Have you heard of EzArticleLink, the system that helps to create lots of one-way backlinks for your blog?

1. Using its tool, you can customize your page to look like any other page on your blog. Here look at mine from my Learn Affiliate Marketing Blog to get an idea.(I’m still in the midst of housekeeping and touching up the look and feel of it and getting the ‘categories’ to show up)

2. For every domain that you put an article directory on, you are allowed another domain in which you can use it as a “post only” domain. This means you can use it solely for link building and to spin any of your articles and submit them for their approval. Once approved your spun articles will be published to about 200 members’ article directories which are created from their blogs just like mine.. That’s how you get your one-way backlinks. Pretty cool huh?

Any reservations in using it?

I think the benefits of potentially getting many backlinks are quite obvious but there could be people who have some reservation on putting an article directory on your blog. You may think having a topic like “Tips for Winning Back Your Girlfriend” is well kinda out of place in a blog like “Home Business Blog“. That’s because this is a general article directory like ezinearticles and you will find many articles get published that are totally unrelated to your blog theme and topics.

Personally I don’t think these unrelated articles will hurt my blog. If this were true, why would Google rank Ezinearticles or Wikipedia so highly? But it’s also nothing new too actually as lots of bloggers set up an article directory within their blogs.

How do I like using it

Well I have to say I’m still a new member. My domain approval only took 2 days and yesterday I used one article to spin it for their approval. If you are familiar with how to spin an article (like Free Traffic System), it’s a breeze. I took about an hour to complete mine but should easily do it in 30 minutes once I’m more familiar with the system. So it’s 30 minutes of work to get a possible 200 backlinks. Here’s how I improved my SERP ranking for my newest niche site from Google’s page 7 to page 3 in 18 hours. As in all my new micro niche adsense sites, the process I follow is pretty routine since I’ve now created 16 websites. A quick summary of what I do for each new site is this: 1. Keyword Research 2. Purchase Domain with main keyword 3. Write Homepage content 4. Get new website indexed in24 hours 5. New website in SERP on Google’s page 2 or page 3 My Results: Well the good news is that my newest niche site got indexed within 12 hours but the bad news – it appeared on Google’s page 7 somewhere at the 67th position. I was expecting it to be on page 3-5 as the main keyword I was ranking was a little more competitive with more search volume. I have to admit it’s a little harder nowadays to get higher ranking because of Google’s ever changing algorithms like the recent May Day update. (by the way, for this new niche I chose to use WordPress because the techniques I used, described below work better with a WordPress blog) Well there’s no rest for the wicked and off I went to work on my SERP and this is exactly what I did that finally moved it to page 3, at 27th position within 18 hours. Here goes:

1.Google Wonder Wheel

I used the Google Wonder Wheel to find all my LSI keywords. You probably know that when you write articles for any topic, you should include LSI keywords in addition to your main keywords. With Google Wonder Wheel, it just makes your job much easier to find them. These are the steps I used: (I’ll just use an example of how to find LSI keywords for “how to make money blogging” as my main keyword since I cannot share with you my niche keyword. The process is the same anyway) (a) Do the search for “how to make money blogging“ in Google as usual. Then click on ‘Wonder Wheel’ just below ‘All results’ option:

(b) You will be presented with a display of the Google Wonder Wheel for the main keyword you just typed in as “how to make money blogging” with all the accompanying LSI keywords like “make money wordpress”, “how to make money fast”, “how to make money online”, “how to make money from home”, “how to start a blog” etc:

Now for my niche site I made sure some of these LSI keywords can be found on the second post I wrote making sure there were both H1 and H2 tags in the content as well as my site description. By doing so, it tells Google what is the theme of my site.(Check my post:“Wanna Know What Google Sees in your Blog”)

How Google Wheel Can Help Your Ranking

Depending on how competitive your keywords are, Google Wheel can help in many ways to expedite your search engine ranking even without any backlinks just like my case.

(c) It also helps you plan all your future posts as to what topics you should be writing about. That just sort of cement your theme and you know that’s a perfect way to give Google what it wants.

2. Put ‘Google News’ RSS Feed

I added Google News RSS feeds for my main keyword to my new site, so that I start getting news content relating to my keyword automatically on my site. Besides providing more content on my site, I will get some long tail keywords ranked too.

3. Provide a Resource Page

I did a quick search for good websites with similar topic as my niche and created a short blogroll. For each of these sites I used the LSI keywords from Google Wonder Wheel as the keyword I want to show on the link page. Again this helps to tell Google what your theme is all about.

As part of link building for this niche, I will later contact the blog owners to link back possibly from another website or blog.

Latest Update: My niche site has moved up to Google’s #1 position since Aug 30, 2010. I followed Brian Johnson’s Commission Ritual to the T and that made the difference.

Final Thoughts

What I have done is just improved my SERP higher and its all on-page SEO techniques. Probably not earth shattering news. The real work starts with more link building for this new website to moved it to Google’s Top 3 positions.

