I learned that I started to like making art with computers and it was much easier for me to do art on a computer than doing art with my hands. For the 2nd semester of freshman year, I did a scaling project where we took a smaller picture to "blow it up" to make it a bigger picture. I learned that drawing by hand is really hard because I am not that great of a drawer. For sophomore 1st semester, we did a book project. I learned that writing about myself is really hard because when writing about someone else, you can ask them questions and they would answer, but when you ask yourself, you have to think about what the answer is. For 2nd semester, we did a picture with a partner and together, we put both pictures together. I learned about myself that when working with a partner, you have to collaborate with them more and it made art seem easier for me. For junior year 1st semester, I did a keynote for the Biology exhibition. I really enjoyed making art with computers so for that project, it was easy for me to make the keynote for the exhibition. For the 2nd semester, I made a tattoo for someone who didn't have a tattoo before. For myself, I learned that I would not want to have to design a tattoo for anyone because I wouldn't know how to make the tattoo since I'm not that artistic.

Artist Movement Website

http://www.es-cat.org/~pluc/artistsite/Site/Main.html

Progress Post 2/19/2009

<a title="View Writer Info for Webpage on Scribd" The tutorial taught me some techniques like "div tag" to make boxes in the design so that I could put content like texts or pictures in the box, kind of a like a banner like what I already have. I also learned how to put on pictures and text using only codes in the HTML format and that made the layout more catchy when someone looks at it.
Art is something that one can see visually or touch psychically that can represent an idea or an emotion. I think that this picture of a person made of lego has a deep meaning behind it. To me, the legos in the body represent the man having so much thoughts and ideas about the things in his life that he just really needed to let it all out. He couldn't hold in the thoughts and ideas to himself anymore so the hole eventually burst open.
When I first saw this picture, I knew that I could make this picture be about anything, for example, the man eating too much food which resulted in his stomach bursting out, or maybe it could be him holding in all the stress that he has in his life and he just ended up telling everyone about it so he could get a lot of the stress off of his chest. This picture can really make something think a bunch of random things about what this picture can be about and to me, I think that it is Art because I can decide what I want this piece of art to mean, not just what others want me to see what it is.

Art is not something that is just put together to show an audience. I think that this picture isProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age

Best and Worst Web Design of 2008

The first site that I saw that was one of the worst sites is the www.toyjoy.com site. I have no idea what the site is supposed to be about except for a picture of a lobster with an old man's face on it. There is also a slogan on the bottom which kind of has a pirate themed message, but I have no idea what the site is supposed be about again. There are no links that lead to a page of what the site may be about to give some information to the viewer. One of the best sites that I saw was www.n.design-studio.com because the site looked really organized with everything that the viewer may want to look for. The site is self explanatory with designs that the viewer can look at and it also gives the viewer some free downloads that would lead a reader to want to come back for some more.

ThinkQuest Web Design Diversity Blog

1. Cool feedback is plain layout, make the text box match instead of using the color gray, and don't cover up the whole background picture. Notes that were given was that a skill that I used was uploading the website and having a link posted with pictures. For the rubric, I got mostly developing for the Technique part and proficient for the reflection. The tutorial taught me some techniques like "div tag" to make boxes in the design so that I could put content like texts or pictures in the box, kind of a like a banner like what I already have. I also learned how to put on pictures and text using only codes in the HTML format and that made the layout more catchy when someone looks at it.

Project Rough Draft

Here is the website link....
http://es-cat.org/~pluc/test/

Progress 1/12/09

So far, I have been looking at HTML tutorials and I learned how to add a button with the codes.

Connecting your project to your definition of Art

Art is something that people all around the world can experience. Art is not something that is produced and not showcased. My art project is going to show people that art is not only for artists to view, its mostly towards everyday people that might not even like art by a variety of blog posts and pictures. From creating my site, I want people to notice that art is not only for the people who create it and because of this, people will realize that they can relate to art even if they don't like art. I think that the most difficult part of this project so far is getting started and getting the structure down for what I want my site to look like. I am still trying to see if I want to make the site like any other site with a template or make my site with HTML and looking at tutorials.

Project To Do

The message that I want my finished project to have is to get everyone, not just artists to experience what art is, so its not just showcased to artists, but everyone.

I think that this picture is not art because to me, this doesn't symbolize anything, it doesn't make me think there is a theme or message behind this picture, and it doesnt evoke an emotion. The picture just has 3 pillars in an area and maybe if they were bent or carved to make an objet that had more meaning, I would probably say it is art. But because it is just 3 pillars and it doesn't show me any theme or message behind it like the previous post I had where I could say so many things about what the meaning of that picture is, this is not art.
Art must evoke an emotion, must have an uplifting theme or message, must be a form of communication between the artist and the viewer, and must be unique. If an art piece doesn't have these different types of criteria, it is not art.
For the statements above, I think that most of the statements that were voted a lot on were really what I thought art must be in order for a viewer to see that the art is art. One question that I really thought shouldn't have had any votes for was the "Must be done by a recognized artist" because to me, a piece of art shouldn't be determined by if the person creating the art is known or not because anyone can create art. The art doesn't have to be really nice or have people like it, I think that as long as it has a meaning behind it and people can understand what the art is supposed to show people, then it shouldn't have to be done by recognized artists. After I saw these questions, I started to think about the different things that people want art to be. I think that people shouldn't see art as what they want it to be, but how the artist of the art wants people to see out of it.

