photos.” Even for a star as graceful as Penélope, it is still demanding to promote two movies at once — her musical Nine is coming out in December, as well. “Well, yes, I’m dressing for two tours at once over these two weeks, so it’s great that I have a team of people that help me.” Luckily after months of rigorous training for her dance numbers in Nine, she looks as fabulous in her red carpet clothes as she does in her revealing costumes. “For Nine, I had to rehearse a number for three months,” said Cruz. “That was the only way to do that, I had singing teachers and dancing teachers. Call it method hair. When Sandra Bullock dyed her naturally brunette hair a golden blonde to play real life Memphis housewife Leigh Anne Tuohy in her film The Blind Side, her family had a distinctly unfavorable reaction. “They didn’t like it at all,” Bullock told PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of the film due in theaters Nov. 20. “It was entertaining for a couple of months but it’s not really my color palette.” In fact, Bullock says her husband, Monster Garage star Jesse James, did not find her lightened tresses attractive, which was a big relief. “Thank God an important person in my life didn’t want me being blonde. He was like, ‘I don’t like the blonde on you,’” she says. “You want him to say that!” Having experienced a lighter hairdo for months, does the old wives tale that blondes have more fun than brunettes hold true for Bullock? “Not at all” according to the natural dark brunette star. “Fun is what you make. Nobody is going to bring you the fun,” she said. “You got to go out and get it your fun.” One thing Bullock definitely did have fun with was playing a strong feisty woman with a quirky firecracker personality. “There’s no one else like her,” she says of Tuohy. “I’ve never met anyone else like her and I wish there more like her. She doesn’t care what people think. She and I come from very different viewpoints and we meet in the middle very easily because you realize the differences are not that great.” She adds, “I feel very humbled to have been a part of this. Her fans might envy Whitney Port for always looking perfectly put-together, but The City star is sharing the beauty wealth by appearing in her blog makeup-free — and revealing her favorite tips for dolling up. “I am not a big fan of heavy makeup,” she says, “so the majority of the time I do my own. I stick to the basics of face powder, bronzer and blush.” Her five-minute plan to getting gorgeous without a personal makeup artist? “I start by mixing Fresh High Noon tinted moisturizer with the Fresh Soy Face Cream to get a nice base with a little sunkissed glow. Then I dust Bare Minerals Powder with SPF 15 to even out my skin. Next I bronze with Guerlain Number One for Blondes on my cheeks, hairline and jawline. Then I brush a little bit of NARS Orgasm Blush on my cheekbones, a little on my forehead, nose, and chin to keep it constant. I use Anastasia brow gel to give my eyebrows a nice shape (this is especially helpful if I haven’t had time to go in to get them done.) I highlight under my eyebrows with Benefit Eye Bright and then curl my lashes with a Sephora eyelash curler. Twilight’s Ashley Greene might have looked red-hot at last night’s L.A. premiere of the film series’ latest installment, New Moon, but she tells PEOPLE that finding her perfect scarlet Prabal Gurung stunner was no small matter. “We picked a dress out, had it ready,” Ashley says of a different look, which she originally chose with her stylist. But at the last minute, “I decided I didn’t like it and we had to start from scratch.” Just how down to the wire did it get? “I stopped by the tailors right before I got here to pick up the dress,” she admits. The rest of her red-carpet prep, however, was less of an ordeal. For two hours on the Sunday before the premiere, Ashley received eyelash extensions from expert Calma Yom at The Parlour on 3rd and then returned to the salon to have her hair extensions freshened up the following day. As for her bronzed skin, Ashley looked to St. Tropez tanning expert Fiona Locke, who customized and contoured her skin before the big event. Looks like Lindsay Lohan hasn’t found herself another fashion job quite yet. Though Ungaro’s Artistic Advisor told Access Hollywood that she had teamed up with jewelry designer Pascal Mouawad to create a collection for bebe, WWD reports that it just isn’t so. According to the paper, Pascal Mouawad, who has partnered with Nicole Richie and Heidi Klum in the past, acknowledges that though discussions about launching a jewelry line with Lindsay for bebe did take place, the line “is not happening.” And a rep from bebe confirms that to PEOPLE, saying “We are not doing anything with her. There were talks months ago but we did not go forward with anything.” While Lindsay won’t be contributing to the bebe design team, you can still get star style at the retailer with Nicole Richie’s exclusive House of Harlow collection and Khloe, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian’s spring clothing line for bebe.

Not only will the Kardashian sisters’ clothing line for Bebe hit stores this spring, but Kim, Kourtney and Khloe will also be launching a jewelry collection for hip L.A. brand Virgin Saints and Angels. “The collection embraces our unique style…. Romantic, edgy, and classic vintage… of at least we hope so . Our Armenian culture is very important to us and we tried to incorporate that in the jewelry also,” Kim writes on her official website. There isn’t much that could have out-done last week’s infamous threesome, but leave it to Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) to make the steamy scene a thing of the past by securing an exclusive performance by Lady Gaga.