Do you think blogging has changed over the last few years? Well I think it has for me, at least over the last 3 years that I’ve been blogging.

One of the most obvious ones that strike me most is on blog commenting. I can see a big change in the way people are doing their blog comments. While I still received good, quality comments on this blog and I’m grateful for that, I’ve also seen a big increase in the number of spam comments. It became so bad a few months ago that I had to resort to changing my plugin setting to moderate and approve all new comments. I do apologize if this has inconvenienced you and if you much preferred to see your comment showing up immediately. However you may like to know I approve all good comments within the same day.

Secondly, I am finding the trend shifting towards blogs over-focusing on how to make money blogging and profiting seems to be the only motive. This I believed is caused by just too many blogging softwares being developed and made easily available in all markets. They seem to be appearing at every nook and corner. At times I feel that the intentions of these powerful tools were developed with a somewhat different purpose only to land in the hands of some over zealous Internet Marketers – those who knew how to showcase such tools to their advantage and to quickly launch a new product.

Today people are more inclined to cover topics that they know are going to return them some quick profits. Many are also resorting to auto-blogs and it seems that such blogs are becoming very popular especially for starting niche blogs. Perhaps it’s a smarter way to make money blogging. What do your think? But just to prove a point how much people are caught up by auto-blogs, I Googled it and found plenty and one of them goes like this : “….you are about to discover the secret blueprint to creating niche-dominating, optimized blogs that run on complete auto-pilot and practically forces money into your bank account…”

If you’re a new online marketer and learning how to write articles the proper way, don’t let this post confuse you if it appears to go against all conventional wisdom. In the early days of Internet Marketing writing articles seemed totally manual; it’s laborious, tedious and totally unproductive. It was also the only way we knew how then.

Well fast forward to today the day you’re going to find out one great plugin that I’ve discovered that makes writing articles much easier. Incidentally this free stuff that I’m getting today is worth at least $19 per month – that’s exactly what I was paying to BlogProfitz a couple of years back to get similar service. So whoever says free stuff is not quality stuff probably has some serious thinking to do.

What does this plugin do:

1. The script comes from the well respected ‘Unique Article Wizard‘ and it allows you to choose how many articles you require daily for your blog or niche site. You can set it to receive directly and automatically into your blog or you can approve it before posting.

2. You can select the categories for which you want these articles to be based on the categories you have created for your blog. That’s how you get real targeted content.

For Discussions:

1. Is this considered unique content? Well yes and no. Any article you received has been used before – but in a different version. All of these articles sent are spun versions so in Google’s eyes they are still unique. Clever little devil.

2. You can use this on any WordPress site. Go to their website and read the directions on how to setup. Its very simple.

3. Someone who recommended this plugin to me had this to say:

“Most of the sites I used this on moved up in rank. Google likes new content and this content is original in their eyes. I have one site that was gone in Google’s eyes. I put this on to see what happens and after 30+ articles, it reappeared #8 first page. I had another site that was sitting at #6 – #8 forever no matter what I did for backlinking. I put this on and its #2….”

Well this feedback is just from one happy person but it’s no harm just using it and see if it works for you. Test it on a site that you have lost all your confidence in, in terms of traffic, ranking etc and see if it helps.

4. Never set it to automatically approve for posting into your blog. You do want to review each article as it comes as a few are not so good- it does not take long to do this anyway. Most are decent articles. I set it to 1 or 2 a day. Most of them I approve but a few of them get the chop.

What do I use it for?

1. That’s the part where I contend we are better off using automation now than years ago when there was non. The spun article is never as good as the human edited article. But for niche marketing it’s a perfect solution if like me you are building lots of micro niche adsense sites for example. Having 15 niche sites is slowly but surely taking its toil on me although I have more static sites than wordpress blogs. Still it’s going to ease up my work schedule quite a bit.

2. Most of my niche sites are on everyday products that people shop for so this is going to be perfect for my use. I’ll spend lesser time and money writing regular updates on them.

You probably already know that Google now uses your page load time as a an algorithm for ranking your blog or website. Here is some information to read from Google Webmaster on Site Speed importance to keep you up to speed if you have not heard about this. I knew that too but like most people, have been busy with other things to really set aside time to seriously do something about it. Well last week I was forced to do so because a serious technical problem cropped up and I was working with Hostgator to fix it. The solution called for installing a simple WP Plugin that could save this blog from a serious disaster waiting to happen. I like to share with you so that that same problem never happened to you.

The Technical Problem reported by Hostgator:

“This message is to advise you of a temporary block placed on your database. The database “/var/lib/mysql/peterlee_com/” was found to be consuming an inordinate amount of processor time, to the point of degrading overall system performance. While we do limit each account to no more than 25% of a system’s CPU in our terms of service, we do not actively disable accounts until they greatly exceed that number, which is what happened in this case.”