This person's perspective about art is how he couldn't get his inner self back into the mode where he could produce art/writings. He is a type of person who would sit in a coffee shop to create his own art while sipping his usual macchiato. But lately, he says that he can't create any art as he used to create it anymore. He describes it as the world having so many things happening at once that he couldn't even produce art that he wanted to produce. His reasons for not being able to produce art are explained to be because of the huge financial crisis, a presidential election, and the war over in Eastern Europe. I think that its not because of these reasons that hindered him to produce art, but the many things that are stressing him in his life that are causing him to lose his ability to concentrate the way he used to before he had all this stress.
Even if he says that he is unable to produce art, art can be in many different forms. For example, the blog post that he wrote is a type of art because he shares with others his experiences as an artist. With this, I think that art is art when a person produces something that everyone can experience by them, for example, something that is on the internet. Without someone experiencing the art product that you produced, it is not really art because it is just like in real life, if you do your homework but you don’t turn it in, then you won’t get credit for it, same as a piece of art, if no one sees the art, it isn’t really art.
Art is something that people all around the world can experience. Art is not something that is produced but not showcased.

"What is art?" post

http://boosterseat.wordpress.com/2008/10/08/happy-smiles-and-laughing-yaks/

This person's perspective about art is how he couldn't get his inner self back into the mode where he could produce art/writings. When I was looking for pictures for this article, it wasn't that hard because there were a lot of pictures that were sort of like comics that made fun of the terrorists so there were a bunch of pictures that I could choose from. But I felt that the picture with the words "don't be a filthy terrorist support the war against terror" were strong words that really got the idea out with the picture that I had with Bush and other supporters clapping that he signed the Military Commissions Act bill. Mostly for this first collage, I only used 2 pictures and for the first picture, I only used the words and the Bush and supporters pictures was already there for me to use the lasso tool to crop them out. All I wanted for this picture was to make it simple so that the audience can interpret the picture easily and the importance of the image can be easily seen. For the mood of the collage, I felt like I needed to be like one of the supporters in the back of Bush and see what one of them would say. I thought that one of them would say something that is bad against the terrorists so I decided to use the saying of the filthy terrorists so make it seem funny and make it seem very important at the same time. I decided to put the picture of everyone on the bottom because on the podium that Bush was signing the bill, there is a sign that said "protecting America" and I wanted to include that into the picture without making it seemed like I just placed the picture on there and the words were put on the top so that it was eye catchy to the audience.
For the second picture, the article was about how Habeas Corpus was rejected because of the Military Commissions Act. It was really easy for me to interpret what the article was trying to get out to the readers because all it was saying was how the MCA took away the right of Habeas Corpus. So when I was thinking about what I could do about this picture, I was thinking of how I could make the idea of Habeas Corpus being gone and rejected over the years as the MCA came into use. I decided to show the audience through the idea of "time" with the background of the application "time machine" on a mac because it displays the same ideas that I really wanted to interpret. In photoshop, I used a lot of the technique that Ted taught us with the layer masking by taking some parts of the picture that I didn't want so all 3 of the pictures could be squished in the middle making it seem like its being sucked into the middle of the time machine. I also used the blur tool to refine the edges of the pictures. For the words on the top, I curved it so that i could make it integrated into the idea of the time machine. For the mood of the collage, I wanted to make it seem like there was no chance in having the Habeas corpus right back as a right for people and to me, I think that once something is sucked in to a type of black hole, it never comes back.
For the third collage, I just really wanted to make it seem patriotic because in this article, it stated that the MCA helps America win the war on terror because of the things that the MCA allows the U.S to do like question people who Bush thinks is against America. In the beginning, I made the collage with mostly no layer masking at all and I really didn't know what I could do with this picture because it was so hard to use techniques to make the pictures seem like it wasn't just placed on there. So I asked Ted what I could do with the pictures and he helped me out with the layer masking by making the American flag in the background less visible by adding a layer of gray but when I added that color, the soldiers were not as visble anymore so I had to do the inverse of the layer mask so that I could change the opacity of the gray. I decided to place Bush there on the corner signing the bill because the article mostly mentioned Bush signing the bill and with the soldiers and military vehicles, it showed that the MCA helps America in the war with the soldiers getting to help America with questioning people who seemed to be enemies of the U.S.A. The mood of this collage was somewhat positive because of the soldiers of the U.S. helping to protect the citizens by winning the war on terror and to also keep terrorists from planning more attacks on the U.S.
