Highlights for the week are a 4-day lighting bootcamp with incredible photographer Joe McNally (starting tomorrow morning!) and a lighting workshop with Martin Prihoda.

Opportunities like this are just not available in little Perth, Western Australia, so what better excuse than to book a flight and head to Dubai to get involved in the action.

Trying my hardest to calm the excitement enough to get a little sleep but it’s easier said than done.

Spent the day yesterday with Tony and Mark from Rare Earth Furniture. Far out they make some stunning handmade furniture.

We photographed all their work in the gallery to be featured on their website (in development, coming soon) and also captured some “in-action” shots of Tony and Mark with their sleeves rolled up, doing what they do best.

The purpose of the shoot was to capture a range of images of the team and workspace to add life and personality to their website.

One of the objectives was to capture a “hero shot” to be used for the homepage banner.

There are different options available when photographing clothing. You can photograph the garment…

• laying flat on a surface
• being worn by a model or
• on a mannequin

When photographing clothing on a mannequin it can sometimes look a little “cheap” and un-polished to see the mannequin’s arm, legs or head poking out of the clothing.

These images are an example of the “invisible mannequin” technique where the garments are full and 3D, but there are no signs of anyone wearing the clothing – they appear hollow.

It’s an excellent technique and results in high quality product images that are all about the clothing.

The name Suckfizzle is drawn from the unique tales of Rabelais (1490 to 1553), the 15th century French monk and medico turned writer and his infamous character the Great Lord Suckfizzle.

We decided to go for an atmospheric and ancient style to draw on the link to the storytale.

We then photoshopped the title of the book onto the spine of the third book from the bottom (it’s a bit tricky to see at such a small image size).

Anna from O2wear (www.o2wear.com.au) has recently launched her new bamboo camisole and leggings range and we were honoured to photograph her products.

We photographed all the products on our lovely model Brooke and had a ball!

When selling online, it’s really important to leave no doubt in your potential customers mind about the product. In this case, it was important to show the range of colours and also the different angles, so you can easily see the cut of the clothing.

The photo shoot was also the perfect opportunity to take a variety of other images to use for website banners, email & print marketing, facebook business page and to dress up the information pages of the site.

As you can see, the photography really makes the website! It feels professional, is enjoyable to look at and absolutely gives you confidence that you are buying a quality product.

Didgeridoo Dojo is a brand new site brought to you by the team at Didgeridoo Breath and is the most comprehensive Learn to Play Didgeridoo resource worldwide.

One of the major strengths of the team is their personality. The guys are upbeat, positive, encouraging and a whole lot of fun. It’s was most important that the website reflected this and the easiest way to achieve that, was having the right photos.

The goal of this shoot was simple… to capture a portfolio of images of the team to be used on the various pages in the website to add life, personality and fun!

This photo shoot was for Yahmo Blinds Shutters Curtains who provide high quality window dressings for homes.

Yahmo are in the process of updating their website and print marketing and wanted to use images of actual installations, unique to their company, rather than the available stock photos commonly seen in other companies marketing.

It was important to have a lifestyle feel to the images so we captured a selection of “product shots” and also photographs with people in them.

Here are some of the images taken…

We were looking for professional photography of two newly constructed homes that we had installed window treatments to. The photographs utilised live models and we were looking to capture that “wow factor” of our products in a real life situation.

Matt was professional and enthusiastic about the project from start to finish and certainly gave more of his time than he charged us for.I intend to use Matt and Perth Product Photography in the future and would recommend his services to anyone looking for outstanding service in this area.