Because this problem posed a security risk, my blog was disabled while a solution given to me was….INSTALL W3-TOTAL-CACHE plugin

What are the benefits of using this plugin?

1. Essentially what this plugin does is it provides basic caching and stores your data so that any future request for the same data is retrieved faster from the cache and not from the server. By doing so it significantly reduces the processing burden on your server. If you have high traffic for your blog, using this plugin could save a lot of unnecessary headache of a server overload issue.

2. It significantly reduces your blog’s page load time and needless to say improves your visitor’s user experience on your blog. In technical terms this helps to greatly reduce the CPU required to run a WordPress blog and let you process more traffic while using less CPU. That’s a big factor to bring in repeat visitors to your blog.

3. At least 10x improvement in overall site performance

4.Up to 80% bandwidth savings via minify and HTTP compression of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and feeds

Why CPU Overload Can Be an Expensive Issue

I had previously (and wrongly) thought that CPU overload could only happen to big blogs that have tons of traffic, but what happened to my blog just proved this is not true. There could be other factors too that could easily eat up your CPU resources like the countless number of plugins we try to install to create the perfect user experience for our visitors.

Upgrading to a dedicated server could solve the problem but that is an expensive option, Hostgator tells me a basic dedicated server starts at $179 per month.

Important note before you upload W3-Total-Cache

This plugin is not compatible to older versions of WP as I found out the hard way. My blog was using WP ver2.6 and the upload crashed my blog. I had to upgrade to WP3.0 before it was successful.

To check if you have successfully uploaded your plugin open up any of your blog post and check the source code. You should see this:

2. Backlink Building

I always plan creating my new niche sites in the first week of the month, because I usually received my link package (30 high PR links) from Angela Edward’s Backlink Building Program. I just used 2 or 3 high PR link profiles to add my new website for the time being and will put more once Google has indexed my website.

3. Submit to RSS Sites

Since buying Big Mike’s RSSBot (link given is not affiliate link) I just let this tool submit my new site to 30 RSS sites . My niche sites are all html sites so I used html-RSS to create each one of them from html to RSS. If you don’t have this tool just submit your new website to a few RSS sites.

4. Ping My New Website

The internet can be a confusing place to start a business, take it from someone who has over 30 years of on-land experience; the transition to the internet has its own set of new and unique problems to overcome before the money starts rolling in.

The first and most important tip I want to offer you is this one: the internet highway is not paved with gold, it is paved with obstacles that, if you are not aware of them, will trip you up on your way to what you may think is an easy way to make money. There is no easy, simple way to make money anywhere, least of all on the internet. The only people that I know of who are making easy money on the internet are the ones who are peddling the scams that say there is easy money to be made on the internet!

My experience has shown me that the reality of making money on the internet is this; it’s harder to make money on the internet for a similar land line business for the simple fact that there is a middle man between you, the business owner, and your potential customers, all of those millions of people zooming around the internet. Out in the real world, all you need to do to open up a business is to open a store and, if you were on a busy street, you would have customers in your store in the first 5 minutes. Not so for your internet business opportunity.

You set up your web site, you turn on the switch, you are live and open and then what? Where are the millions of people zooming around the internet, where are your customers? This is where that middleman comes in that I mentioned at the beginning. That middleman holds the key to your success and your traffic. The middle man that I am talking about is the gate keepers to the traffic on the internet, the search engines. Like you, I was obviously aware of what the search engines did, and was fairly familiar with how they did it, what I was not familiar with was how that all fit into me opening up my first internet home business.

A mistake that I made was not sitting down with someone who understood this relationship with a new internet business and how I needed to get set up properly to make sure that I would get a least a tiny fraction of all of that internet traffic. It does not matter how many millions of people are on the internet, if they do not know you exist, and visit your web site, you might as well be in the middle of the desert for all the good they are going to do you.

You need to zero in on any internet business opportunity you may be considering and ask yourself this one vitally important question;

“Who is going to know I am in business and how am I going to get them to visit my web site?“

You could end up with the best business on the internet, you could have the most amazing web site, none of that will matter unless you can solve the issue all internet businesses have, getting that all elusive traffic to your web site. I wish someone had written an article like this when I first started out. I wish they then would have stapled it my forehead and made me read it every day for a month BEFORE I did anything about starting my first web site. If they had, I would have done things 100% differently. Take my advice; address the traffic generating steps you need to take before you think about starting any internet business opportunity.

The best place to look for getting good solid free advice on this topic is the blogs and forums on the internet. There are hundreds of them out there, all of the advice is up there to read for free. The information in almost all of the cases comes from people who have gone through this situation and have advice on how to overcome this problem.

My advice on this topic is simple and direct; the way to get real organic traffic to your web site is to make sure you have the freshest, most original content on your market and the search engines and the traffic will find you, eventually! Have a great day.
