Commonwealth Cornerstone Group Awarded $45 Million New Markets Tax Credit.

Commonwealth Cornerstone Group, a nonprofit community development entity created by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, has secured $45 million in new markets tax credit (NMTC) allocations from the U.S. Treasury Department's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. With this newest allocation, CCG has received four NMTC awards totaling $193 million, which it has used to fund 14 developments in the state.

PHFA Issues RFP to Improve Housing in Marcellus Shale Region; deadline June 7.

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for projects to improve the availability and affordability of housing in the Marcellus Shale region of the state. Eligible applicants for the 2013 RFP include Pennsylvania counties that have adopted ordinances authorizing the imposition of an impact fee and that have unconventional gas wells. PHFA Honors Best Performing Lending Partners for 2012.

Nominations Sought for 2013 Supportive Housing Award; deadline March 29.

Individuals and organizations that are creating quality housing opportunities for older Pennsylvanians can be nominated for the state's 2013 Supportive Housing Award. Nominations are due by March 29. The winner will be announced on May 3 during PHFA's 2013 Commonwealth Housing Forum in Harrisburg.

PHFA announces Marcellus Shale funding for housing initiatives

The PHFA Board of Directors has approved a plan to distribute $7.6 million for projects in 19 counties to improve the availability and affordability of housing in the Marcellus Shale region of the state.

This report, produced by PHFA staff drawing mainly on U.S. Census Bureau data, focuses on housing availability and affordability in Pennsylvania. It should interest people who want to gauge the abundance and relative cost of housing in the particular county where they live or work. Additionally, comparisons between counties are easily accomplished using the findings in this report. Statewide data also have been presented so that housing availability and affordability in individual counties can be compared and contrasted with the status of housing in the state as a whole.
