Lips LaBelle is off this Thursday, meaning no Hollywood news and gossip segment. Or will there be one?

My idea?

I am now taking audio applications from listeners interested in doing it this Thursday at 4:30-ish over the phone with me. If you'd like to give it a try just email me a short mp3 sample that we can play on the show. If we get any I will choose from the application samples that come in. Winner will get the chance to do the Hollywood report with me this Thursday...and we'll throw in some PC gear for you too.

Just email me an mp3. Or if you can't do that, just call my voice mail and leave your audio application there for me. 920-831-5642 (you know I just had to look up my own phone number, right?!)

"Howz Yer Weekend?"

So "Howz Yer Weekend?"
Time to talk weekend on the PhilCast this Monday. They're doing three, one Friday night and two on Saturday.

The cool thing about the concert is that RAIN both sounds and LOOKS just like the Beatles, and they walk through the various stages of the legendary band, from Ed Sullivan video clips to feeling like you are at Shea Stadium's concert, to the psychedelic Beatles when they perform songs the Beatles never did live. In fact, RAIN has been together longer than the actual Beatles. It should be a fun interview and a solid concert to attend.

Have a great weekend....and don't forget to call in during the 4:00 hour to share "Chadoin' This Weekend?" plans...promote events taking place this weekend...let us know what's up with the PC Family this weekend. And if you can't call in live just post a note on the PhilCast Facebook Fan Page.

PhilCast Indy 500 Contest Grid

33 Drivers.
33 Listeners.
1-2-3 finishers and first driver out of the race all win something.
Da Playas/Da Drivers (which will be added at random once the field is set)...

1. Why bother? Isn't HIGHWAY 41 already for the most part to the standards of what a freeway is anyway?

Tomorrow there will be a meeting here in the Fox Valley about this and at some point this week we'll get someone on the PhilCast to talk about making the change. Such was the case last season when they dubbed this junk collector from Waterford, WI Hippie Tom.

Then in a later episode they bumped into Hippie Tom at Sturgis. Seems she got a bit fired up by the smell of something in there. Sure enough, some baby something-or-others the size of a mouse were squirming around in there. They are obviously newborns about the size of a small mouse, so they can't be baby mice...too big already. I have a guess as to what they are though. I'll talk about it on the Thursday PhilCast show. And in addition to the mama mourning dove still sitting on the nest outside my back door there is a new winged player with another nest just a few feet away now. The animals theme continues on the show today because Neenah city fathers met to talk about new pet restrictions there and Appleton city fathers are putting together plans on what to do about raising chickens in the city.

The pictures from Wednesday's visit to Van Zeeland's Nursery are now posted at the PhilCast Photo Page

Clark & Clunk

It's Hump Day on the PhilCast and among other things I've got planned, we'll be talking about Clark Howard today. Clark comes to Appleton next week with WHBY as his host once again.

Dave Edwards of the morning show will be joining us on the PhilCast today to talk about ticket sales for next week's event.

So I figured as long as we're talking Clark I would go into my personal achieves and pull out my classic Clunk Hubbard bit. In a previous radio life there was one time when the Brewers' game ended just a tad early and the afternoon show host said he didn't start until three. So I came up with the idea of taking calls as Clark's cousin to kill a little time.

And listeners started calling too. Funny thing is that Clark visited that station a couple years later and I played this bit for him. He was in tears he was laughing so hard. Clark's a great guy, both on and off the mic from what I have seen of him. So listen for a little classic Clunk Hubbard on the show today.

And we're done at 5:00 today also, making room then for the start of Brewers' pre-game.

The gift that keeps on giving

Yes, it's "Tell-a-Friend Tuesday" on the PhilCast, but the open to the show that I usually play for that will have to wait until the 4:00 hour today.

That's because I have a little something special to open the show today since once again, Brett proves he's the gift that just keeps on giving.

--"I wish I knew!" -B. Just post on the PhilCast FB fan page or email on that as well.

Enjoy your weekend. The weather Saturday looks nasty...maybe it's a good time to get caught up on listening to some PhilCast podcasts while working around the house INSIDE.

MUG SHOTS

Lots to cover today.
Lets start with the font here.
Leave it like this or change it to the bigger style? But on the other hand reporters ask how tweeting is any more distracting than taking notes.

Right now there is no rule that covers this and judges are making decisions as they go from case to case. Some even allow photos to be taken as long as no member of the jury is in any picture.

Should people/reporters have the right to tweet in the courtroom or should we just be telling everyone to turn everything off while they are in a court of law? Heck, some jurors have even been tweeting during the trial they are sitting in on.

We'll discuss on the show Tuesday afternoon.

I'll also have an Olympic update today. We'll discuss on the Monday PhilCast. Feel free to call in during the first hour of the show today to fill us in on what you were up to over the weekend. Mine included learning all about mourning dove nesting (more about that on the show). If you can't call in leave a post on our Facebook Fan page and I'll be going over those as well. CLICK HERE to leave a post.

50 years ago today this handsome guy took over the news desk at CBS television and would become the most trusted man in America.

How times have changed. How many people actually even watch a network newscast each evening now like we used to do.

And how many people could even name the anchors that now have the job on the big three networks?

Also today, how the heck did I miss a local beauty pageant over the weekend in the Valley?
