The whole idea of the holiday packs was that buyers could offer to pay whatever they thought the packs were worth to them.  Each buyer made their offer and was shipped a holiday pack.  There were 75 thousand made in total and these went very quickly. Now the holiday packs have become something of a collectors item.

The shiny red packs contain 30 new and unique cards that contain messages relating to the holiday season and the New Year.

The cards were manufactured with a linen finish.  The custom foil bags were printed and the cards were inserted and sealed into the bags.  Similar in size to baseball card packs – these expansions have been seen to fetch as much as $65 on e bay!!.  Custom playing cards in foil packs are available through Ad Magic in a variety of sizes and can be printed in full color.

Personalized playing cards are David Lee Roth of Van Halen’s new celebrity autograph!

That’s right – you heard me – David Lee Roth is now using custom playing cards -printed by Ad Magic – as a way of signing – well not signing – autographs for his fans and also to protect his signature from being re sold on ebay and other collectible sites.

The colorful “Celebrity Signature” playing cards for David Lee Roth – the lead singer of Van Halen – are printed on a casino quality playing card stock and boast  54 unique individual cards with clever sayings that could only have been hand crafted exclusively by David Lee Roth himself.  These custom playing cards are actually being handed out to fans as collectible autograph cards by the famous lead singer turned video show host.  Based on what I have read printed on some of the cards, it seems to me that David Lee Roth has had a few issues arise with identity theft – specifically theft of his signature and resale of it on sites like ebay.  Even though he apparently does not wish to continue to sign what are considered to be conventional autographs, these custom printed autograph type playing cards will allow the rock star to provide fans with a David Lee Roth memento to take away when they meet him.With 54 personalized comments on each of the custom playing cards faces, each card reflects David’s personality in a different way and can be handed out to an appropriate type of fan based on what the card actually says. Comments range from things like “Dude. 1984 called. It wants its ennui back” to “This is a 100% authentic No Autographs Please calling card that I, David Lee Roth, handed exclusively to you” to some others that I really cannot print here no matter how much I would like to.

Fortunately for blogging purposes – the use of playing cards continues to evolve and change and develop into interesting new configurations as more and more people invent fascinating uses for them. With the continual rise in identity theft, the ridiculous prices of celebrity autographs online and collectible prices in general, it seems to me that the time for celebrity autograph playing cards is now. What a great way for famous people to take control of their own autograph situation while at the same time providing their fans with a unique take-away.   Of course that doesn’t mean that even these personalized playing cards won’t ever be making an appearance on ebay –  but at least they won’t affect David Lee Roth in a way he can’t “deal” with. Pun intended.

The cards shown above were printed as follows: All of the above Las Vegas Playing Cards were printed on a digital press on casino quality 300 gsm playing card stock. The red card was foil stamped with a black hot stamp foil on a stock red poker sized playing card stock. Personalized foil stamp playing cards require art work that reproduces well in black and white so that a precision hot stamp die can be created which transfers the imprint through the foil to the card.  The foil imprint is permanently adhered to the card stock through the use of intense heat and pressure.  The formulation of the foil used as well as the adhesive have been time tested to assure complete compatibility so that the foil imprint bites permanently in to the stock and makes an imprint that will last for decades.

Custom playing cards featuring images of the top peaks in Colorado

One of our favorite decks is a beautiful custom playing card deck featuring the fantastic peaks of Colorado, photographed by the talented Matt Tracz.

These decks contain incredible photos of many mountain peaks in the state of Colorado, and particularly feature photos of the Colorado 14ers.  The Colorado 14ers are mountains with 14,000 ft. peaks.  If you visit the gallery at http://www.14ercards.com/gallery/index.html  you can see each individual card displayed to its full size. The Colorado 14ers personalized playing cards are the brainchild of Matt Tracz, an avid hiker who hails from the town of Fort Collins, CO.  A couple of years ago, Matt formulated an idea for a conceptual product that combined some of his greatest loves: the magnificent mountain ranges of Colorado, adventure photography and playing cards.  Motivated and inspired by the project – Matt developed a plan and an itinerary to take incredible photos of some of the most beautiful and exciting peaks in Colorado.  By the winter of 2010  – Matt had amassed a dramatic arsenal of mountain photos which  he was able to combine into a stunning 54 card custom face playing card deck.

If you have a cause that you want to support,  a deck of custom playing cards is a wonderful way to get your message across.  Over the years we have printed decks for local farm heroes, people trying to save the rain forest, charities of all kinds, memorial funds, and efforts for a variety veterans organizations to name a few.

Sometimes the playing card decks are given away at the charity event  as a personalized memento for the participants.  Often the personalized playing card decks are sold to raise money for the organization at the event itself.  Many times there is no actual event and the card decks themselves are used as an integral part of the fundraising campaign.
